1.
Another piece of proposed legislation that will adversely affect live music in the UK: It appears that the government wish to consider, (for consider read "implement"), it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging. I read an article about this in November and the proposed level mentioned then was 70Db. About the same as a hair dryer. Someone has organised a petition on the Government Petition Site. I urge you ALL to sign it. Not only will this law affect musicians but the whole musical instrument industry, fans, venues....... Just imagine that vast stock of gear you have would become worthless. PLEASE DON'T DISMISS THIS. Spread the word and get everyone you know who loves live music to sign the petition. Bands, family, pets, venues, fans just get everyone you know to sign it. No one is saying it will make a difference, but if you don't try, you don't know. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION HERE: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/NoNoiseControl/
Signed,this is a disgrace!!!!

 17.
Hi Mick, I am sure it is the other way round - the 1983 wooden neck (called the 'S.T.M neck) with a metal laminate was a precursor to the graphite models that began to be offered around '84 along with a slightly more streamlined profile (narrower horns) in '86. The series 3 was the introduction of the 10/90 in about 1989 where the 5 string was the first bass to have the system, and series 2 full graphite was still an option... I will get confirmation either way on this soon! Cheers ped
I could be wrong then Ped dunno... Mines number 028 so its a very early one!
 18.
I THINK that series one were wooden neck-thru basses with a brass laminate under the fingerboard. Series 2 had full graphite (like ours) and the series 3 have the 10/90 neck. The series 4 have a 10/90 neck but are now bolt-on. I haven't actually seen the rear of one of these yet, and the useless review in BGM didn't have any photos either! ped
Series 1's were full carbon neck through for definate (well sort of half neck through cos it only goes up to the front pickup) and im pretty sure the series 2's had the wooden necks and cheers for the complements on me sunburst vidge.I dont know wether to sell it now or not, just dont think i can bring myself to part with it!
 19.
Alright Nick, how you doing? 213 is very nice and close in colour to mine I was wondering, I have experience of Gel coats, The gloss finish layer for fibre glass ie. boats, It forms a brittle layer that crack and flakes after a few years especially if the material its applied to moves. I wonder if this is applied as a finish coat to the necks and then bodies of Vigiers, The necks stay perfectly rigid over time however as we know wood swells and shrinks even tiny amounts, which would cause the smartie effect? Dunno what do you think? And Kev thanks for the contact and images, I think the bass is possibly a refinish? It doesn't have the Vigier decal on the body, but Im a Vig novice and not sure of the continuity of this??? Also the bass finish is too much of a brown burst for my liking. Dave
My vigier has definently NOT had a refinish! I bought this bass personally brand new from spectre music in bingley and it has basically spent most of its entire life in its case, due to the fact i have always had a few basses that i gigged. It is a mark 1 passion and these never had the vigier graphic near the pickups.
