  1. Thanks chaps. Just to clarify to anyone reading this, the compact 60 is for acoustic instruments, not particularly bass (though I am sure it would make a fine amp for double bass and acoustic bass).
  2. Just to add, I will be in and around Brighton on 1st February and can bring it with me if it suits anyone. Robbie
  3. Brilliant thanks- will tell him he needs to do something else!
  4. I’m look for a piece called Blue Espresso, and I don’t even know if there was any bass tab for this. I know it’s in the current grade 6 guitar syllabus. I have a student who is doing it on guitar for his GCSE ensemble, and I am trying to hunt down the bass tab for the same piece. Any help? I have a feeling it might have been in the previous syllabus (2012 to 2018). Robbie
  5. Edit: I have removed possible swaps as I really would like the money for the sale of this to go to my two boys in their musical pursuits- my 10 year old is currently doing very well in his guitar lessons at school and would like to get him an electric (Squier strat or Tele) to reward him for his effort, whilst my 12 year old older son has always wanted to play the bass , so would love to get him something short scale to help him on his way. 😊 Robbie
  6. Mint condition acoustic guitar amp, complete with carry case. 60 watts of superb clean tone. Most of my playing these days is at folk clubs where amplification is frowned upon so superfluous to requirements. I also have my eye on a Phil Jones bass amp on here. Pickup from a mutually convenient place preferred. Pictures to follow, but it really is mint condition, no marks. Thanks, Robbie
  7. Bugger, this is just what I’m after but have an AER compact 60 to sell first 😢
  8. Not a whole album, but this track by my friend Lou Rhodes was her anti Christmas Carol, and last track on her solo album One Good Thing. Apologies to any Christians on here, but I love the sentiment of this track
  9. My bass is that little bit nearer to being back in my possession, thanks to Merton 😊. Love this forum and the kindness of its members. Here is a photo of the pickup
  10. Oh wow, that sounds like a possibility. I won’t be able to collect it this weekend, but possibly the next. Let me see if this will work out with the guy who is looking after it. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, really appreciate it 😊
  11. Ok, I have been investigating getting a train from Bournemouth up to Manchester and back, but can you believe it, it’s going to cost £122 😱 If anyone is able to collect it from Manchester/ Salford and bring it down anywhere near Southampton or Bournemouth I would be very happy to contribute something to their petrol 😊. Going to be a helluva lot cheaper than a train!
  12. Just to clarify, it’s not Liverpool as I thought, it’s Salford (which I think is Manchester sort of way isn’t it?)
  13. Sorry not to get back to you Stub. Probably too late now. Is anyone else travelling south from Liverpool anytime soon? Even if I could get it a little bit nearer to the south (eg Bristol, or London). Heres hoping, as this bass has never been played by the guy who bought it, and has remained unplayed and neglected for two years now. Heartbreaking to see such a wonderful instrument go neglected. Robbie
  14. I have been offered the opportunity to buy back my beloved Brook bass that I was forced to sell 2 years ago. It’s this one here. The thing is it’s currently sitting up in Liverpool and I need to get it down to Lymington in Hampshire. Is anyone travelling between the North of England and either Southampton or Bournemouth over the next couple of months? I don’t really want to have it shipped as it’s in a soft Gator case, and is bloody huge! Here’s hoping 😊 Robbie
  15. It’s been around for a while, but because it is one of their acoustic guitar amps you will find it in that section of their site. Robbie
  16. Ok, last price reduction in the hope that they go before I move house, the tweed cables I will do for £35, including postage. Don’t forget that this includes 5 cables in the following spec: 1 cable right angle jack to straight jack 2 lots of straight jack to straight jack 2 patch cables with right angled jacks. The cable is high quality sommer cable, and the jacks are all Neutrik. They were built by “Design a Cable” who I have used for all my cable requirements for a number of years now. All good condition and have been unused for some time now. £35 including postage anywhere in the UK
  17. Mono strap and Elixir lead now sold pending. Silent switching lead now withdrawn as I need it for an alternative way of hooking up my preamp. The bundle of tweed leads still up for grabs. How about £40 the lot? Rob
  18. Ok, the Levy’s strap is now sold. All offers considered 😊
  19. Ok, as you can see it says “s” on it, and it measures at about 116cm at its longest. Hope that helps.
  20. I have various leads I would like to get rid of, as I have not used them for several years now. Also, two straps for sale. Here is a list of what I have: 1. A collection of various guitar leads, all with Sommer tweed braided cable and neutrik jacks. These include two straight jack guitars leads, 3 metre in length. A right angle to straight guitar lead, 4 metre in length, and then two short(ish) patch cables with right angled jacks. I had all of these leads made by “Design a Cable” who are extremely reliable. The leads are all working and have been used very rarely. I just do not have the equipment anymore to make use of them. I would do the whole lot for £50 plus postage and packing. See attached pictures. 2. A 5metre length Elixir Cable. These were the dogs nadgers when they first came out, made by the same company as do the strings. They no longer make cables. Have no idea what the connectors are, or what the cable is, but the cable is pretty thick and stiff, and knowing Elixir, there is probably some shenanigans going on with the cable inside to make it sonically better. I seem to remember they were at least £40 or £50 when new. Looking for about £20 for this. 3. A brand new (used only for one gig two years ago!) “Design a Cable” built guitar lead, using high quality braided cable, 5 metres in length, a gold plated neutrik right angle silent switching connector, going to a straight silver neutrik connector. It has purple boots, and I have to say, for a guitar lead, looks remarkably attractive and funky. I have no use of this anymore, as my acoustic guitar uses a stereo cable. Looking for £20. Withdrawn 4. Two straps, a Mono one that I bought off the forum here a few months ago but haven’t really used. Still superb condition. Looking for £25. The other is a leather Levy’s strap with Velcro adjustment. Absolutely brilliant this is. Bought this years ago, and barely used, so still superb condition. Very comfortable and wide, so suitable for bass. Looking for about £35 for this one. None of these prices are set in stone, so please feel free to male an offer 😊. I’ve had to get myself an acoustic preamp for gigging, so the money will go towards that. All prices are plus shipping.
  21. Yes, they did that to me as well. Seems to be safe, though I have to say, the amount of time Reverb sat on my money, I would never ever use them again. Beware of all the fees too, Rob
  22. I wanted to just say publicly how much I enjoy this forum. I may not be a very active member at the moment, but I thoroughly enjoy the content on here, and especially the people. Indeed, a huge thank you to forum member Raymundo who, about 18 months ago now, saw my post on here that, due to financial difficulties, I had to sell my beloved Brook acoustic bass. Ray immediately got in touch and offered to lend me an acoustic bass to tide me over. I have just given the bass back to Ray (I still hope to be able to buy back my Brook shortly) but this lovely act of kindness will never be forgotten. I truly think bass players are the loveliest of musicians- humble, extremely musical, empathetic, and without any delusions of grandeur! An example of this is the thread on Depression. Such a thread is unheard of on other forums. Indeed, on a guitar forum I belong to, discussions of people’s mental health is positively frowned upon! The way people help and support each other in that thread is really quite beautiful. Anyway, just wanted to get that all off my chest. Hopefully, at some stage in the next few months I will have my bass back and continue with my project of exploring solo folk bass!! Robbie
