1. Yes, the downsizing of my board worked as planned! Managed to save quite a bit of weight by going from this: to a Pedaltrain Mini (with the Volume pedal being an option for gigs): Just need to decide whether to buy the smaller Diago Micropower9 that fits under the Pedaltrain and wire in the power cables. Also, would like to find a matching Dimarzio 18" cable to replace the temporary one one the Whammy 'out' side.
2. Gigman now sold! Cheers Lloyd! Powerstation still available. Also up for a trade with cash for the Diago Micropower9 if anyone is looking to upgrade.
3. Due to constant indecision about how compact I want my pedalboard to be, the following 2 top bits of kit are up for grabs. Diago Gigman Pedalboard/case ***Now Sold*** Diago Powerstation Power supply for your whole pedalboard (depending if you have some wacky power requirements) up to 3000 mA. Excellent condition, only selling as it won't fit under a Pedaltrain Mini so will be buying the Diago Micropower9. ***Sold***
4. Massive price drop to £1000 (excluding postage) for one week starting......... now................. One of my basses needs to go due to a tight financial month ahead, so am dropping the price temporarily. This is a fantastic chance to get a beauty of a Bass at a ridiculously low price!
5. I tried this Bass in the showroom when it had just been built. It's a real beauty and sounds fantastic! Someone buy it quickly at this bargain price! P.S. Mr. Wombatboter is a Bass monster!
6. Haha! Was a little scared by that idea at first, but hey, would look pretty awesome. Plus the Catalyzed Oil finish on this could be sanded down pretty quickly.
7. I managed to get quite a lot of stuff on a Pedaltrain Mini. The new Diago cables (just added to their site) look pretty good and hopefully easier to assemble than the Lava ones. Also, you could use a Diago Micropower9 under the Pedaltrain to make more space up top if needed. You'd just need the 9-18v adaptor for the Tonehammer. Still deciding if I'll pick up another Pedaltrain to make my set-up lighter again. Just can't fit the volume pedal on..............
8. There we go, much neater and no cat hairs!
9.
Great little set up dude. Really like it.
Cheers guys! The polyphonic pitch shifting in combination with delay is ungodly. Plus you still have the option to switch back to glitchy single note evilness instantly. Am so impressed with the Diago powerstation being able to power everything including 18 volts for the Tonehammer as well as the big current draw of the Timeline and Whammy (now standard 9v). Might still squeeze the whole thing minus the Volume pedal down to a Pedaltrain mini. The only thing that probably won't fit is the tuner, but will work something out. Then it will be extremely portable, which helps when travelling on the tube.
10. At last my stripped down and updated 'essentials' board! Needs some serious wiring work but got it as tidy as possible for testing. Also still needs the pads removed for all the pedals and velcro'ing down. Might have to take some new photos as the cat hair on the Ernie Ball is bugging me! haha!
11. Online stores are fantastic for comparing prices and often getting a good deal however we need the actual stores to try things out and compare them in the flesh. Otherwise we are wasting their and our time ordering (then returning) things that we would would have put down straight away after one second of trying in the shop. Don't forget that your approach to anyone that you deal with can always set the tone for the response. Another important thing to remember is that 'most' decent stores will match any legitimate price another store is offering as long as the 'cheaper' store actually has stock. Just be friendly and and ask if this is possible (without demanding etc.). Concerning ordering a bass just to try, as you think it may be the coolest thing ever is not good practice for any store unless they have a really good relationship with the distributor and you can somehow convince them you won't dissapear once the bass actually arrives. Just think how many times you have a buyer on Gumtree (or even Basschat on the rare occasion) that drops out at the last minute??? Hmmmm, think I'll order that Pink Sparkle Alembic with LED's now..................... haha! Some have made comments about Guitar guitar, who's service didn't impress when visiting their shops. However, they are also an online store who have pretty much bent over backwards to help me when calling their ordering line, along with being extremely competitive price-wise. Most of them really know their Guitar/Bass stuff while the other person I spoke to was extremely helpful even though he is their Keyboard expert not knowing so much about the guitar department. I'm not going to do a name and shame for the stores that have really been difficult to deal with but would like to highly commend all the following for great pricing and wonderful service: Guitar guitar (Be sure to call their central ordering line) Effect Power Supplies / Stompbox (All really nice there!) Bass Direct (Mark rules) The Bass Gallery And in the Netherlands (where I was living for a few years). They all speak English and ship to the UK! Paul's Bass Matters Rock Palace Adamovic Basses Thomann also offer a good service but once you factor in shipping, are often more expensive than other shops across Europe if you shop around. However they do have a massive range so corner the market on some brands. Hope this helps those about to spend their hard earned cash! I've spent waaaaayyyyyy too much over the years!
12. I've had 3 Basses built by Nikola and they are all outstanding! The first one has been my main workhorse for everything since I bought it years ago. Definitely have confidence in dealing with him and check out his basses anytime you have an opportunity!
13. Cheers man! The pickup is close to the Musicman sweet spot and can be split from a humbucker to single coil while the woods are more Jazz like with the maple neck and ash body. Quite versatile as the Aguilar 2 band preamp is running at 18 volts giving quite large boost and cut options. It's more open sounding than my other 2 Jupiter model basses as the woods on those compress the sound a 'little' more. Hope that helps!
14. Have just picked the Bass up from the Bass Gallery where it has had a full set up, new nut and fresh set of strings so, it's playing like a dream. Also, offering another price drop for this week, but might change my mind on this so come and check it out fast! £1200 (excluding shipping)
15. One free Higgie bump! We don't want ya to go starving and homeless mate!
16. I think the whole point of what Wampler pedals represent is being missed by a few of the posters here. This is a great opportunity for us to actually give some constructive suggestions on a potential new product. Fundamentally, as a couple of people have mentioned most of us would love to have our main tone intact then incorporate/dial the drive in as transparently as possible without losing low end response. For Wampler to do their magic, we need to give suggestions of the most popular 'amp' overdrives available and see if they can make a pedal that can give those characteristics. My first examples of great amp overdrive tones that would 'rock' in a pedal form would be: Mesa Bass 400+ Gallien Krueger Ampeg (the VT could still be improved) Pearce Preamps as not even Billy Sheehan has got an equivalent for those that he uses (with Compression built in would rock but not so important). The biggest demand/neccesity on the forums for drive effects is for a clean blend. Take a look at the popularity of the Darkglass B3K to see how this function is working for a lot of people in a big way. Other considerations that would be nice include: A compact pedal size where possible. Running on standard 9v or 18v for more headroom Heavily tested to work with Active Basses as well as Passive****Very Important*** Not just designed around a P-Bass played by a guitarist only using picks! Hope this helps and Wampler decide to accept the challenge! Cheers, Andy
17. Hey Geert! Great to hear from you! What you playing Bass-wise currently? Is the collection getting even bigger? ) Cheers, Andy
18. Was just thinking that looks suspicious! Haha! Bought the new version with the low back plate then decided to go bigger to a Diago Gigman. Hoping the Diago won't need to go up for sale!
19. For Sale: Adamovic Custom Jupiter 33” scale 4-string in absolute immaculate, new condition with only a couple of hours playing time since having it built for me by Adamovic. This Jupiter has a couple of non-standard specs that aren’t normally offered by Adamovic as EMG pickups and Aguilar pre-amps aren’t normally in the range. The combination of these electronics with the walnut body create a lovely warm tone with plenty of definition if required. I specifically simplified the electronics to not have a mid or Active/Passive switch, keeping the controls looking clean and straight-forward. The volume is a push/pull for Humbucker or Single coil mode for the pickup. The 33" inch scale makes chording a breeze! Body wood: Walnut Top wood: Pau ferro with maple veneer Shape: X-ergo back shaping Main neck wood: Hard maple Secondary wood: Wenge Fingerboard: Ebony Scale length: 33" Frets: 24 Nut: Ebony Jack: Barrel jack Finish: Oil finish Pick-ups: EMG 35TW Electronics: Aguilar 3-band (OBP-3) 18v Pickup modes: Humbucker/singlecoil Bridge: Hipshot style A-style 3-way adjustable Tuners: Hipshot Ultralites with D-tuner New price with the selected upgrades would be around 3500+ Euros and it is genuinely 100% immaculate/unplayed condition. Now for sale/on display at Bass Direct for £1800 http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Adamovic.html Complete photos are on the Adamovic site here and this is exactly as the Bass looks now: http://www.adamovic....upiter/Ju10.htm
20. Had a question on Talkbass about what exactly Stabilized Maple means concerning the Birds-eye fretboard, so thought it would be good to mention it here: Stabilized figured/Burl woods have been impregnated with monomores and acrylics to produce a dimensionally stable wood. Some advantages of stabilized woods are they minimize or totally eliminate: Shrinking Cracking Expanding Warping Other benefits of stabilized wood include: Moisture Stable Oil Impervious No Raised Grain Hope this helps! Have also put one of my prized Adamovic Jupiter Basses up for sale in a seperate thread, but ideally only plan to sell one of these 2 Basses. The 3rd Adamovic will be staying with me to my grave..............
21. For Sale, a very rare one-off custom 'Jazz-style' Adamovic Custom Bass custom built to my specs. Absolutely wonderful Bass that has been resting in its case for too long as I mainly use one of my Adamovic Jupiter Basses for everything. Excellent condition apart from a few light indentations in the finish at the lower backside due to me very cleverly having a keychain on my jeans for one gig! Plays amazingly and Sounds great as the preamp gives a lot of variation from the simple electronics setup, plus is running at 18 volts for added headroom. Specs as follows: 2 piece Swamp Ash Body 34" Maple neck with Stabilized birdseye maple AAAAA grade fingerboard (Stunning!) 24 Frets Abalone Inlays Birds Eye Maple electronics cavity cover EMG 35TW Pickup (Single and Dual Coil Modes) Aguilar OBP-2 Pre-amp (18v) Hipshot Bridge (through body or top loading) Hipshot Ultralite Tuners and D-Tuner X-Ergo back carving Satin Finish Jim Dunlop recessed straplocks Strung with brand new Elixirs. Electronics are set-up as Volume with Push/Pull single/dual coil and Bass/Treble cut and boost for the second knob. I purposefully didn't go for an Active/Passive switch as I wanted to have as few knobs as possible. New price would be around 2400 Euros Selling for [s]£1500[/s] [s]£1300 £1150 [/s]***SOLD*** Indentations in finish (described above)
