1. :shok:I have been having lessons since last Autumn, stopped them recently due to getting married, honeymoon etc. now I have lost my motivation to get back at it....... my teacher is really good and I was making good progress albeit he is orchestral and I want to slap!!! There are no slap teachers that I can find in darkest Norfolk, so any suggestions how to get going again, I have not touched the bass for couple of months........
2. Any one tried theirs yet, I would like some starter settings to get me going????
3. Does exactly what it says on the tin, a great little pre amp. £50 including UK delivery - Now sold, thank you
4. Me to, got a reply staright away they are almost ready he had a problem with a delivery of potentiometers. All seems well.
5. No not yet, but he did say 2 - 3 weeks from order.......
6. That means my K & K Model 97 will be up for grabs in a few weeks!!!!
7. just ordered mine to!!!! Dan thinks it Christmas
8. I think you will have to remove another as a pattern then a trip to a fixings company, I am sure it will be able to be replaced with a similar modern screw if the looks are similar. S.
9. Did it not sell yet, although very interested it is the travelling that is still a problem for me!!!!!
10. http://www.thehoundogs.co.uk/ Great band, got a new album release shortly. Influenced by Stray Cats etc. Excellent stage show
11. I have silver slaps on my bass, I find they are a great string I have no problems getting the sound I want, its just getting it in the right place, like the rest of my notes . So how do you learn the riffs, solo`s and bass lines to songs, there never appears to be any music to follow. I recently had a few hours with a very talented Rockabilly bassist, no music, no tabs, just his ear for the song.... However I need to start somewhere, any suggestions?
12. I will find out which strings on my next lesson. Not sure about the structure, seems to be hanging in there though!
13. My teachers uses a cello, fitted with EUB strings and tunes to GDAE, he calls it a "Chase"! The reason was its portability and the high cost of a 1/2 size DB as he already had the cello. To my untrained ear it sounds pretty good, both pizz and arco. The tuning pegs are a pain so machine heads will be fitted.
14. I have Silver slaps on my UB, and also very new to the upright. You can get a reasonable sound arco, but its not what they were designed for, it was suggested to me to roughen the area the bow uses on the strings with 600 grit fine abrasive, I haven't as I didn't want to risk spoiling the strings. I do however use loads of Rosin on both bow, and the said area of the strings makes a big difference, but ultimately if you want Arco you will need more suitable strings. There are many threads on hybrid strings....... and so starts a long search for the perfect string set.......... Try a cheapy set of steel strings of Fleabay the will be hard on your hands for pizz but may save you money in the long run as a comparison.
15. Notion it will be then. Thanks for the recommendations.
16. They never come up nearby do they?
17. As it says I need a simple free Ipad app for Bass clef notation if anyone has any recommendations Cheers Stuart
18. I got a blister!!!! first of many me thinks.
19. Ok I am on the long and tortuous road to learning to slap much to the distaste of my orchestral orientated teacher My question is when slapping do you mute the strings with your left hand, the WWW. gives conflicting opinions? Stuart
20. I have that one, although nothing to compare it with it does what it says on the tin, and for that price its worth a shot, simples to fit and mount.
