this is a tough one! in nearly 30 years of playing the perfect fit for me has been my yamaha attitude mk I. considering the tone is in our hands it would be almost impossible to decide on a custom signature that brought out our individuality! at best we use our ears, hope and finally guess but most times our eyes and spec sheets get the better of us. warwick, schuker, goodfellow all beautifully made and crafted basses but all much of a muchness - now dont shoot me - kuthiers at the top of their trade crafting fine basses to modern availabilty of resources. lately it would seem to me that a vast majority of new, moderate and experienced players are plumping for a yamaha bb414/16? anyway loads of forums reviews and positive comments out there......and yamaha have made a massive killing out of them globally! it is tough! but if we are that good then we should be able to play sounding great on any old rubbish!

He started me off on the road to playing rock! the mans a genius and taught me that you dont need to be fancy to make a song sing! phil rudd and him simply groove and that my friends is what it is all about! so how much of a fan? big time!

hey folks thanks for the welcomes and nice to talk again - sorta! written... if I could sing like phil - wow! what a thought! I'm hopeless! I have missed a few from that list particularly folk like: pino paladino, chris squire, JJ burnell, my bass tutor nico - Ian bruce nephew of Jack Bruce! and of course Jaco Pastorious whos reputation will live on for ever and all the other players of whom I have not mentioned...the list is endless and of course all of us! andy

Evening folks hope I find you all well on this lovely May evening? well where do I begin? used to be drewman22 on the old service and decided when I joined here that I would change my username as I hated drewman22! anyway I am forty and have been playing bass for nearly 30 years and enjoy it immensly. I have just reintroduced myself to playing after nearly 5 years of a break - children blink.gif and have just rejoined and started up a band with some old school friends who are in a similar position to myself! I do own a lot of bass gear: yamaha attitude ltd mkI yamaha attitude ltd mkII yamaha trb5 - premanufactured model! fender american standard pbass ampeg svt pro 3 ampeg 4x10 hlf ashdown 8x10 trace elliot v4 2 1x15 peavey cabs I am a traditional rock fan and have been likened in performance to phill lynott cool.gif who happens to be one of my heroes! fav bands: stiff little fingers ac/dc whitesnake the who van halen david lee roth mr big system of a down to name a few! christ! I missed out Free and Bad Company!!! fav bass players: billy sheehan phil lynott neil murray cliff williams jack bruce john entwhistle with loads of respect to all bass players out there who play and perform no matter how bad or how great - respect my friends! hope this is a little insight into my bass playing history and look forward to interacting with you all on this fine forum! ta andy
