  1. Looking forward to it @mjw amps I suspect there will be a lot of pictures up here - first things first - need to pick a colour scheme!
  2. If it's like most studios I've been to only 2 of the 8 speakers actually work (intermittently)
  3. Not finalised yet - but basically a B15 clone with a few surprises..
  4. I'm second in his new queue for a build...
  5. Hah! It was actually a "beginner" guitarist Jam - I was on bass duties
  6. Well, yes. But, well, yes. And possibly no. But mostly yes. Mostly I was impressed by the noise floor, and just how much air it moved.
  7. On a serious note, and for anyone who is actually interested - it held up very well with a drummer and 4 (!) guitars.. I was adjusting volume down quite a bit... No funny noises, no parping, and loads of bottom end. I suspect the k12.2 would have been far too much for the room. I was originally going to run it out to the PA as well - but quickly came to the conclusion that it would be total overkill
  8. One does not simply play for Taylor Swift.
  9. Don't worry, I had the studio owner remove all the blue smarties..
  10. There was a distinct amount of trouser flap. Also much vibration and much rib cage rumbling. There were quite a few guitarists there with some big big amps who all universally said "&)@;&) me that's loud.." Rock n roll is dead, man.
  11. Totally. There was an 8x10 with a Hartke head in the practise room. Tried it, but it was just too good to carry on with so I used the crappy QSC instead.
  12. I had a go on a Shergold Marathon today. Black. Maple neck. Obeche body so nice and light. Not as punchy as a P but sounded individual and sat nicely in the mix. Was really rather nice, and I wasn't expecting that..
  13. Took it out to a jam session today. @&£!*^ me its loud. No parpy noises on the low notes. Very clear and loads of projection. Cor.
  14. And in fact I started this thread to say that I went to a shop with the intention of buying one option, but after trying a few chose a different one which had many of the characteristics you mention above. My whole point originally was to say that received wisdom (Yam DXR) was not in fact the best on (my) test
  15. Thing is, I have an EICH T1000 and a Vanderkley 210 which is pretty much enough for any gig situation. I have also just started speccing a small 15w valve head for recording. The FRFR is just another tool, another option, but one that will get used a lot - space and weight dictates that it will.
  16. I'm quite enjoying the fact that I started a thread about some stuff I bought, saying how much I enjoyed using it - but people still keep coming back to tell me it's not as good as the stuff that won't fit on the stage or in the car, or gives me back pain etc.. Clearly I have no idea what I'm doing - which to be fair may be true.
  17. How big is your rig? What is it? How do you record with it? What do you do in smaller venues? What do you do in much larger venues - do you mic the cab?
  18. Ah, phew. I'm fine then. I can happily take my fake computertech crap out to gigs cos we play "Americana" not rock n roll.
  19. If asked I bet she wouldn't....
  20. Actually, mostly our friends over the pond...
