  1. See I’ve always thought you held back too much and underpitched your sales mate - you need to work on your sales patter and try a harder sell 😎
  2. And I was expecting about 30 people to post 30 different preamp/DI pedals as well - clearly I don’t bang on about them half as much as I thought!
  3. All this chit chat ain’t getting me a good mix of birthday pressie ideas either 😂 (but it’s always good to chit chat with the legend that is @AndyTravis tho)
  4. Bit heavy for a sports tourer tho innit?
  5. I was looking for something a bit, um, sportier - not a Mondeo
  6. @AndyTravis - Don’t tell me - One careful lady owner, never raced, full warranty etc etc?
  7. Do you know of such a beast for sale?
  8. It’s my birthday this week and Mrs B wants to get me something bass related. Oddly, I’m struggling for ideas.. Imagine a budget up to about £400 or so (I could add a bit of cash) What would you ask for? And if you know me, what would you suggest I ask for?
  9. Yep full fat helix - but I use it to record at home, and vocals, and all sorts of other audio interface stuff... TBH I reckon you could get away with 2x preamps on a board in serial and switching on and off as needed. That’s about as simple as it would get...
  10. @Frank Blank I know you won’t like it, but if I want two distinct sounds and two basses, I use my Helix. Bass -> Helix -> QSC
  11. @Frank Blank - Personally I would build a mini board (I use a pedal train Nano) and have two preamps going to the QSC. I’ve done this a few times. You could use a Boss line switcher for input or output or some other a/b pedal if you only wanted one lead to the QSC. Thing is, you love the fish man sound - so keep it. It won’t do what you want for the other bass so a small board with 2 on will cover both. You can then delight in the joy of trying loads of preamp pedals. Personally it’s one of my fave hobbies - I love trying preamp pedals out. Got my eye on a subway next and it will no doubt continue ad Infinitum....
  12. Yes, the ACG will be a great thing to have! And I’m not convinced I’ll need 2 fretless basses - I’m using the ACG 5 more and more now, and it may well be that I stick to mostly using 2 ACG 5’s - one fretted one fretless Which does leave me wondering whether it’s worthwhile holding on to the Shuker.
  13. I’ve not tried him yet. I’ll leave it for a bit and drop him a line later in the month. I think it is fixable (from when I dropped it off) and I guess I will see what the cost is etc. However, whether I keep it when it’s back here is up in the air. I’m sure it will be totally strong as a fix and perfect - but, you know, when the confidence goes, it’s difficult to get back
  14. Mentally, it’s already there...
  15. No. Haven’t heard from Jon since I dropped it off...
  16. The Helix has a very good global EQ - and a number of other very good EQ “blocks” - it has a Mic in and I’ve recorded vocals through it very successfully - it’s certainly not limited to guitar and bass
  17. Actually IIRC Barefaced primarily made the FR800 as a PA speaker - so no different to anyone else
  18. I just have to know - what letter did you star out? Was it an ‘s’? Or an ‘n’? Or maybe an ‘r’?
  19. Yeah and I’ve still got the little pencil I nicked at the same time 🤣
  20. I was joking - it was in response to the “P basses look cheap cos of the Argos catalogue ones” comments 😂
  21. Pre CBS precision? pfftt. Rubbish.
  22. I’ve checked the speakers. They have never had slap played through them.
  23. We will always have stingray.
  24. He might have run out of “grimaces”
