  1. See my pic above: TRS in one side and 2x TS out of the other.
  2. Some random comments back at you! 🙂 NB. you only insert on jack at a time: either a mono into the "Normal" socket or a stereo/TRS into the Rick-O-Sound one. FYI, the switching socket is a Switchcraft part too (I thought I had a note of the p/n somewhere). I think there may be a sweet spot to allow the mono one free movement. Perhaps bending the mono one's inner blade in a bit might give it that extra clearance. The reason there's no sound when a mono jack one is pushed all the way into the stereo socket is because the mono socket's switch connects the stereo one's Tip and Ring together, so if you push a mono jack in all the way, it's Sleeve (Gnd) is touching the Ring, which connects it to Gnd too.
  3. FYI #1, this is a splitter box to do the Rick-O-Sound thing. FYI #2 - you can test the Rick-O-Sound socket with a mono lead: push it in all the way and you should get the Treble pickup; pull it out partly and you should get the Bass one.
  4. I have a Mighty Mite fretless neck on a Jazz and it is excellent.
  5. My '64 Rickenbacker cost me £220. (It was in 1977, though.)
  6. Not a desk per-se, but I'd like a 1U rack mixer with all line-level inputs (for mixing pre-amps and keyboards).
  7. Thankfully, the chances of me playing Country are pretty slim.
  8. If the line is too simple then I'm always looking to vary it a bit; I don't like being told that bass's job is to hold the root note. If it's too complicated then I'll debate whether it's worth the effort learning someone else's lines verbatim. The ones I find more intriguing are where there is randomness; in particular, Chris Squire and Paul McCartney seemed to be able to wander off at a tangent at times (then again, I'm not sure Macca would ever play precisely the same bass line anyway).
  9. What a load of baloney! "Experience the fusion of acoustic and electric bass with the Peavey 240, a stalwart addition to any musician's collection. Crafted for right-handed players, this electro-acoustic bass guitar offers the versatility to plug in for electrified performances or strum acoustically for a rich, natural sound. The Peavey 240 is renowned for its robust construction and exceptional playability, making it a preferred choice for bass enthusiasts. Whether you're gigging or recording, this model delivers a consistent and high-quality tone that is synonymous with the Peavey legacy.". And the seller has thoughtfully added: "has been checked and working fine." There's a listing for something else I'd like, but the crap-AI has put me off. "These top quality BLAH are a must-have for any musician looking for a high-quality and reliable performance. With BLAHs, these BLAH provide an exceptional playing experience. The BLAH allow for easy integration into any setup. These BLAH are perfect for both beginners and professionals alike, and are sure to enhance any musician's performance. The brand BLAH is known for its high-quality and durable products, making these BLAH a great investment for anyone looking to take their music to the next level. Used by BLAH of BLAH" In all honesty, this isn't AI; it's just dumb automation to cut & paste preset phrases interspersed with the input keywords (and maybe augmented with a couple of google keyword searches); it's even less "AI" than the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA program of the 1960s. I'll be writing a shell script next week to generate a config file based on a few input parameters; maybe I'll call it "AI" to impress people.
  10. Well... The EBS does what the BDDI does, but better (I do have two BDDIs); it's also got a tuner. The SS-11 does a couple of distortions, differently. The HX-Stomp offers phasers, flangers, echo, and suchlike in one box. The little switch next to it is just up/down to step through the sounds rather than having the bigger model. The C4 Synth is fun, could flip to an 80's synth sound, do a Moog, whatever. Using the C4 with just its one switch doesn't really do much, so the MC-6 is to select sounds. The YYZ is because I wanted one! The switcher at the front switches each pedal individually in and out, rather than doing a dance over their on/off switches. It also allows changing pedal sounds with them out of circuit. In fairness, I do need to spend a bit more time with the HX and C4 to really get a definitive set of sounds. OTOH, if all I want is an always-on straight bass sound then I don't need a board or pedals at all.
  11. I haven't got my board wired up for stereo, yet...
  12. Yes, it says: "Simple stereo TRS to dual-mono TS splitter".
  13. Yep - my box shows 1x stereo (TRS) in -> 2x mono out. The Ric internal wiring is the two channels are discrete right up to the output jacks. The stereo TRS out has Tip=Treble pickup signal, Ring=Bass (neck) pickup signal, Sleeve=Gnd. When you plug a jack into the Normal/Mono output it pushes a contact to combine the Treble & Bass pickup signals together.
  14. I've seen things I'd like, but I just step away from those; just a load of meaningless babble which tells you absolutely nothing about the actual item for sale. I have a number of saved searches which exclude those phrases and also stupid words like "stunning" and "rare".
  15. I've used Rick-O-Sound to send the Bass pickup to one amp and the Treble pickup to another, or two channels of the same amp, or a mixer. It means you can optimise the sound for each pickup and eliminate interactions between the two (Geddy Lee used the stereo capability). The ROS cable is nothing special - just a stereo splitter; you can also buy expensive boxes to do the function, or this is my DIY "Hack-O-Sound" one (stereo/TRS jack input one side and 2x mono outputs the other). One of the downsides of using stereo is that you need stereo effects to use it or you route the pickups via separate Fx paths (that's what Chris Squire used stereo for), so it adds complexity to a pedalboard. Oftentimes, though, I just use the mono output to avoid the faff.
  16. These are the bass ones I bought; they also do guitar ones. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09BSZKQT5 I looked at a YT video and the person said the StuMac ones were the ones to go for if you're a pro, but these were good. I have a set of Hosco guitar ones and the slots are V-shaped, whereas I'd prefer vertical.
  17. Well, there are "Trigger's broom" instruments.
  18. I'm not into fake logos, including "upbranding" Squiers and suchlike; they cross the boundary between a copy/replica and counterfeits. But if someone wants to do it so they can stand in front of the mirror at home and pretend they've got a real one, then that's up to them. As for Frankensteins... 🙂
  19. Ssssh - you're not allowed to call out Limelights on BC!
  20. China isn't Japan, y'know.
  21. I've had cheapies and thought "these are cheapo"; I bought a set of MusicNomad ones via Amazon and they are rather good, definitely not cheapo!
  22. My Synth 9 pedal's Oberheim does the F# into pretty well. (He just said "Oberheim" as I wrote it!)
  23. I've been to Andy Baxter's shop in East London; he was a bit off with me because I went without an appointment and phoned him from the street outside, but it was a genuine bricks'n'mortar place.
