That's not what they're saying. As mentioned, they could have chosen any instrument, but they chose the bass because  bass and guitar are seen as being similar to many people.

The message says nothing other than "hey guitarist, why don't you try a [instrument] instead".

    are you their apologist?

they are saying "guitarists that are stinky poo can be bass players just by buying a bass" ie playing bass is easy

  2. we were booked on Nov 21 to re open a small club, was gonna go OFF. booked out in fact. Then, three days beforehand, a fwit pizza bar worker contracted covid from the pizza maker who also worked in a covid quarantine hotel. So we went into lockdown, for no real season, except the fwit lied and said he caught covid from a pizza box, omitting the fact he worked there. 4 days later we were out of lockdown, but our gig was on the 3rd day

    grrrrrrrrrrr

  3. thank you SO much for sharing this. My bandmates and I are huge Beatles fans. I've lost count how many guitarers claimed to have discovered this chord and it always sounds nothing like it lol.

Imagine all that effort....for an opening chord !

That is their and George Martin's genius. I do believe GM is as big a part of their success as the band was.

  4. they were great when no one knew who they were, they were "our secret". We covered a few of their early songs. Only one or two albums after Green appealed to me.

As for U2, should have split up after that aweful live version of Party Girl was released. Any band that didn't care if their crappy guitarist's crappy solo was released as their first EP was not deserving of success..............

I know, I didn't word that well. I was just using your post to kick start my point.

    Saul Goodman (s'all good, man :) )

I come from the generation that played in the 70s 80s and 90s, we broke ALL the rules, because we didn't know about them hehe

We mixed cabs, and even used guitar cabs

we used instrument cables to connect our heads to our cabs

we didn't know about this thing called a truss rod

    or intonation.......

  6. re-acquainting myself to Richard O'Brien's finest work, The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack.

I played in a Rocky Horrible tribute band in the 80s for a Miss Australia contestant's fundraiser and it was a blast. Easliy the best gig I played.

We had a killer band, male and female singers, guitars bass keys sax drums, all in costume.

I love the dynamics in his songs, in the basslines especially. Soft passages leading into full on rock and roll.

Science Fiction, Sweet Transvestite, Hot Patootie.

Can't listen to the Time Warp again though, it was overplayed to death over here in the 80s and 90s.

  7. $480AUD and that is best price lol, sorry Tech21 your products are now ridiculously priced. And I love T21, have many of them, VT, VT Deluxe,BDDI, Bass Fly Rig

  8. for a comp i recommend the TC Spectracomp because there are lots of presets you can load via your phone. Small footprint, one knob. You can change what parameters that one knob affects.

You probably don't need a pre amp pedal as you have an onboard preamp and the amp's as well.

  9. I still remember when my bandmate first played Moving Pictures to me. Especially YYZ.

    "That's it!" I excitedly said

    "what?" asked my mate

"The basslines I hear in my head that I wanna play but have no idea how"

Only took me another 30 years to figure them out lol rotfl sigh.....

  10. in my early playing days in the 80s and 90s I'd get so nervous that I wouldn't eat all day before a gig. I'd be dry retching just before going on. This time around, I am much better prepared, love playing with my buddies and only feel a bit of nerves. I guess at 57 I am more at ease with who I am.Plus this current band is much better than any other I've been in.

  11. My Hofner bass has light brown fret markers on the side, on a rosewood board making them invisible on any stage, dark or not.

My solution? A $2 sheet of address stickers and a hole punch. Cost? $6
Now my fretboard side sports 6mm white dots. hardest part is seperating the sticker from the backing hehe

my first thought was glow in the dark nail polish, second was Liquid Paper pen.
