  1. glad to hear. But it's not at rehearsal that they may play up. It's at a gig, with wifi for the patrons, big fridges cycling on and off, 100 punters' (hopefully) iphones , PA router  etc .

You won't know til you're out there, always have a cable at the ready , just in case. Even the best ones can run into interference.

  2. love Hipshot. They've got your back for years too.

I bought a used bridge and didn't instal it for a couple of years. The guy I bought it from didn't supply the saddle adjusting allen key,and all of mine were way too large.  I emailed Hipshot and they sent me 5, free of charge, express delivery USA to Australia.

  3. I have never ever considerred a Gibson bass, I've bought ten basses, no, eleven, in my lifetime. I doubt I even tried one, their pricing seems to be about double that of Fender so it wasn't even a thought in my mind, ever. No, wait, I did try a Tbird once, but it was an Epiphone lol. Hated it.

I do have an Epi LP, maybe Gibson will sue Epiphone too hehe

  4. From guitar.com:
After posting and then deleting a video threatening lawsuits against other instrument manufacturers, Gibson has followed through, suing Dean and Luna for copyright infringement-despite push-back from musicians.
From the video: “You have been warned, we’re looking out and we’re here to protect our iconic legacy.”
    From Guitar.com News:
Among other allegations, Gibson is accusing Armadillo, which also owns drum maker Ddrum, of running afoul of seven of its trademarks. These include the body shape design of the Flying V, Explorer, ES and SG, as well as the ‘Dove Wing’ headstock design, the ‘Hummingbird’ name and the ‘Moderne’ trademark.
Gibson has not vigorously defended its trademark for some time so this might not go so well in court.

UPDATE: Armadillo Enterprises has responded to the news of the suit in a letter to the company’s dealers, strongly refuting the claims made in Gibson’s complaint.
Armadillo CEO Evan Rubinson describes the suit as “entirely baseless” and says, “we will vigorously defend ourselves and seek to cancel Gibson’s alleged trademark registrations” while also claiming that, “We respect and value the intellectual property rights of others. But… some things are just too common and basic for one company to claim as their own property.”

Personally, I've seen the Gibson 3+3 headstock on many many acoustic guitars made way before Gibson was around.
Last act of a sinking ship perhaps?

  5. since 6th November? that IS a little long.......:)

kinda joking, but that is how the whole world sees that date, apart from the USA and one more country I think? And this is not a US site :)

you did very well to understand what the seller was asking hehe kudos to your interpretive skills :)

to answer you, yeah I wouldn't worry, but don't let him string it out any longer

  6. Johnny Cash was recording "Ring of Fire" in the studio.

    It was lacking SOMETHING.

Nothing really worked. They took a break.

At the same time the brass section from the Tijuana Brass band were exiting the other studio when the producer said "hey could you lay something down for us?"

And that, boys and girls was how the song became a hit. It's nothing without the horns

  7. how can the line in on the Steinberg also be the line out to the monitors? does not make sense, sorry. You say "line in to the monitors" this is impossible.

can u post a pic of your setup?

  8. nothing like doing take after take coz the drummer drops a beat right near the end every time.

THEN your new 'manager' says, can you try a completely different bassline?

Like not once at a rehearsal was anything mentioned, not even at the start of the session, but you wait til I'm friggin frustrated at the drummer  after ten takes to butt in?

We finished our debut CD, then immediately split up.

    far king managers

  9. Hi

just popped in to say hi

I don't play covers in my bands, only originals. BUT I learn covers from bands I like, to improve my playing and to get ideas for my basslines.

It's a good way to learn music

I'm away from my studio so can't listen with any decent gear so I'll listen tomorrow.

    keep sharing

  10. I am an old fogie and still buy CDs, but I'm just about the only person I know who does.

Gotta say, it's much easier just uploading your songs to Bandcamp and your FB page. No bastard pays for music anymore, just give it away.

We made more money with one T shirt run of 36 than any music sales hehe

  11. I have an Am Std P and an MIM P from 2013, both are great players. The Am Std definitely has a better finish, a rolled fingerboard and string thru high mass bridge.

But gig wise, I use both without worrying about which is nicer, they both play well.

Then again, I'm no snob, I've gigged all my basses this year, my MIM P and J, my MIA P, my SX J and Hofner BB, and my ABG before I sold it

  12. I played cheap basses most of my 40 years of playing. But this latest time around, after a break, I bought a Fender MIM Jazz, and was happy,as I played Jazz copies in the past. But then I bought an Am Std P bass and BOOM, all of a sudden my playing sounded just like all the songs I've been listening to for over 57 years lol.

    Just get one.

  13. I also have two P basses.

I thought it a bit redundant to put flats on both, so I tried D'Addario Half Rounds on one and love them. With the tone dimed they sound like rounds, with the tone dialled off they sound like flats. Best of both worlds.

My band play a mix of covers with some original material thrown in, it's nice to see the crown dancing to the originals.

sometimes the punters are brave enough to actually dance to a tune they haven't heard a thousand times, other punters just don't notice hehe.

Commonly at our gigs in the 80s

Punter " was that an original song?"

Singer "depends on whether you liked it or not"
