  1. ...it's arrived then. Bigger and heavier than I expected, yep I knew the specs, but its all good - very solid cab! Not had chance to try it yet though. Still can't get over the price, its £682 at PMT!!!!! The only thing thats niggling me is the lack of feet on the side (or even underneath & not checked yet) - I was thinking of lying this horizontally under a 410, but don't really want to put it directly onto the floor. May look into some sort of rubber feet things that I can place down under it first.
  2. Just gave you page a like for that - brilliant job!
  3. Yep - absolute fosters take - they take 10% of any postal charges. So I use Parcel2Go, nothing to do with ebay - yet they still take 10% of what ever I charge my buyer - so there is a reason why charges seem excessive!
  4. and bought..! Got a Hot Covers cover too. At this price, you could buy them and sell them for £400 on eBay!! Someones got a 2nd hand one up there for £350.
  5. Good point, yes fully insured can bump the price up quite a lot.
  6. I'm a big fan of all the songs - 80's rock being exactly my thing, so can watch this despite the many negatives - still end up quite enjoying it though.
  7. But it's there for you to see before you bid, if he charges £40 and it costs £10, then he makes £30 - but he'll also get ebay fees for the £40 charge - yes Ebay also take a percentage of any delivery charges. Yes, it's a lot, but it's your choice to bid or not. Once you have the item you could contact him and ask about the excessive charges - or contact him now and ask him will it really cost that much?
  8. Haa, yes indeed - thank god for that extra address!!! Plus the old... "What do you mean 'Is that new?' - shows how much attention you pay, I've had it for ages..!!!"
  9. bloody 'el people - you're not helping - something else that I need to 'hide' on a credit card...!
  10. Other RS variants are reduced too on their site, so looks pretty legit. Bugger, was looking to spend £150 on a second hand GK 212 from ebay, but its VERY hard to overlook this deal now.
  11. Just looking to try some different options and adding some beef to the bottom end (currently using a Gallien Kruger MBE 410 + Ashdown ABM 408), and have been looking at 212s, when I found this... https://www.andertons.co.uk/tc-electronics-rebel-stack-rs212-2x12-bass-cab-991000002?LGWCODE=991000002;56375;6335&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_FkStF1mL7PavZwlhIS2pFJ6mGAkCg1pNqsN7o8YhfSGB1Fv0K7mLkaAk6FEALw_wcB Seems a very good price!
  12. Well, after some humming and ahhhing... My 50th birthday present turned up last Friday. Fender Precision Professional in Candy Apple Red, from PMT in Manchester. Initially I was wanting a Precision Active Deluxe (in surf pearl) but after trying one in Dawsons and comparing to the American Pro they had it was clear that the American version for far superior – to me anyway. Possibly just down to the string through body, but it just literally sang, felt so much more alive and I thought the quality of ‘heft’ was particularly telling – it felt more solid. Then after spending an hour or so on my birthday (with an unusually attentive wife...!!!) trying their American Pro (which actually didn’t feel brilliantly set-up compared to the one at Dawsons) I picked up a Nat Mandel Precision. flip, I wish I hadn’t!!! Immediately the output of its Quarter Pounders was so marked – quite a bit louder and with a more pronounced growl – also I think the neck was more appealing, very familiar to my Yamaha BB424 so that was probably the reason it felt good. But, the Pro won out for me. It’s a special thing to me this – I can’t see me spunking this much money again on a guitar – I know, I know it’s only a bloody mid range bass, but as I say it’s a special purchase this so it had to be the American Pro – plus you get a lovely case too Ordered it last Wednesday and it arrived on Tuesday, but could only pick it last Friday due to work commitments. Picked it up and its perfect!! I’m a fussy git, but couldn’t find a single thing wrong with it – both in how it plays and cosmetically. The boys and PMT were awesome too – unknown to me, my Mum and Dad had nipped in 4 days earlier to pay off the remainder after my deposit and they played along with it right up until the end when I was about to pay when they then gave me an invoice saying nothing to pay! They also chucked in guitar stand too. Played it on Saturday night at a gig and it was brilliant - the neck is definetley different to what I'm used to, but it's by no means a negative. The action is so much better, more easier to play and it’s tone is unmistakably P-bass, plus got lots of comments on the colour from the ladies too – really, really pleased with it. ...Just need to learn to play proper now.
  13. I use one of these, and it works perfectly.... https://www.gak.co.uk/en/vox-amplug-2-headphone-amp-bass/103325?gclid=Cj0KCQiA-ebSBRC8ARIsAGuxJIqIx_8Z28xdqBUpRmDKuhIMbGWpiIhWa7E3NfwoKLnuyNdLq6yFEPoaAvFsEALw_wcB
  14. haaa - yeah, I thought that as I wrote - style over substance and all that...!!! DEFINELTY!!!
  15. What ever works for you! If that's what you have to do then fair enough.
  16. Cheers Dan - appreciate it. Looking at American Pros now - don't so the surf Pearl though https://www.reidys.com/pr/electric-guitars/fender-american-pro-p-bass-rw-olympic-white-23617/?&utm_source=GoogleBase&utm_medium=Feed&utm_campaign=PriceComparison&gclid=CjwKCAiA1uHSBRBUEiwAkBCtzcKKiS6K3tO0BDveh07H57CLnC6y_kk0agXJtL-PJHtcGFW9g0H2lxoC4kkQAvD_BwE and they come with the fancy case - saving £150 ish Bugger!
  17. is that supposed to mean something - or we still in the 60's and I should beat her until she does???? We can't all be knuckle dragging alpha males eh??? FFS!
  18. Personally I wouldn't (and never have) practice without headphones - for one, the wife wouldn't put up with it and secondly I'd hate for the neighbours to be doing the very same thing - can't imagine anythgn worse than a booming bass drone coming through the walls. In fact, during an on-going 'feud' with our adjoining neighbours about noise levels ( and his fecking DIY at 8:30am on a Saturday morning) they've been playing a radio at pretty loud levels, and after speaking to Environmental Health about it they say that if you can hear it enough to make out what song it is then it's too loud - you're entitled to sit in your own house and not be forced to listen to something you don't want to! It also seems that recently Councils are really cracking down on anti-social noise levels so I'd think carefully about how you preceed with this and how very quickly and easily she can escalate this! Decent set of headphones is the answer.
  19. Sad news indeed. Still find it hard to believe that anyone in this 'day and age' can die from Pneumonia. But only this morning it clamed the life of an 18 year old too. This image has been kicking about on Facebook, which I've found quite poignant... Great watch here ....
  20. I'd love to try one -nearest seems to be Brighton though - 260 miles away.
  21. Thanks Guys. Oops - yeah, sorry jumped sraight in there eh - I did post an intro post a while ago though. As mentioned, I reckon I pretty much getting it and as you say it's very much a personal thing where the colour combo and 'precision' thing just does it for me at the moment. Dan - thanks for that, it's defo this colour I 'NEED' - and as it's a special purchase I'd rather it be new. Never played this specific model, but played a few Mexicans which like you say is pretty much the same - and liked the way they played.
  22. I've only been playing bass now for about 20 months (although played guitar for 20 odd years), and play in a rock/pop covers band - brilliant set of lads and we have an absolute blast. In 2 weeks I'm 50 and want to buy something special - as in a new bass. I've very drawn to this thing... and it's probably right there in how much money I can afford (saved up birthday/chrimbo/gig money).... Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special Surf Pearl PF I love the colour and would like to have the tone flexibilities. https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/electric-bass-guitars/fender-deluxe-active-precision-bass-special-surf-pearl-pf?gclid=Cj0KCQiAs9zSBRC5ARIsAFMtUXG8tHBCm0zSnuonJCeTexELdOViYaS5jI9XfIcG82ZV97wypo9D3XwaAlhNEALw_wcB Plus another £130(ish) for a decent case. I've never played this particular one (although I've tried and liked simiar Precisions in shops) - but to be honest if 90% of the bass playing world can manage with them then I'm sure that, at my particular skill curve, I can live with it! Any opinions would be greatly appreciated - I'm pretty much convinced Im gettting this (love the colour, the looks and am impressed by how they play), but it's always good to look at other things I've not considered. This is my current set-up: Yamaha BB424 Hartke LH500 amp. Gallien Krueger 410 MBE-II 8 Ohm Ashdown MAG 410 8 0hm
  23. Allow me to introduce myself… I’ve come into this bass lark very suddenly. An opportunity arose 2 months ago to help a mate out in his band, their bass player had left and I was asked if I’d like to step up. I’ve played guitar on and off for 30 years (to no great standard, but decent) but didn’t really want to commit to any band situation due to my work situation – only getting home at 7:45pm everyday and potential late nights at the drop of a hat (I’m in advertising) I didn’t think it fair to be a position that might end up letting people down. But, I’m 48, the chance came along and I thought “Yeah! Bollocks to it!” So got myself a Yamaha BB424 for £150, a Marshall MB4210 for £125 and an Ashdown 1x15 extension cab for £100. Since then, and you know how this goes from here, I’ve added a hard case and a Polytune2. Loads to learn (both gear & music wise) but played my first gig 2 weeks and loved it (really well received - great pub in Chorley) playing the usual rock covers – The Hives, The Strokes, Jimmy Eat World, Oasis, Billy Idol, The Cult, ZZ Top etc, etc. I think Im fortunate that I’m in a band with 3 other guys who don’t take ourselves seriously, don’t want to play Wembley anymore and just want to have a laugh and get the crowd to enjoy themselves. Now looking for better gear...
