I too like the look of the short scale. More colour options would be nice.

If you can't find this bass, or you are looking to build on like it, Musikraft offer a round lam fingerboard option, I can highly recommend them
Is that the one you used on that YOB build you did? Awesome job, btw.

If I were still gigging loads (or at all it seems), I’d be getting on the LFSYS train.

I love Jabba’s builds! Unfortunately I’m not in a position to take this off your hands, but it would be pretty damn awesome if I was - I’ve been thinking a lot about short scales recently, and headlesses, and ‘not fender-shaped’. Dang!
Can you please remind me of the scale length, “nut” width and weight please?

I have blue silks like that on my D’Addario flats, too. That may or may not help…

What were the import duties & wait times like, @Berserker? I love the look of Thunderbird pickups and see some in my future. The link you sent had them at the most reasonable price I’ve seen.

That looks ace! I like the contrast between the shiny shiny chrome and the antique-style body finish. Love TB pickups.

Decided I'm going to actively look for gigging work again, if anyone will have me at my advanced age.
To that end, and because I just happen to have the wherewithal at the moment, I've ordered a Squier Sonic Bass in Cali Blue, two sets of Fender flats (the real Fender needs new strings!), a decent Speakon cable, and... a second Barefaced One10 with cover!
So, have a small, light, versatile rig that won't endanger all the metalwork in my back. Still only using the Elf, but it will give me the option of a 500W amp should I need it. Also means I can put the entire rig in a Smart Car, with room to spare. Not that I have something that small...
I know it's not quite Christmas yet, but it feels a bit like it.
Yay!
Being a simple fellow, I’m mostly here for the pictures. Pop some up?

Future 500, but 200 through 2 efficient 10s will probably be enough to damage hearing 😂

Quick rig rundown if ya don't mind
I've a couple of Zooms (B1Xon and B1on) and guitar and bass amps...
My Son (and me) would like to know, see if we can get near...
Bass goes in to a Donner splitter pedal, one signal goes to a Korg Pitchblack tuner (so he can mute the bass too), on to a bass amp.
2nd signal goes to a Mooer Tender Octaver to go octave up only, in to a EHX Big Muff, on to a guitar combo.
Started with a Zoom (MS60?) and added to it. Zoom octaver is pants, so tried a sub’n’up, then eventually settled on the Mooer.
The lad has got a good ear and knows what sound he’s after. Coupled with my uncontrollable urge to buy bass-related stuff…. well, I’m doomed.

Son Of Pea Turgh’s New Bass Day!
My son absolutely loves Royal Blood - been to see them twice, he knows all of the songs, and has mostly been nicking my Toby pro 4 (the cheap 90’s licenced one), playing it through an elaborate pedalboard and dual amp set up. Nails the sound.
He got a job in a local rehearsal studio and saved up to buy a Junior Jet - the final piece of the puzzle!
I found one on eBay collection only and convinced the seller to post. Sorted.
It turned up this afternoon (two days early - bonus), and oh my…
Really nicely set up, low action, looks brand new. Fitted with D’Addario flats (a preference he’s picked up from me). Padded gig bag too.
Plays soooo nicely. Sounds great.
Heres a screenshot of the video I sent him when he was in school to let him know it arrived safely 😂

Also check it from the inside (looks like it’s close to the control routing) - might need a dab in there too if the crack got that deep.

I was wondering if the trick with a wet cloth and iron would work to raise the wood underneath, if the crack has gone all the way through the paint and any sealer under it.
As usual, I don’t know the answer but will chip in anyway - the iron & wet cloth trick might lift more paint off. I’d go with the runny superglue stabilising option, myself.

Dang and blast - stuck down at the last minute with something resembling the ‘Rona. Was hoping I’d be miraculously cured this morning. Alas, I was not.
Use that spare bubble wrap to send some leftovers to me?
Have a goodn’, chaps & chapettes.

I popped a note in the wanted section before, but alas, no bites. Thought I’d ask here just in case, but anyone own a red Gretsch Junior Jet they are contemplating parting with? Can meet at the bash to avoid postage woes?

Black anodized aluminium?
-
A thought occurred to me - the aluminium plate has less screw holes as it’s stiffer/stronger, so doesn’t need as much support as the plastic. Maybe standard 10 hole scratchplate doesn’t exist for that reason?

I object to your choice of ranking. Could have gone alphabetically, chronologically or sorted by colour but nooooo...
You’re not even on the list! 😂

Not familiar with the bass, or what you want out of it, but I’ll share my thoughts anyway!
A decent loom will open things right up, so see how that fares firstly.
A set of P pickups will likely be a different size, and any attempts to disguise that will look shite.
I’d suggest a nice set of flats (LaBella low tensions) and maybe try a block of foam under the strings by the bridge - thud it up a little. Play closer to the neck and that , I assume, would get you closer to where I assume you might want to be. Cheaper than a new set of pups, anyhoo.

Might just wait til one of you lot gets bored of it and pick one up in the classifieds early 2024 😂

I have a full set from my old Jack. I think. Did the Jack have a dual concentric pot? Anyway, let me know if you want them.
