At the SWBB I played some lovely instruments, two of my favourites were both fitted with LaBella low tension flats.  Decision made - I need them.

Hang on though - there are Low Tension Flats, and Low Tension Flexible Flats.  What’s the difference?  Cost is one I can see - £65 vs £43 respectively.

Ooh, and it can be daisy-chained by kettle lead, too!  I do very much like the look of that.  In the Thomann basket it goes…

So the Nordell has 7x 9v 100mA outputs, a 9v 500mA, 12v 100mA & 18v 100mA.

Borrowed an EHX Double Muff (9v 100mA) - works but noisy as hell.

 The Little Bear (9v 200mA) works for a short period of time but then stops.  Works brilliantly in isolation.

These distortions are trying to replace my Zoom MS70cdr (9v 500mA) which worked perfectly (I just want it back!)

Is this an analogue/digital conflict?

Bass blogger: 9v 10mA

Korg Pitchblack: 9v 20mA

TC Sub’n’up: 9v 100mA

Little Bear R.Attack RT2 9v 200mA

All centre-negative.

330mA required in total?
 

I just plugged the pedals in to the supposedly correct outputs on the Nordell, and it seemed to work for about 15 seconds, then just buzzes.  Assume my power supply is now faulty?

Will have a look now…

Hola peeps.  My boy is going down the effects rabbit hole big time.  Only been playing since May but he’s making excellent progress.

He’s hit a snag though - the distortion pedals at the end of his present chain aren’t happy/aren’t working properly.

Bit of a funny set up - Royal Blood-style.

Bass goes in to EHX Bass Blogger, affected output goes to a Korg Pitchblack tuner (for muting the bass channel) then in to the bass amp.

The ‘clean’ out from the Blogger goes to a TC Sub’n’Up (on “up” only), then in to a Little Bear R.attack RT2 (possibly to be swapped out with a Big Muff at a later date), on to a guitar amp.

All currently powered with a Nordel Audio Power Core.  Says isolated, but at £34 I don’t believe it.

Am I right in thinking digital & analog pedals don’t like sharing power supplies?

Can anyone recommend a suitable power supply with enough oomph to power the above pedals adequately?

Could have been the room you were in?  Don’t write it off based on one gig.  I did that with a bass, but we were playing a regular gig in a place with terrible acoustics.

I had my PF350 on a lovely stage in a great venue the other night (through a BF Two10) and had the first opportunity in about 4 or 5 years to turn it all the way up.  (P)F me, that was impressive!

No Jaguar?  Damn.

Hello.  I dip in to this thread now and again in the hope of absorbing some knowledge.  I have a pair of ZS10 in-ears and am looking at getting a Behringer P1 so I can go through the very decent PA we ofen use.  Got me thinking though - Is there a system for wireless bass signal send and monitor receive, so there’s only one pack on your strap?

It was!  The driver and amp looked like alright bits of kit!  Would have made a nice practice amp.

I would like to understand what went wrong, so any suggestions are very welcome.

So a drum kit in a tiny courtesy car forced my hand yesterday - I took just this tiny cab to rehearsal.  Kept it backed off and the bass EQ turned low to start.  Gradually started adding more volume and bass til I got it up to an impressive sound (relative to the tiny size of it!) I can’t see it keeping up with my lively 9 piece soul band, but it can definitely do a rehearsal with drums, guitar & keys.  Love it!

My mate had an old Laney CP12 powered wedge.  100 watts in to 8ohms.

He said it needed a new speaker, asked me if I wanted it for parts.

Fired it up - seemed ok.  A bit crackly.  Sprayed a bit of cleaner in the pots, left it a few hours.  Switched it back on, played bass through it for a bit.  Crackles got a lot worse, then made some really loud pops.

 I’m thinking a blown speaker would just make farting noises, but this still had what appeared to be a full frequency spectrum (with added random nasty sounds)

Checked all the internal connections - all good.

Switched it back on, no sound from the input, maybe mains frequency buzz and smoke started to emulate from the back of the driver.

I’m thinking it’s the amp unit rather than the speaker (at least until smoke came out of it 😂).

Does anyone recognize these symptoms?  Is it an easy fix, or is it definitely dead?  I know it’s probably not financially viable for a tech to do, and possibly quite dangerous for me.  Maybe I just want to understand what went wrong so I could learn to let it go!

Bought an EHX Bass Blogger from @BreadBinat the SW Bass Bash (cheers dude!). You are of course right, Brandon - the dual outs are perfect.  Gone is the splitter, the bass goes in to the Bass Blogger, wet signal goes to the tuner so he can have clean or distorted bass, also mute the bass.  Dry signal goes to the Sub’n’Up on up only (no dry signal at all) in to the Zoom for guitar-type distortions.

Bloody marvellous!

Still haven’t managed to get my Zoom back for my rig though 😂

In a listening test at the SW bass bash, these were the best sounding.  I see one in my future.

Emlyn loved his first bass bash, and is absolutely landed with his prize, so again, thank you @fiatcoupe432 for donating the bass and @yorks5stringerfor donating the gig bag to the draw!  Also thank you @BreadBinfor the pedal.  This means I get my own bass and zoom pedal back from the dark depths of the lad’s room!

Played @wrinkleygit’s @Jabba_the_gut hollow-bodied fretless - I now “get” fretless!  I need one (of Jabba’s) in my life, together with one of @stevie’s new cabs.  What a combination that would be!!!
