  1. Yes the neck is skinny. It sounds so much different to the Spitfire with the same strings I am wondering if Status have changed their strings. Looks wise I am not fussed. Preferred the quilt maple on the one in Kent but he wants a lot more money so he didn't get mine.

  2. I am not convinced about Markbass cabs. Your budget will strech to the Nemesis RS400 but if you want proper Eden you need to look for used. There was a couple of David Series 2x10's for sale but they were not the neo and I cant recall anyone having the neo's.

There have been a few Genz Shuttles sold on recently so you might be lucky.

  3. No indication of budget? Dont know how they compare to Eden cos I never used it, but the Genz Benz Shuttle and NeoX210T (50 lbs) would be a cracking rig. Eden do a D210XST Neo cab that comes in at 49 lbs and the Nemesis N210RS at 47 lbs.

Tecamp do some nice light cabs and amps as well. These have not been available but seeing as BGM reviewed some this month I assume they will be in the shops soon. The S210 is 39 lbs and the M210 40 lbs.

Exactly! It sounds louder because you are boosting the treble and bass and cutting the mids. But in a band context you sometimes need the mids to cut through the other instruments so it can be the wrong sort of loud. Sometimes its better to turn off the pre-shape and turn up the volume.

What is it like at gigging volumes? Does it cut through enough without a tweeter?

  6. I have always taken the output limit light as a warning rather than a target ;)

One of the reasons for the popularity of modern basses with a bright sound is they dont suck up all your watts with bottom end so you dont need to be so loud to hear what you are playing. I dont get moaned at for being too loud half as much as I used to since I went for more hi-fi amps and basses :P

  7. Is it the input or output clip light that is coming on? The input light will just drive the valve and the output light means the limiter is kicking in. It wont actually damage the amp but it may affect the sound. I do think you maybe need another cab. Thats why I got the NeoX rather than the shuttle cabs.

As for the ungrateful c**ts, tell them they can supply the rig next time ;)

  8. Yes I use a Shuttle 6.0 and 2 NeoX112T cabs. Sometimes I only plug the top cab in. I like it a lot. Given the cabs you are considering then a trip to Bass Direct may be in order. The NeoX and Berg HT do sound very different and I cant say which you would prefer. The NeoX is much lighter despite what the specs say. I have not tried the Berg AE cabs.

  9. I made a list of all the lightweight cabs over on finnbass while I was punished for being a naughty boy. IIRC the lightest 1x15 is the Tecamp. Lightweight 2x15 is about as likely as a lightweight 8x10 ;)
