PM me with your requirements and I’ll see what I can do
Many thanks for the offer my friend..but miraculously, I've managed to track down and order the parts from a place in America.
thanks again for your generous offer, and general 'great guy' vibe.👍👍

I remember a website from a guy who sells replica SureGrip knobs and EQ knobs for Ibanez Musicians and Artists. They're identical to the ones used on these Greco's. I can't find it anymore though!
Edit: Nevermind. Right here! Wickedly expensive at 12 dollars PER KNOB though, and there's a shipping fee.

Thanks Lefty...I stumbled across repro guitar parts a couple of days ago, and have placed an order. You're right, they're expensive but they had the bridge posts, knobs, and special truss rod tool I needed.

Just managed to source some very scarce parts for my recently acquired Greco GOB1200...if anyone has a vintage Ibanez, or other Jap exotica check out this great guys website.

The Shergold range of basses and guitars from the 70's used obeche as the body wood..Shergold marathon bass, and masquerader guitars.

My nephew manages a machine shop. How much work is involved?
Very little...basically 2 brass posts that are threaded...easy for a machinist.
-
Just bought a vintage bass, and I need 2 bridge posts made , as the current ones have been bodged around with....looks like something a guy with a lathe could make...anyone no anyone that might help. Each post has 2 different threaded sections.
There must be a talented machinist on the firm surely?

That is a thing of beauty! Very nice find.
What kind of parts? These have a few things in common with Ibanez Musicians (MC900 specifically), but also some distinctly unique features.
I believe that serial number dates it to July 1978 btw, not 1977 as the auction reads.
The bridge looks like it is slightly bent under de tension of the strings?
I'm looking for an eq knob, as one of them is damaged. The bridge thing is an illusion.. the way the bridge is adjusted from the bridge posts makes the bridge tilt forward.. I thought the same thing when I checked out the pics. I'm also after a pair of bridge posts...any ideas?... I'll check out sources for Ibanez Spares and see if I get lucky.
thanks for the info.

You know that lovely feeling when a bass you've been gassing for years shows up, coinciding with having the cash?
Just happened to me..I'm over the moon. I've been drooling over this bass for many years..picked it up a few hours ago.
It has many dings and chips, but all the controls seem to work.
Not sure whether to play it as it is or restore to its former glory.
What say you fine gentlemen?
PS does anybody know of a source of spares for these basses?

I really wanted a fretless Retrovibe Zygote that was on eBay but couldn't quite free up the cash in time. It sold for £270.
A couple of months later I was buying a fretted Zygote from David@retrovibe, happened to mention the fretless one - imagine my dismay when I found out it was the only one in existence. I was properly upset I can tell you.
I remember that bass!
I ummed and Ahhhhed about that too...never realised it was the only one!

No idea, but it should make it easier for you to land one either way
I hope it has the same spec as the originals..including the Piezo.
Thanks mate..that's great news!

Any idea of the prices?

I did a search of sold listings on that bass and nothing came up ? It should have done as it was only this week you said it sold. Just curious about the bass
It was listed as " no longer available ".. I was in contact with the seller, who told me it was sold to a chap in Germany..must've sorted it outside ebay I reckon.

I guess we've all been there, waiting with some money put aside for THAT bass you've been waiting for to turn up for sale.
In my case earlier this week the bass of my desire was up on ebay..a fretless Ibanez Affirma 4 string..in lovely condition. The original asking price was perhaps slightly more than its worth...but because I faffed about waiting for the price to come down ( and it did!)..... another less fussy bassist bought it.

YUP.
The one that got away!
Gutted.
Anyone else have a similar tale of woe?

Is this to replace an existing component? If so I'd get in touch with the manufacturer of the guitar in question and ask them where they got them from.
I know you've said that you want a potentiometer specifically, but with 10 detents there's not going to be a lot of room for positioning the wiper between the detents, so how about a 10 way rotary switch with resisters of the appropriate value soldered to each position?
It's to replace 3 standard pots.
The 10 way rotary switch is a good idea but I don't think it's going to be possible to get 3 10 way rotary switches and fix them to the scratch plate ..and also they would require me to re rout the control cavity.
-
The reason I'm asking is that I have an instrument fitted with Alan Entwistles ATN system, and some of the pot settings are 7,8,9 (or other) on the pots..I wanted a neat accurate and quick way of dialling in those tones.

Trace Elliot used multi detent pots on their amps, they were made by Alpha Taiwan.
I would look at RS components or the other online electronic component suppliers.
I'll look into it thanks, it's seems difficult to find ones suitable for mounting onto a scratch plate, and of correct value.

@ alembic1989 Are you thinking of the 'click washer' ayatem used under the tone knob on the Fender '60 stacked Jazz controls?
No KiOgon..Im looking for a genuine multi detent pot..thanks.

I'm looking for some pots with 10 detents, for use on bass or g****r. 250/500k.
Does anyone here know of a supplier?
thanks in advance.

There was a broken connection between the copper winding and the wire to the preamp..I located it on the actual solder point on the pick up. So I cut the copper wire, unwound 1 turn, carefully cleaned the shellac off the wire with wire wool, and resoldered it....it worked! So relieved, the sale can now go ahead.
-
The pick up was open circuit.
-
Well, Sire emailed me today, and told me that they were very sorry about my problem, and that they would supply me a pick up SET for $59 , but I'd have to pay for the shipping ( there would also be a customs charge). The price is of course very reasonable,
however I only wanted the neck pick up, and they won't supply it by itself....also I'm probably looking at around £80-90 in the end.
I have a buyer for my bass, and was gutted when I found out the pick up wasn't working, so having to spend another load of money on it..all of a sudden I'm taking a big hit.
I managed to find the fault on the pick up this morning, and fixed it myself, it now works perfectly, so I won't be taking them up on their offer.
So there you have it....the stories of being sent free replacement parts from Sire was certainly not true in my case, but they were trying to be helpful...and if I actually needed a set..the price was very reasonable..as they're actually very nice pick ups.
