1.
'P' bass , to me , sounds like something a copy manufacturer would do to avoid a law suit.
haha yeah +1
 2.
I think initially it is easier to to get the "feel" right for a genre of music you feel passionate about
+1 yeah definitely
 3. Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyperdrive.
 4. Love the distorted tone at the beginning of Wind Below on Evil Empire, sounds great. This is quite interesting (if no ones posted it already) http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?display_article=75
 5. Could anyone recommend a set of long lasting roundwound strings that cost around £20ish?
 6.
Was just wondering... Mines superb in rehearsals, great sound - just how I want it, plenty loud enough. I've done a few gigs with it, the last in a large vennue ( 250/300 seater) with a 2X10 extension cab and through a (moderate) PA. We're unlikely to do anything as big in the near future. Although plenty loud enough in sound check, it got lost in the background at times during the gig and we had to really ramp up the PA at half time. In saying that I was only at 2/3 max on the amp. I don't think it was the volume but couldn't cut through the rest of the band. I've had a compressor suggested but was wondering if others had a similar problem. C
i think i know what you mean but just whacking up the mid and high mid usually gets rid of the problem
 7.
I have one of these amps. I've used it on a few gigs of various sizes. Are you using it for gigs or practice only - just curious to know your opinions. C
yeah i've used it for a few gigs, none of them particularly large though.
 8. About ten minutes ago I turned the amp on and, as usual, the light in the input level dial turned on and the needle moved when I played, however no sound was coming out of the speaker. The output was at a decent level, and I checked the connection from head to speaker on the back of the amp but that was fine. What could it be? Thanks
 9.
I had this problem with mine initially but it's sorted now. It seems to have fixed itself and it hasn't happened for months now.
Yeah same with mine, i think it may be because i now press the footswitch harder
 10. I'm looking for a new precision neck that has a maple fingerboard preferably for £100 or less, where could i get one and would it fit a 2002 MIJ Precision?
 11. When punters tell you it must be easier to play bass than guitar because it has less strings.
oh my god +1 ha
 12.
RMI or 321 to you squire.... Oh and I just do 3 fingers at all times, not so much for speed (although it helps) as it just feels nicer (I'm a freak, just let it go alright....)
haha same
 13.
I use it all the time, even for slow things. For me there's no real disadvantage, but I get so much more agility from it. I play ring-middle-index all the time.
whenever i use just middle and index i feel like im gonna forget how to play with the ring finger
 14. ashdown james lomenzo - can get a few sounds out of it which all sound great
 15.
I have just one thing to say to you. DiMarzio. Actually that was several words but I think you'll be able to find something meaningful in amongst all the gibberish.
lol +1
 16.
I have learnt that whenever I think my bass sounds a bit plop to buy new strings - it is the single best GAS cure there is.
yep ha
 17. After some research into replacement bridges, badass and gotoh seem to be popular options. Clearly the badass bridge is more expensive than the gotoh - is the badass better for improving the tone of the bass? Thanks
 18. yeah i'd say that singing over a chord sequence would be helpful, i would also say the pentatonic scale is good to use and sticking to that for a while seemed to work for me, and then i started to use other scales to improvise with. Get as familiar as you can with the scale and the shape that you're playing on the fingerboard, and (i dont know if this will help) just play any note you want from the scale in a half random rythm. When you go from one note to the other decide whether you want to go up or down in the scale and play a rythm that you imagine in your head. As I said this might not work for everyone, but seemed to work for me..
