  1. Yeah, I've seen the specs list it as 500ma, but the 1 Spot Pro only has 12v at 100ma, which isn't nearly enough. The DC10 looks like a nice option, but I wouldn't be able to run all my pedals at once, as it looks like a couple of the output are either/or pairs? That's if I've understood how it works The Ciokolate, now /that/ is an impressive looking beast...
  2. I need more powaahh!! I've had a Two Notes Audio Le Bass for a while now, and absolutely adore it, but it's proving a little annoying to power I've been running it off of its own power supply which came with the pedal (12v 1A), whist all my others are running on a One Spot Pro CS12. Great power supply, but it can't provide the current for the Le Bass at 12v. And I'd rather not have to lug around a second power supply Anyone know of an isolated power-brick style supply that can handle Le Bass? I'm currently running 10 pedals including the Le Bass, and besides it and a Bass Whammy they're all low current (100ma or less) 9v pedals (Whammy can be powered nicely by 300+ma 9v, from what I can gather, so not an issue). Ideally I'd like a couple more outlets for possible additions to the board, so around 12 outputs total would be fab. Cheers in advance, Kieron
  3. Update: Through some digging around, I've stumbled upon the Source Audio Aftershock. This pedal looks like it can do everything!! And as I'm sure it can pull off a nice aggressive distortion sound, along with a host of other tones, I'm seriously tempted to buy one What are people's experiences with it?
  4. @gs_triumph The Rodenberg looks excellent, but is a little above my (student!) budget at the moment @dannybuoy Oohh, I'd forgotten that the MXR bass distortion had Fuzzrocious heritage, that's another one to check out. Along with all those EHX pedals! The Quest for the Drive is never ending, it seems Suppose I was to insist on a Rat type pedal (not that I am, just curious) would a straight up Turbo be my best bet? Are there any specific types/reissues to keep an eye out for? Or would the Cat Tail be more than enough?
  5. For a while now I've had a Boss LS-2 line selector, and it's always been center of my sound as a way of running two different overdrive/distortion pedals in parallel. Over the last couple of years I've sifted through various drive, distortion and fuzz pedals, and I've settled on the Darkglass B3K for fairly aggressive but still natural overdrive. But I can't seem to find a partner for it! Specifically I'm looking for a very aggressive, mid-focused sounding distortion, to compliment the slightly scooped nature of the Darkglass. I was using a Chowny Fuzzster, but have since decided I'm not using/feeling fuzz for the music I'm writing. My first instinct is to get a Rat (I love Justin Chancellor's tone with his Turbo Rat), but that opens up a whole plethora of options. Vintage, Turbo, Fuzzrocious, there are so many Rat variants and clones that I wouldn't know where to start! Low end loss isn't a huge priority, as I have the LS-2 to blend in either a clean signal, or the nice fat sound of the B3K. But a nice mid-present sound is a must. So what I'm asking is, what do people recommend for that sort of distortion pedal?
  6. I have a mk1, would be interesting to hear how this one differs Not that I should be looking for excuses to give Darkglass more of my money
  7. My pedalboard in its current shape! Looks a little spacious and messy, I've been upgrading and removing pedals a lot recently, so haven't neatened it up in a while. It's not normally this messy, honest. Signal chain is: Bass -> (passive DI box) -> Donner DT Deluxe -> Digitech Bass Whammy (reissue) -> TC Electronic Vortex Mini -> Boss LS-2 -> TC Electronic Flashback -> Two Notes Audio Le Bass LS-2 set to A+B mix / bypass, with channel A and B both set just below halfway. Channel A has the Chowny Fuzzster, channel B the Darkglass B3K. This way I can run the two in parallel, which I've found is my favourite way to have distortion. I usually run the Le Bass in cold fusion, channel A clean and warm, channel B a tad gritty and mid-pronounced.
  8. Boy am I glad I pulled the trigger on Le Bass, I can tell me and it are going to be very good friends for a long time. Bought it for it's cold fusion mode, and that seems to be where I favour it, but it or either channel all work amazingly with my two dirt pedals (Chowny Fuzzster and Darkglass B3K), but in different ways. With the Fuzzster into channel A I can get a fair impression of Mr Wolstenholme of Muse, into channel B I get a nice vintage-y kinda Fuzz sound, a little thin but cool sounding. The Darkglass is a little more baked in, but the more subtle changes are still appreciated. But with the Fuzzster and B3K run in parallel (Boss LS-2) into cold fusion mode... Special feelings. Filthy high gain special feelings. Well I enjoyed it! Made me hanker for a new paperweight though, maybe a tremelo-flavoured paperweight this time...
  9. Not tried many others, but I've heard it's pretty good for beginners, and definitely goes deep enough for pro stuff. And there are some brilliant videos on YouTube - check out Home Brew Audo in particular, made my start to Reaper much easier
  10. Cheers! Awesome, I tend to run active and boost the treble a little (I like a nice articulate distortion), I'll try without and see how the Le Bass sounds. As for the Focusrite, I'm going into a Windows, and I've been learning on Reaper so I'll probably stick to that.
  11. Couldn't wait to get home to post in this thread My Le Bass arrived today (along with a Focusrite 6i6 and an AKG P2 mic - finally starting the home recording stuff), and I'm absolutely itching to get in and throw some riffs into it. I'm guessing it'll be a big upgrade over the Behringer BDI21!! How does the Le Bass take active basses? Am I going to have to worry about input level (as with the aforementioned BDI)?
  12. Cheers for the input, guys! I'll go for the RB115, when I can put the money together
  13. Just had a quick Google, I can get the RB115 for under £200, which is marvellous. I've not really considered running two 15 inch speakers, do you think that would cut it for a rock, mainly distorted/fuzzy sound?
  14. Hello everyone! I started playing bass last Christmas (benefits of being a "kid" is that you sometimes get big presents ), I had been playing guitar on and off since I was 13 (I'm now 17), but eventually saw the error of my ways and converted. As of this moment, I own three basses (after playing for 6-7 months ), an Encore P-bass, a Wesley piece of shaffordable, and my baby, a Marcus Miller M3. I've got a Laney RB8 combo (recently posted a topic on getting an extension cabinet for it), and a decent-sized pedal board (5 pedals, 6 by this Friday). It was Chris Wolstenholme of Muse that got me into bass, the lines he plays absolutely blew me away, and now I've got a real weakness for a distorted bass tone. I'm self taught, so I'm always perusing for tips on technique, as well as setup/rig ideas, and most recently, pedal reviews (I'm only slightly addicted, I promise ). Hopefully my youth and misty eyes can bring something to the forums? Glad to be a member, anyway! - Kieron
  15. Hi all I've got a Laney RB8 combo amp, (I'm really happy with how it sounds, reacts well with my BBM and preamp pedal), and I'm looking to get an extension cabinet to really open it up for larger gigs. For those who don't know, the RB8 is a solid state 1x15 combo, running 300 watts. The extension cab needs an impedance of 8 ohms minimum. Anyone got any ideas for an affordable (still in school ) cabinet that would sound good? Still undecided on 112 vs 210 vs 212, any input would be great. Cheers
