It seems to me that the question is not "if" but "when". The virus is spread during the pre symptom phase so staying away from gigs is not going to be an effective solution. If you gig, work, shop, or just walk around the block you're likely to be exposed.
My "medical" advice is that healthy people should carry on. Get exposed and get it over with. If you have underlying health problems isolate yourselves 100% for the next 6 months.
I don’t understand your logic on that one. It’s not really relevant if the spread happens with symptoms or not. You are certainly going to be exposing yourself more spending 4-5 hours in a confined space with 50-60 people crowding around you than you are staying in and watching Netflix.

I’m fairly certain the volume of cases in the U.K. will rise, but to put it into perspective, we currently have 35 confirmed cases in a population of 66 million.
Indeed, I’m not concerned now as the chances of getting it are practically zero. Having said that their were only 4 cases in Italy 10 days ago and now nearly 1700, with 560+ today. If it continues with that kind of exponential growth it could become a serious threat very quickly.
My question was relating to the impact on gigging if/when the numbers do become significant.

Chances are that China now has 100,000 cases of coronavirus. The population of China is 1.4 billion. For the arithmetically challenged, that's 1,400,000,000 people.
So a full month into the outbreak, one Chinese in every 14,000 has the disease. Looked at another way, out of every 14,000 Chinese there are 13,999 who don't have it.
"Yet", I grant you, "Yet". Some more will get it as time goes by, but at the moment the odds are firmly in favour of humanity surviving this.
Not all of those 100,000 will die, of course. The Chinese death rate (if we can believe anything their Government says) is a surprisingly high 5%-ish. Estimates for Europe are suggesting that we will see less than 2%, probably 1%.
All statistics change over time. That's the nature of things. But if you were to assume, just for the sake of the argument, that one in every 14,000 Brits were to develop the disease, and that 2% of those affected were to die, it doesn't take long to work out that the extra 80 deaths - each an individual tragedy for someone - would represent two weeks' road deaths.
You can't sell newspapers, or garner cheap clicks, by publishing this sort of thing. Far better to fire up the panic-stricken auto-headline generator, tell everyone that (1) we're all going to die, (2) it's all the fault of those slitty-eyed b@st@rds in Chinky-land, and (3) that this may affect property prices in the Home Counties.
Don’t forget the Chinese took very drastic action to contain this. Wuhan was completely locked down and people were confined to their houses. Pretty sure nobody was going to gigs in Wuhan. There isn’t the political will do do that in this country yet.
Also we only have around 700 spare ICU beds in the UK and if 10-20% need ventilating once we get to 4-5K cases we could be in a lot of trouble and the death rate would climb,. Based on how quickly Italy’s numbers have increased we might only be 3-4 weeks away from being in that situation.

And his gigs are 4000+
I actually wouldn’t have an issue to playing to 4000 as there would be security keeping them at a safe distance! Haha

Apparently it may be only indoor gatherings of 4000+ which will be cancelled. If you go to shops and touch door handles, or are close to people who do, why have any extra concerns about a gig?
When I go to the shops I don’t get drunks spitting song requests in my face, shaking my hand or hugging me!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Have a number of gigs lined up over the coming months. I’m not too concerned at the moment as the numbers of cases in the UK is pretty low, but I think it is quite likely to accelerate quickly in the coming weeks as it has in Italy and Korea.
Once we get to thousands of cases in the UK I think I’ll be wanting to consider whether I still want a load of drunken possibly infected punters approaching me at gigs.
My band mates don’t seem to share my concerns at the moment.
Anyone else having these thoughts? Also if people start avoiding pubs anyway then I wonder if they will still be wanting to pay bands to play to half empty pubs.

I got fed up of tripping over the 4way extension block and helix PSU, so bought a DC extension cable. Seems to work well. Will be trying it in practice tonight.

This young lady is super talented, using a budget bass too.
EDIT - I see someone already posted another vid from her

You said open E dies but a fretted F rings for ages. Might be worth tuning the E string up a semitone to F and see what happens.
That would tell you if it was a resonance issue or if it was something else

I actually bought the large fender one after it was recommended by a friend. It is pretty sturdy and well made, but......... I took it to practice last night and preferred the sound with the amp on the floor. It lost quite a lot of low end on the stand and the tone was quite different.
Not sure whether to send it back, though it might come into its own on a boomy stage.

I always thought this was what extension cabs were for...
That was plan b. If anyone is selling a 212mbp powered extension cab I’m all ears!

The Teemah is also what I settled on for my overdrive sounds. Don’t know how similar it sounds to what it’s based on, but it’s a great sound in it’s own right!
Just started playing with the Teemah and I like it!
Curious what the "clipping" setting is for /does i.e. Up, Center, Down

Does anyone have any recommendations.
I've got a GK MB212 (2x12).
I did buy a cheapish one last year, but it was so flimsy and unstable I sent it back.
Looking to raise it up 12-18 inches with a slight tilt.

Without doubt the most useful feature for me on my HX effects is the pitch shift, I’ve made separate pedal boards in standard E, Eb, D and C to cover the songs we do. It has saved me getting a 5 string and/or bringing multiple basses.
It does a pretty good job and nobody in the band has complained about the sound, however on longer more sustained notes there is a slight warble sometimes - not really noticeable, but it does bug me a bit and there is a particular slower song where it is more obvious. There is only a low D a couple of times so I had the idea to set the pitch shift to momentary action rather than the default latch mode so I just press the footswitch when I need low D and most of the time I’m playing with it off. Just tried it and it worked well, so thought I’d share the tip!

Could be "digital zipper noise" although that should really be a thing of the past (its not the 1990s any more).
How many blocks does this patch use? Maybe you are nearing the limit of the FX processing power?
It's a single effect, not a patch. After googling zipper noise, I think that could be it

haha!
I'm not sure if I have effects trails on, isn't that something to do with snapshots?

Wondered if anyone else has seen this....
Using the kinky boost patch on the HXFX with my M Audio EX-P pedal adjusting the gain, I get distortion/crackling when I use the pedal to change the gain while a note is playing (it doesn't make the noise if the bass is silent). I wondered if it was an issue with the pedal, however I can get the same effect twiddling the boost knob, though as you can't move it quite as quickly as you can with the pedal it isn't quite as bad.

Haha, I’m slowly going off the idea!

Ah ok thanks! She is a beginner having never played the drums, but is pretty musical playing a few instruments already.

My daughter wants drums for Christmas!
I don’t know much about them, but I’m assuming an e-drum kit might be a bit better from a noise level point of view. Anyone have any recommendations? I guess I’d be hoping to spend around £200, but could go a bit higher if needed.

Mine came with 2.3 And I went straight to 2.82 in one go.
i couldn’t get Hx edit to connect on my work laptop, but I think it is all the security settings, so had to use another computer in the end.

I had this about a year ago, it lasted about 6 months. Fingers stiff and painful first thing in the morning, I was convinced it was arthritis.
https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/334923-morning-finger-stiffness/
Thankfully it seems to have gone away. I joined a new band a few months ago and have been practicing loads and still no problems. At the time of the issues I think I was trying to learn some fast stuff and was playing with far too much tension in my fingers, I’ve since forced myself to relax when playing faster stuff.
Good luck!

I blame @41Hz for getting me interested in the FX. Glad I found out about this though. Having owned (and still do) a few Zoom boxes i find them a bit too cramped to use on stage, and not ever intuitive to program. Even the Stomp was getting a bit complicated (and my needs are very basic). For me a multi effects is something that does it all, i don’t want any other boxes on the floor. It's a great box to use at home, but for live use the FX is the way to go.
Good luck with it, might be worth posting in the main thread if you need help etc.
Sorry!

About to order some more Daddario EXL165, but curious about the NYXL's.
How do they differ apart from being £6 more?
