1. Ok, we're definitely swinging towards the " well that was a really stupid idea" end of things :-))
2. Hello dear Basschatters. I'm considering getting a flightcase to house my supertwin cab and rackmounted amp and possibly a rack tuner all in one. For two reasons really. 1- the obvious one, it's all in one place ready to go. But possibly a bit heavy and cumbersome. But with wheels on, fairly simple to manoeuvre. 2- I'm a joiner, with a very dusty workshop. If it's all cased up it will remain clean and dust free. What do you guys think? Obviously my lightweight rig suddenly changes tack. But do the pros outweigh the cons? I'm interested to hear your thoughts and experiences. Thanks
3.
The SWR sound is much nicer for bass at low volumes - it compensate for the weirdness of the human ear with quiet sounds, which otherwise makes bass guitar sound rather midrangey. At high SPL it has a habit of getting lost in the mix so you need a lot of output (my old solution with an SWR Grand Prix and cabs which were rather subdued in the mids was almost 2kW of amp power - and that was in reasonably restrained bands (100W 2x12" guitar amps, not full stacks).
Well, you know your stuff. I do love my supertwin. It's like picking a favourite child hahaha hahaha hahaha
4.
If there were an app, what would it be called? Basschapp? Bappchat? Bappchapp?
BAPPCHAT!!! That's awesome.
5.
1st world problems.... See how the new rig fares in a band situation and if it's good there too then you can alternate?
I know. First world problems indeed. The markbass amp does seem to be naturally a bit warmer, smoother and have more bottom. But that is at very low volume whilst at home
6. I have a great rig. A barefaced supertwin and a markbass lm3 800. It's great. The other week I got an SWR GOLIATH iii junior 210 from a friend of mine. Now, the barefaced is sonically perfect but this little cab just has something about it. And to make matters worse, I picked up an SWR SM500 last night from a nice chap on here. It's equally awesome. I now have the dilemma that I thought I had a great rig. But now I have another. Can't use both........
7. You want a Ludwig questlove. Look em up. Awesome little kit.
8. I think I might still try a 210 and maybe a Jeff Berlin. I'm also interested in trying an SWR super redhead.
9. I think Harvey Mason would have done a great job in Toto after Jeff Porcaro passed away.
10. You won't go wrong with an Ibanez SR, they are very good for the money.
11. Yeah, it seems to add a bit of bite.
12. This is not so much a discussion, but more me realising that I like the sound. Still being a relative beginner, I listen to music thinking that a certain tone is really good, it must be a distorted or an overdriven sound, but no. I've just realised that it's a bass played with a plectrum. I'm gonna have to nail a bit of that....... it must give great versatility in tonal options. Another thing to learn and practice.............
13. I'm fortunate enough to know that my bass was made locally by hand, and I was in touch with the luthier constantly. But, I also have a mim jazz bass which is wonderful.
14. I'm sure that somebody told me that the American fenders are now actually made in Mexico in a factory very close to the mim one???
15. From a different perspective. An American bike company called Santa Cruz, used to have a lot of returns on badly made parts and welds on frames etc. But when they moved manufacturing to the far east the build quality went up through the roof, and the problems that they suffered before were extinguished. Profits went up and customers were happier. They had a far superior product. Is it not gonna be the same in the music world? I'm just thinking out loud.
16. I already have a little mark 800 and a barefaced supertwin. But I like the simplicity of a combo. I love the sound.
17. Hello, I'm just looking at these and I was wondering if anyone has one and what they think of them up against other 2x10 combos and other Markbass gear. Thanks
