    It is very interesting how things blend depending on guitars, song, mix etc.
    I don't have a Jazz and have never played one, but sonically I definitely see the merit of them and occupying the correct sonic space.
    I am a big G&L nut, with 2 ASATs one solid and one semi hollow and the L1500.

    It's fairly simple, if my guitarist has the Les Paul out I have to thin my sound with the bridge Pup and very clean to sound right.
    With his Strat I can go deep and full and distorted with the ASATs with both or neck Pup.
    With his Musicman Albert Lee the L1500 has that perfect punch.

    Have you recorded live play not necessarily through a board with each bass and them, then sat back and listened, or have you bass line on loop they play and you sit out front?

    It's true there is nothing wrong with Hartke kit.
    I have an LH1000 which is a great solid amp. I was running it through HyDrive 410s and did like the sound very much, however we have just subtly altered our sound and based on advice from Alex and a friend I have gone for a super twin, and I have to say I am really happy and it works for me very well.
    This is not to say one is better than the other, it's just to reinforce the fact that you should trust your ears and then weigh up cash etc. For your purchase

    Second that on buying second hand gear on here, even on Talkbass I have got stuff sent over from across the pond and took a gamble.
    I personally have good experiences via eBay and gumtree. A guy I have bought from on eBay has become a friend and we stay in touch.
    I have found it interesting selling on places like these as you can meet some really interesting folk.

    Hartke cabs were listed above, my input on them is they are a good quality, I had a 410 HyDrive which was solid, heavy-ish and well made with a good sound. The sound you get will be crisper as they are part paper and part aluminium cones.

    It can be a minefield as essentially there is no right or wrong answer to this, it's what fits in with your ears and budget.
    It is great fun though!

    You can get it close to £1K statside just about incliuding import second hand, then there is whether or not you need step down transformer...

    i have got close but different using just 1 channel. I have a Darkglass B7K with most of the lows taken out, and then i put them back in with the Mantic Beef Bag and Hartke VXL DI box. Just also acquired the Two Notes Le Bass for a mini pick up and go board, but i may be anle to link it all together. I have a Darkglass VMT to throw into the mix also.
    My amp currently is a Hartke LH1000 which is powerful and OK, lots of bang for the buck and nicely amplifies the sound created by the pedals.
    I just changed to a Barefaced Super Twin which suits me better than the HyDrives i had.

    Not sure i actually NEED to change, but Need, Want, Must and Have are interchangeable 4 letter words......!

    I posted about the Wounded Paw 701 to see if that was an affordable option, that or maybe a Reidmar i've been liking the look of.

    Cheers bro, it looks tasty and he gets some serious sounds out of it as well.

    Second hand market on this is pretty slow/fairly non existent unless it's an import, and that's a lot of wedge!
    I know only I can answer as its personal preference, but still wonder whether this would cure all my 'dirt' needs and could offload a bunch of pedals to finance it, or whether it's just too much amp unless you are realistically playing big areas and often.

    I did email Tech 21 and suggest they do a lower power half price version like a 5-700w and they said good idea, but not yet...

    Be great if someone out there actually has one to get some more personal info, or I may have to try to contact Jon on you tube.

    I'm not that great but also not that fussy about my basses set up. I have gotten them all second hand and not changed the set up at all on them.
    Yes they are all different, and 3 different necks as well, but it seems to work for me.
    I am not a technical fast player and just like to try to keep the baseline and the song together.
    All G&Ls 1 ASAT solid body thick #7 old fashioned P bass type neck
    1ASAT semi hollow #8 thin neck
    1L1500 #12 neck

    Only similarity is a rosewood fret board and GHS Boomer strings.

    Each I love and I pick up the bass I think suits the song.

    So the other thing you can do is separate you practic rig from your gig rig.
    I have a head and cab that mainly stays at home unless it's for playing out obviously, and for when the wife goes out to make noise!
    For practice we are in our drummers garage and practice at low volume as it's at night, kids sleeping etc. And for that I have a Hartke HD25 combo. It does the job to arrange songs and then showtime for the bigger stuff.

    It's always a consideration
