Hi I have had a replacement backplate and PCB on backorder from the UK supplier for over three months for an Ampeg SVT 8x10. Can anyone offer any advice as to where I may get these quicker? Cheers McD

Our lead guitarist often wonders how I practise without taking my bass home. It may sound weird, but I can practise (to an extent) in my head. That's what I tell him, anyway.

My PA which is JBL SRX is made up of neodynium magnets. They turn subsinto a 1-man lift rather a 2-man lift or a back breaker. Can't think of any differences in sound between this and any previous speakers I've used in terms of sound.

I remember we got £2000 for a five-piece function at the Mollington Banastre in 1995. I was really ill leading up to it with a virus. Had to be sick several times in a bucket in the dressing room but you can't turn down £400 a man.

How do you find the 9098? Have access to 9098EQ but only used it on vocals. You rate it on bass? Also have you ever used any of the Buzz Audio pres?

I've been recording through an Avalon U5 the past few months but I'm a great fan of a Neumann U47 Fet through a Neve 1073 DPA. My other fave is straight through my Drawmer 1960. Like yourself, I have access to everything from 57s to 67s and 47Vs but I always find you go back to what you know. Likewise I was recording a cranked up Marshall with an SG a few months ago - tried Royers and Neumanns but went back to a 57!

Couldn't agree more with Jensenmann. In particular, I have always had good results with my Sen MD421. If you do ever get a chance to try one, the original D12 kicks the ass of a D112 - it's a real shame they're no longer in production. Jensenmann - what mics and pres do you normally record with out of interest?

1st rig taken out fully last Tuesday. New company put rig in last week and took it out again Thursday night. Mate's band played there a few weeks ago then the venue didn't pay them although they brought people in and were promised £100.
