Brilliant thanks for all your replies guys, I think I will try one out before committing to buying one. But it does sound like I won't be able to get my usual bright tone so it may not be for me.

Any good? I fancy a new toy but don't wanna break the bank and always liked the look of SG basses. It won't be my main bass, far from it but I'm thinking it will add some variety to my collection which is dominated by Precision basses. Seen them going for around £150, is it worth it or will I be disappointed? Cheers

I was asking the same questions and then I managed to get a practically brand new MIM P (2014 version I believe) for £350, much less than I could see the Ramones bass for sale anywhere. I swapped the original white scratchplate for a black one and it looks exactly like the Ramones one. Plays like a dream and sounds great, I still haven't played the Dee Dee bass but don't see how it could be any better. Slightly different logo on headstock and Ramones neck plate seem to be the only differences. I'll never knock Mexican basses, I have a Mark Hoppus Signature and its the best bass I've ever played. And I've owned A LOT of basses. Never had a USA P though....

Yeah I've been eyeing that up for weeks, beautiful bass at an amazing price but unfortunately it's quite out of my budget at the moment. Seen a Dee Dee sig for £450 and MIM P for £200. May just stick with the Matt Freeman sig though.

I've got one mate, and I love it! My one has a Fender custom vintage 59 pickup from the Mike Dirnt signature (I play in a Green Day tribute band) I wanted to upgrade to Fender as that's what Dirnt plays but don't wanna break the bank. Don't want to part with the MF though! In fact I was thinking about trading my white one for a black one. You're so right tho, awesome bass

Hi guys I've been reading up on the Dee Dee Ramone Sigature Precision and it seems as though it's not much different to a Mexican Standard Precision. Are you really paying £100's extra for the signature and fancy neck plate or is there more to it than that? If anyone's owned both and can do a straight comparison that would be great. Are other precisions in that price range that are much better? USA P a bit too expensive for me at the moment. Cheers Paul

Yeah that's what I thought, maybe it's necessary hassle! I am on the look out for a second hand one in good condition, has to be white though, would love a new one though, haven't bought a new bass for years, always pre owned. Is £1170 over priced for what it is? Obviously I'd like to play it first before parting with the cash.
