Love this bass! Also love this tiny Warwick BC10 amp! I only wish I actually could play bass but I am loving this tone!

Why would you want new strings on a bass?

Thanks! Let me write down some more info about my exemplar; Out if the box it felt rather, not so heavy. I thought around my Daphne Blue Tele which is 3.9kg but after putting the MV-4PJ on the scale it revealed a 4.4kg weight, to my surprise. It certainly doesn’t feel that heavy. Maybe it’s well balanced between the neck and body? I would say it’s well balanced and not body heavy nor neck heavy. This Laurel fretboard is to me more beautiful than some rosewood I’ve had or seen. It’s very nice a dark with lively grain. The frets were likely the best I’ve seen on Harley Benton guitars. I’ve had around 20 since 2014 and none were this good. They are polished, levels, crowned, no sharp edges … just lovely! The neck feels great under my hand. I like it a bit chunky so D shape suits me better than modern C. One thing I’ve experienced with HB Roasted necks is the neck screws keep turning on and on as the roasted wood got chewed up by the screw easily. If this happens I will glue one toothpick to strengthen the screw hole in the neck heel. Body finish is great. It does not look like my Vintera Strat SFG. It has more bright Green appearance. But it’s not an issue. Works great with the awesome looking , proper tort ply. I say proper, because it’s a tick layer of tort on top of the white layer. There is a 3D aspect to it. Knobs look and feel fine. Pots actually work all the way which is a big plus. Can’t say much about the bass tone as I’m not a bass player. P and P in combination with J sound fine. As long there is more P than J it’s fine. J on its own sounds rather weedy. Doesn’t bother me. Tone pot is very usable. Bridge seems fine. I love brass barrel saddles. I only ever had a HB JB-75 and HB Shorty. This is my 3rd bass. I know more about good guitar tone. But I do know what is or isn’t built well. This bass is jaw dropping!

Thanks all! I do have a TC Zeus (Klon) and it did sound nice but a bit noisy. Need to test it again though as back then I did have amps treble at full (more white noise) I did try my Tele into my Warwick practice amp but it didn’t sound as nice as into my wet-dry set up (Egnater into Jensen Blackbird 12” and Vox AC15 Greenback).

Wonder if you use or know about guitar overdrive pedals that work well for the bass too. I happen to have Wampler Euphoria and Pantheon. I find the Euphoria (based on Dumble sound) sounds very good with my bass. It acts a bit like a compressor too. Really rounds up all strings so the D doesn’t pop too much when played harder. And the drive is so beautifully subtle which I like. Sure it can drive more but slight is what I prefer. Euphoria is known to have loads of bottom end. I set its Bass knob to zero! Any other OD guitar pedals good for bass?

Let me degrade this thread with my Harley Benton Shorty P bass All stock! Rumbles nicely in my home studio. But I’m no bass player so can’t tell if it’s really good or just average.

Can some of you fine fellows have a quick peek under the hood? I’m sure it’s easy to just lift the control plate a bit and even peek into the pickup routes. I’m totally happy if it’s that black shielding paint. Cheers!

Hi folks! I wonder if Sire Marcus Miller basses are shielded from the factory? Did any of you with these basses check under the hood? I get lots of noise from my Harley Benton non shielded bass. Noise goes away when I touch the metal parts. I would love to buy a bass that has this issue sorted. Looking at the Marcus Miller M2 and V3 , not sure yet which of these two to get. Likely the bass with least noise. Thanks!

Very surprised by this tiny combo I am! The more I crank it the better it sounds! So not my experience with SS amps. Very rich low end when fully cranked amp volume. And the tone is pleasant to the ears which is great. I tried my Behringer BDI-21 pedal for extra drive but was not pleased with it. Then tried the TC Zeus (Klon) with Fat switch engaged and the smile was on me face Noice!

It sure has lots of bass! I naively turned up the bass knob just to cut it big time I actually cranked the Treble knob full on, almost cut off all the mids and bass is at 11 o’clock.

Ah your amp is an Ampeg from another universe entirely Has nothing to do with those Ampeg Rocket combos! Im my case it just has to sound really good on low volume. It will be on the table facing me. Rich deep tone with nice note separation is my desire. A bit of limiting is a plus. Looking forward to receiving this Warwick amp testing it. Im no bass player but will give my opinion once I plug into it.

I love big necks. On guitar I prefer deep soft V. On the bass dunno. Have to try a few to know for sure. I can order as many as I want with Thomann and return them all within 30 days. No issues there. Money is the issue right now. Can only afford one bass. Gotta choose the best for me now then return if it fails to impress. Will ponder but seems Marcus Miller M2 might be my cup of tea.

I usually let him turn the guitar knobs and switch selector while I play. Then I hold a chord and he strums it with a huge smile on his face but after 10 minutes he points towards the guitar wall hanger as a sign for me to quit playing Yes I too get these short slots to noodle around which act as a stress relief. Parenting is hard!
