Would recommend them to anyone, the range of sounds available with the independent volume knobs for the pups is amazing. Great punchy b string and it's pretty to look at. Chuffed really. I'd give one a shot if I were you. The thing is I changed from a stingray and I can still get a zingy stingray sound (almost anyway.) really is a lot of bass for the cost. My only negative really is the gloss finish on the neck makes it a bit grippy with sweaty hands: never played with a gloss finish before and might consider sanding the gloss away if i keep getting caught up.

Was too concerned with the way they kept having hissy fits and walking off stage.really Embarrassing the bassist threw his bass at the crowd because he got upset about something. They came on half hour late. Then went off for another twenty minutes. I heard they were upset because the majority of people were at prodigy on the second stage. I wish I'd gone prodigy.

Just bought a Spector legend 5 which has high regard at your price range. Can't comment on its sound and play-ability as it hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you know at the end of the week. They are on bass direct at the minute for £699 which is the lowest I've seen new.

As a young boy in high school watching a lot of new metal bassists throwing big 5-6 string bass guitars around. I instantly felt the need to dismiss anything less than a five string(oh the perils of youth) as a sub par instrument that was capable of less. So what I did was carry around a five string.. Rave about five strings... Slag off four strings... (I was young and bear with me this thread has a point). Yet all along my B string intimidated the life out of me. I had no idea how to integrate it and it became something I used as a thumb rest for my early playing experiences. I played a five string bass but only played four strings. Can anyone else relate to this experience? Might be specific to me. I haven't played my old five (de armond pilot v) in many years i can play fives confidently now but I'll always remember standing on stage wondering if anyone could tell I was only playing four of my five strings.
