No, but it looks like one.

This is what Walshy wrote about it.

    • Up for grabs this super P bass build by BassDoc. Built with quality parts including
Fender licenced WD neck and body
Neck is mint and body has some dinks and knocks.
      Gotoh reverse tuners
      Roadwork bridge with spiral saddles
      Fender reissue gold aluminium Scratchplate
      Fender 60’s reissue pick up
      Fender reissue knobs
      CTS pots and switchcraft jack
      D’addario Chrome Flats

So why not just buy a fender mim classic 50’s series or fender road worn mim 50’s p bass?

    Why re invent the wheel?

Either could be had for £700 or less?

  2. Now that I am retired I can see that there must be quite a lot of fellow musicians in the same situation

so I intend to form or join a band made up of these retired souls with a view to rehearsing in the day, when others cannot preferably at someone’s house so no studio fees

doesnt sound very radical but I don’t think many people do this

I love the look of these, very cool basses. The body I believe is smaller than a standard P bass, probably contributes to it being sub 4kg's. 😎

People take time to wake up to things

i look in amazement as mustangs sell quickly yet these basses languish unsold despite being a fraction of the price of mustangs and yet having the obvious advantage over mustangs of being available with a long 34” neck

    to recap

bullets have same pups as mustangs are light weight and can be had in long 34” scale form

    what’s not to like?

As a general rule, I'm not in the slightest bit interested in owning a bass that's endorsed in any way, or is a signature model...my brain just doesn't work like that.

However, I just loved the look of the Fender Roscoe Beck 5 String bass when I first saw one around 2006 - which was a good few years after they were introduced.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that, at the time, I had no idea who Roscoe Beck was! So in a way, the bass led me to the musician, not the other way around...

As it happened, I found the research about him really interesting and learning about the design philosophy he had for the bass made it even more intriguing.

So, when I finally got one in 2007, I absolutely loved it and since then, I've had 5 of them.. and happily, I still love the look, playability, sound and ergonomics of them.

The only reason I've had so many of them over the years is because the dreaded Basschat fuelled GAS demons got the better of me and I stupidly sold them, only to then regret being such an idiot! 😁

Funny thing is, I don't particularly like the look of the 4 string model so have never wanted to own one??

Having said all of that, there are lots of signature model basses out there that I like the look of - the Nate Mendel being one for example - but none so far (other than the RBV) that have  motivated enough to go out and get one.

I’ve had both and the 4 is a completely different animal to the 5

I love the 5 but did not like the 4

Well, I have 6 and sometimes I think they are too many...but I never stop thinking of a new model I want :P

Squier Affinity P-Bass (my first bass)

    Fender MIJ Classic 60

    Fender MP Dimension Bass

    Epiphone Jack Casady

    Yamaha BB735a

    Yamaha BB734a

    Fender MIJ Classic 60?

    Is there such a thing?

I thought all classic series basses were MIM?

Its not my rig, its in Brixton Hill rehearsal studios (great place by the way, no beat-up Ashdown MAG combos ....). However, the rig sounds the absolute dogs danglies if you like a thick meaty, old school bass-heavy sound. Which I do. If you want modern hi-mid, articulacy its pants!

    Oohh

I can hear it in my head now

The 1987 catalogue says Surf Green, and they are a lot cheaper then yours 🤣

This is a killer period for reissues judging by the ones I’ve played and people I know that like them. I wish I still had my 1987 reissue 57 Strat or that I’d bought a Surf Green one from the same year that came up years back. Shame I’m not in the market for a new bass.

    Yes great sounding basses.

The main ways they differ from the earlier fullerton ones is they tend to have more curvy contours, the contoured body transfer is below the G tuner and they tend to be a bit lighter.
