I used to have a brilliant USA Fender Bullet Deluxe bass (you know, with the Mustang pickups and Tele bass neck) it was my absolute favourite to play but I had to sell it
When I got my Fender Bullet Deluxe it was a real bargain, nobody seemed to want them or know much about them but that's changed now. I'll certainly never find one in my 'Tesco Value' budget! Unless I find a stripped or modded one but the chances of that happening are pretty slim I'd guess. I know there's the MIJ Squier versions but I never see them anywhere, they seem to be rarer than the USA Fender models.
I really appreciate any help or advice you can give me on this! 🙏
Cheers - Lee

The thing with these vintage Fenders is that the ones that are in better condition means they might not have been played much so MIGHT be a dog. Lovely bass though.
Exactly

Good to hear. I was looking at picking up a JB-2 which obviously doesn't have a pickguard on it.
Some flats installed would make it a thump machine.

So, inspired by a conversation I had recently, for those of you with experience of all three, which of the following do you consider the most aggressive-sounding bass (all other things being equal, i.e. player, amp etc):
Warwick Thumb
Musicman Stingray
Wal
G&L L1500/1505

This is the Issue I had with a Svt 2 Pro, SVT Classic and a Skunkworks Classic Head - All having new tubes and serviced by different people. Same issue.
I had a Svt 5 Pro after which liked to burn out pcb boards and a good friend of mine had the same issue with his Svt 4 Pro.
So safe to say that's put me off really.Me too
plus I found the ampeg tone rather harsh

I kinda love my SVT VR 😁 It’s epically loud, sounds great and EQ is fine for what I need it for. I am looking forward to my CTM300 still though
The svt2 pro was my only ampeg experience
it was a nightmare
I bought it as a bridge for gigging whilst my trace Elliot v6 was repaired
it was forever blowing power valves
id be on a gig and I’d see the biasing lights change from green thru orange to red then bang and I’d have to use an old trace tranny amp
glad your experience is better than mine
-
“I've discounted Ampeg as I've owned/borrow a couple over the years which I found them to be unreliable and the eq relatively useless too.”
Yes I had an SVT pro 2 and it was a heap of crap

I’ve always liked Dire Straits
I remember when I first herd sultans of swing - it was like a breath of fresh air and a return to simpler things - a Fender strat straight into a fender valve amp
It came after years of prog rock, stadium rock and punk
I cannot understate the elation of hearing Mark’s pure musicality in this way and it’s no surprise that Hank was one of his heroes
Here’s a personal favourite of mine

Just sold a G&L Tribute SB2 to Paul
Highly recommended

Lack of info or lack of knowledge. They may well be good guys, but this is/was potentially a high value instrument so it does seem to me to be a bit negligent to not have done some homework.
These are good guys from whom I have bought
I think it’s just lack of information rather than bad intent
Anyway still having their contact details I messaged them this
“
Hi
You have a 66 p bass for sale
Some of the guys on basschat are discussing it here
https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/428655-1966-precision/
As the bass is not original it might be an idea to include some more photos including front body with pick guard off showing control cavity, pups and any extra routing for that third knob and photos of all the pots and wiring and more photos of neck which looks like it’s got a new truss rod and fingerboard
Best wishes”

Under 9lbs is a very good weight
Enjoy
FWIW I’d keep it original with black guard and tug bar on E side
