  1. Weirdest thing.

Back end of the 70's I'm in this nightclub and the DJ sticks Rat Trap on. You'd think it would have cleared the floor, not a bit of it. Everyone keeps dancing.

Every time they hit the dead stops everyone freezes in time, then starts dancing again. Come the fast bit before the fade they all wig out out, jumping up and down and then the DJ plays Disco Inferno and everyone carries on dancing normally.

    Weird.

as never heard of this being the case

Sure, they've had loads of guest guitarists who walk onstage, give it some stuff and then trot off again but I've never heard of back-up guitarists.

Is it my imagination or did one of the Womacks back the Stones on a studio release? And was it guitar or keys or something?

Who were these ‘invisibles ‘ of which you speak? 🤔

Among a number of (usually uncredited) guitarists who have backed the Stones in the studio are Jimmy Page, Ry Cooder, Dave Mason, Eric Clapton, Wayne Perkins and Harvey Mandel (the latter two while auditioning to replace Mick Taylor).

Edit: Clapton's efforts were not officially released but I think one of them appeared on a bootleg of out-takes. Also, Rory Gallagher was invited to join the audition sessions on which Perkins and Mandel played but walked out after Keith left him waiting around in a hotel for a day or two. Probably just as well, really.

Steve Jordan has a bit previous with Keith Richards, my first thought was he be a perfect fit.  I doubt there was too much of a conversation/debate.

     Very much this ↑

Jordan and Richards go back a long way. When Richards embarked on his first solo album Talk Is Cheap in 1987 he hired Steve Jordan as drummer, co-producer and co-songwriter. Anyone who might listen to that album will come away thinking that Jordan's approach to the project was basically a Charlie Watts feel with added seasoning.

    So, no-brainer really.

Thanks, I had 2.1 turned on. Changed it back and I can now see everything.

Shame though because I really like the colours and the light feel of the 2.1 theme.

    Agreed. Easier to read, IMO.

This might be fixed now, as I posted something not on the last page earlier and it refreshed to my post at the end of the thread. 🤞

I am at my wits' end. Someone pass the smelling salts.

It seems that when quoting a post from a page that is not the last and, adding one’s own literary flourishes, pressing save doesn’t appear to work, often meaning the save button is pressed again and maybe even once more. The problem seems to be that after the initial save, you are not taken immediately to last post position where your post would have appeared pre update. Instead, posters are left in limbo wondering why their post hasn’t saved, when of course it has, just on the last page, possibly a number of times.

Good spot. That's already happened to me.

Repeated jabs at the save button when quoting someone else = multiple posts = necessity to edit and delete content = profound embarrassment = withdrawal from public life.

How odd..! In this browser (Chrome, Windows 10...), 'Enter' provokes, now, a single line feed, whereby before, it was double. I preferred it to be double, using 'Shift + Enter' whenever I wanted a single line feed. Is it now double for you, @skankdelvar dear friend..? Can we swap, maybe..? :/

I'm in the same posish as you, Douglas, whereby 'enter' provokes a single line feed. Like you i would prefer it to be double.

We are, as you might but probably wouldn't say, dans le meme bateau. It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice and might also clear up some of now un-paragraphed historic posts.

Either way, I'm grateful to @ped and his little helpers for the time and effort they expend on keeping this forum as jolly and as useful as a forum could be.

I think they're like badges for Scouts, given randomly merely for attendance and/or lighting fires with woggles. It will probably evolve, with BC members squabbling over who has the most [insert puerile reason for squabbling over things here...], until The Admins get tired of all the complaints and return everyone to simple, modest 'BC Member'. That's enough, isn't it..? No..? Oh dear... :(

    ...

    xD :P

I must confess to a certain uneasiness about status rankings, badges (insert Blazing Saddles ref here) and other such community pats on the head.

Didn't we have a protracted debate one time about the wisdom of introducing reactions (Like, sad etc). Did we not murmur about division and ascendancy? I rather think we did.

Oh and this tiresome paragraph break double return thing has to go. Please may we return to the single 'enter' hit for a paragraph break? Pretty please with a big pink cherry on top?

It’s how you go about things, for sure. For instance: “play it like this” vs “have you thought of playing it like this?”

In a rehearsal session it's important to give one's band members a choice when it comes to interpretation.

"Play it the way I said or I'll kill you where you stand. Your choice'.

I don't believe anything can be worse than this...

It is reassuring to discover that I am not the only person in the world to cordially dislike the song 'Dignity'.

And I'll sail her up the west coast
    Through villages and towns
    I'll flip the dinghy over
    And then I'll f___ing drown
