Like everyone has said the 2012-16 Am.Std are phenomenal and the Custom Shop pickups, are the finishing touch to these basses defiantly Fender's best to date. I bought mine new back in Jan '15 & love the light weight & great feeling neck, hope you enjoy owning yours as much as I am with mine B) . The only things I've added are Fender flatwounds & Fender strap locks :D .

White, black pickguard, maple board, in my opinion the best looking precision combination ever.

But then I'm a huge Ramones fan.

Done that, my bass neck was basically a gate to the gents, I had to lift it every time someone wanted to enter or leave it.

You should have charged them for access, like the bogs at some train stations.

  3. I had no idea there were restrictions on sending magnetic materials.

I looked it up when I got home and the rule is

'Magnetised material: Magnetised material with a magnetic field strength of 0.418A/m or more at a distance of 4.6m from the outside of the package is prohibited'

I' m guessing the pickups are no where near strong enough to be banned, but I don't where to start with measuring magnetism or what equipment you'd need to do it.

  4. Sent.

The local post office asked me what was in the package 'for security reasons' and had a bit of a panic when I told them it was a couple of strongish magnets, but in the end they slapped a 'danger! magnets!' sticker or somesuch on the parcel and off it went.

@Cato you will like this then.

I am black and was in a small town folk festival milling around, when I came across a group of fully blacked up Morris Dancers.
Their abject shock at seeing a 'real' black face was priceless, they did a double take, crossed the road and scuttled away quite sheepishly.

I was upset as in that area of little Britain I thought I would be the only 'coloured' in the village...... ;-)

    Still makes me laugh now

    😂😂😂

  6. Off topic, there's a Morris side in the town in Henley in Arden.

For reasons best known to themselves they go full blackface in tophats and multicoloured jackets and waistcoats and prowl round the town every boxing day.

Scared the Bejeezus out of me the first time I bumped into them, I thought I'd walked into an episode of 'The League of Gentlemen'.

Edit:these are the bastards, in full boxing day get up.

So, in conclusion if you see a Morris troupe coming towards you, run.

How easy is it for your local bands to get a slot at your Glastonbury Festicak?

    I don't think there's many

There's a fair few unsigned acts or acts that have a deal but have not released anything yet, but I imagine thay they all have professional representation.

They did used to have the Glastonbury town brass band play the pyramid stage on the sunday morning.

Hell of a way to wake up after a heavy night of revelling, a million trombones blasting their way through 'Ruby Tuesday' at festival volumes.

It's a 2 week premier fest on beautiful Lake Michigan.

At 64 I will have to YouTube most of the acts listed. I only recognize a small fraction of the artists.

I imagine The Chainsmokers will be right up your street...

Not heard of half of the acts on the bill
    [/quote]

To be fair I doubt most Americans would have heard of half the average Glastonbury line up. Probably not most British people either for that matter..

Definitely talented and I guess he's an example of the direction bass playing is going.

Me, I'm an older guy. I'm taking a pass on Thundercat and staying with my friends like Rocco Prestia and Chuck Rainey.

I think he's pretty unique, he's more a jazz guitarist who plays a bass than your standard bass player.

I really enjoy his stuff, but I couldn't emulate it if I tried. I'm guessing not many of us could.
