    Yup, I'm with grandad. I'm not saying Thundercat isn't talented ,and I do believe he is more aligned with the new direction of bass. I'm saying , I don't get it, I don't even get what the appeal is.

    This guy in the clip below is more what I understand. It's old school and I hope it's not dead yet;

    Superb player, terrible tutorial.

  2. I love Hi Beams but in January I purchased a bass that came with Fender Nickle rounds fitted as stock.

    I've actually been very impressed with them, very bright and zingy and they're still going strong after 6 months, which considering I've been working on my slap technique for most of that time is pretty good going.

    I will want to put Hi Beams on the bass at some point, if only to see how they sound with that bass, but the Fender Nickles have impressed me.

    They're also a fair bit cheaper than the DRs.

    So you watched Gallagher 'singing' too, then, eh..? :lol:

    I saw Oasis twice in the early 90s, both times at Glastonbury.

    The first time they hadn't really broken through and were playing early afternoon on the NME stage. The next time they were headlining the Pyramid.

    Both performances were pretty much exactly like what Liam did at Manchester, standing stock still, hands behind back, sneering into the microphone, and to be fair he's made quite the career out of it.

  4. I'm not really a fan of current chart music, but everyone on that bill is absolutely nailing it.

    The backing band (bands?) are awesome, but the big surprise of the nights for me was Little Mix, I had no idea they could harmonise like that live.

    First if all there's no "the invisible bear" There are many invisible bears, there all over and I'm sure there's a few in London.

    Secondly you'd have to define the position of the hump, there are several.

    1.The Vertical Candle Light.

    2.The Reverse Incline

    3.The Old Smokey

    4.The Exxon Drill Expedition

    5.The " Let's Go Fishing"

    6.The Route 66

    7.The Lower East Side Fandango

    8. The "Saturday Night Fever"

    And last but not least;

    9.The Bus Stop (don't ask)

    If your going to post a perspective, we need more detail.

    I hope he washed his hands thoroughly after messing about with that chilli..

    There have been some rather unfortunately accidents resulting from a combination of chilli juice and casually scratching an itch.

  8. I'm not condoning it, but generally speaking it's easier for a guitarist to solo over a jam than it is to work out the chords on the fly, it's also a lot of over indulgent fun and easy to get carried away.

    Try giving him some actual songs to learn next time, you may find him taking a far more disciplined aproach.

  9. It's not exactly cast iron provenance.

    The guy may well be telling the truth about where the bass came from, but there's no bill of sale or any documentation linking the bass to Jamerson, no pictures either.

  11. For what it's worth this is my favourite Chris Cornel song.

    I used to busk this one in the subways of Plymouth.

    Ironically the album it came from was a tribute from various people on the grunge scene for a friend who died young.

  12. I'm a big fan of DR hi beams.

    There's no doubting the quality of their strings. Prices seem to vary a bit as well, if you look around sometimes you can get them a fair bit cheaper.
