Are you practising to a drum machine or a metronome?

Like all AC/DC the line is very tight with the drums , so practising to a beat will give you a better feel for what you're trying to achieve.

I've got the VM70s Jazz.

Lovely basses.

I prefer bass player - IE someone who plays bass. I find bassist makes it sound as though its some sort of professiojln past a hobby, which for me it most certainly isnt.

Love the aesthetics and sound of my jazz.

Hate the fact that it's so unstable if I leave it propped up against a wall for a couple of secs when, for example, answering the phone.

It's only in the last 3 years or so that I've come to love jazz and I still don't particularly enjoy the classic big band stuff.

Maybe Mr Gallagher just hasn't found the right type of Jazz for him.

It's an odd one as it's overpriced for a second hand Ray4 but seriously underpriced for a second hand Ray34.

As long as it works it's an absolute bargain.

350w through the extension cab will almost certainly be fine.

The reason I suggested 500w is that it should be plenty loud enough through a single cab and also give you a fair bit of headroom, hopefully you'll never need to crank it much past halfway.

You should be able to get a decent 500w amp head and a 4 × 10 cab for that much.

That's your classic guitar band gigging rig.

Headwise I'd be looking for a second hand Hartke (which will weigh as much as a small house by the way), which should leave you plenty of change for a decent second hand cab.

The name of the Mobo awards is a bit misleading in that it's a celebration of certain genres of music rather than an awards based on the ethnicity of the performers - there have been plenty of non-black Mobo winners.

It's not really any different in intent than the British Country Awards or the Radio 2 Folk Awards.

I think we're both making the same point.

Enthusiasm and raw natural talent can be more fun to play alongside than the guy who's been plodding along in the same rut for years.

I've gigged with kids who've only been playing for a year who are significantly better than others who have been playing for 20.

Experience is no guarantee of quality. IMO.

I was completely oblivious of that for years until I read it on here a while ago.

In my experience, having lived with a form of psoriasis most of my life, anything alcohol based will dry the skin out incredibly quickly.

I'd go for a quick wash with soap and water every time.

Have you thought about getting a classical guitar?

Tonally quite similar to a bass and a lot easier to play chords on than a six string bass.

Just hope she doesn't treat herself to a new pair of earrings - crafted from your dangly bits.
