Gosh that's even cheesier than the original LOL 😄
Good Fun though

I agree with Rich & Paolo85 the body looks like a Columbus from the 70s (Plywood) with a replacement neck & tuners

These do look great & if they have a Jaydee or Alembic thing going on, but lightweight very interesting
The lightweight rig You are using Bassmayhem looks good too 👍

He also turned his hand to esoteric Jazz fusion (which Wikipedia doesn't seem to know about!)... RIP Robbie

loooooove this song
If so try other stuff by Chris -- Beyond and Before, Tempus Fugit & Does it really happen are all fun to learn. Also following from what Rich said practice picking while Palm Muting for a Dubby sound. Also Listen to some Bobby Vega, Colin Hodgkinson, Barry Adamson (Magazine) & John Gustafson (early Roxy M)

You can actually use them on a regular Acoustic Guitar with regular strings. But it's different and You need to pre-excite the string (bending, vibrato, a slide or whatever) & like bigredx said for Bass it's not as essay or fluid as on an Electric guitar

Have a listen to how John Entwistle, Chris Squire, Colin Hodgkinson etc, did it. Do Your follow the chords bit but sometimes arpeggiate & Sometimes play counterpoint to the lead. Work with Your drummer to make a full sound without Guitar & Vocals. Then they add the "Fairy Dust" !!
Edit: Plus what ezbass & doctorJ said -- Full sound & used the space as dynamic

His playing and tone in particular on Joe Jackson's Look Sharp album is absolutely beautiful. I suppose the production and mixing helped. I always thought he was using a Ricky... was I right?
Usually a P-Bass with Rotosound Black Nylons

very interested to hear the difference of a bolt on to a set neck
Roadies aren't bolt-on same construction just without some of the binding. Everyone I've tried sound similar to My Series 2 even one that had the black covered pickups
Edit and no laminated neck
