1. Serviced (£80 incl new set of Elite strings) by Chris as the Bass Centre a couple of weeks ago, and the electronics are working perfectly. Schaller machine heads, Schaller bridge and Schaller Pickup. Active electronics with: Vol, Treble, Bass and what Chris said was a series/parallel switch for the pickup. It comes with a well solid wooden case that came with the bass when my mate bought it direct from Ashley Pangborn back in the 80's. Condition is pretty good for it's age, and it sounds pretty damn good to me. A P-bass on steroids is probably quite a good description. 4. Just a quick bump to say this is still available, but cash on collection (or suitable mutually convenient meeting place) as I dont currently have time to sort out packaging and posting etc. Also, it would be my preference to sell to someone who can try before they buy. It's in at the Bass Center getting a fret dress/full set up at the moment, and I'll have it back at the end of the week. So I'll include that in the price of £1100 and a virtually new Pro-tec semi-hard case. I'm in no hurry to sell, so if it doesn't shift at that price, I'll probably keep it. And when I get it back on Friday, playing like a dream, I might decide to keep it anyway Anyway, there you have it. Still open to offers on interesting trades too. Especially: NS 5 string upright, Pedulla Pentabuzz or WHY? (5strings only though) cheers G

 8.
Oh, quick question for anyone: What's the lower limit on importing outside the EU? A set of strings costing £29 (that's with postage) from America, would they charge duty/customs/whatever? Cheers, Paul.
i think the duty limit is around about the £30 mark, but they're not always consistent about it (ie sometimes you'll get away with a higher value. i my experience though, you should be ok with 1 set of strings. I bought 3 sets of DR Hi-Beams once, and did pay import duty & vat on them, declared value was around 65usd. so, while I'm on the subject can anyone tell me the difference in sound between the HiBeams and the Sunbeams? I've liked the Hi-Beams but find them a bit too bright, and a little rough to the touch. I really liked the sound and feel of Elixir Nanowebs, but they are rather expensive - luckily I didn't pay for them as they were on a bass I bought. It sounds like they are a good long-life option though as long as you don't use a pick.
 9.
The Tokyos are active/passive as usual for Sadowskies right? I imagine the preamp and the pups themselves are the same build and the truer 70's jazz sound is mainly from the body diference and the pup placement...
The pickups on mine are Sadowsky single coils. The preamp is the standard Sadowsky preamp: Volume, Balance, Treble Cut/Boost, Bass Boost/pull for passive mode.
 10.
Just wondering: Are those black spots on the neck dirt that has gone into the wood? I thought those maple necks were finished with a clear lacquer, thus making dirt removal easy (I'm thinking of my jazz).
hi BaL yes, i think it's dirt in the wood, but the finish looks ok, so I'm not sure how that happened... maybe the fingerboard has been re-laquered in the past - i have no idea. This bass has previously been owned by a couple of other forum members, so if they know, they might chime in cheers G
