That's AB though, not class d.

To be fair, they're proper loud. I havent had mine past half way in 2 loud bands at both practice and gigging. But yes, from a marketing point of view I found that a weird decision too.

Yeah, but it does seem quite low for a gigging combo.

  2. Thinking of order one of these next week. Im ok with the software being iOS as id probably use my ipad more than my Mac anyway.

Ive looked at a couple of the support documents but cant see if the unit still needs a PSU or if it runs off bus power from the ipad. Im guessing it needs a PSU as well though?

According to some websites that have it for sale its 500w peak, so 250w RMS into 4ohm. 125w RMS into 8ohm.

Might be worth someone checking as it does seem a bit mad to release a way underpowered class d head?

You are correct, that is what it says on the Boss website. I guess it gets confusing when other figures not on the spec list are quoted.

I'm still a bit confused about this head.

In principal it's an astounding head. Everything you could want (apart from a tuner - doh!), but I can't for the life of me understand a 180-250w class d head, and I can't understand less features than the combo. And more so why it's double the price?

Couldn't you just buy a combo and take the head out of that? More features, class ab power and half the price?

My thinking is always that they did their market research and designed for that rather than to please everyone. Isn't it 500watt - 250watt though?

It does seem a bit strange that it costs more than the combo though.

  5. I had that Levy's bag (got it iwth an HW-1 bass) and loved it. Never had any damaged to my basses in it, and when wearing it on just one shoulder the headstock sat that the same height as my head. This allowed melt also wear a rucksack in the proper way.

Ive never managed to get another bag like it.

Im now resigned to using a ‘better’ bag and use both straps, but have had a hard time finding one that sits low. I really wanted a Mono but those sit high, i recently got a Fender and that sits even higher. Turns out the best for me is an old Sire bag ive had for a few years.

  6. I think I’ll get this. Coming back to bass i realised i sold off my BDDI. I like that the 60B+ has a BDDI with more Mid freq’s selectable. Even more than the real thing. If i only use it for this its still over £100 cheaper. I do stil have my original 60B, and a B1 Four, which ill use until i can get the 60B+

  7. What appeals to me Is the built in FX and that it can be used as an interface. Pretty much does it all for me at home and live.
I may wait until after the ‘best amp ever’

With most other jack socket types the contacts are accessible so you can bend them a bit if they start getting baggy. You can't do that with barrel jacks, hence them being consumable items.

Can’t you unscrew them And do the same? I’ve done that in the past with the one i had.
The jacks on my Lekato seem to be just a tiny bit thinner than the Xvive. They rotate in the socket on my P bass so my options are having hanging down or rotated and stored away on the bass as in the photo above. Either is fine i guess but i would be more worried about it ganging down and then putting the bass down.

Even though I like my fiver, I can see plenty of reasons someone might keep to four. Some enjoy specific vintage or retro bass models that don't translate well to five strings, some just don't have a need for the extra range for their particular musical goals, and some have right hand techniques where adding another string underneath affects how they play on the E string. And I get it, I have no urge to look into five string double bass!

I keep going back and forth between 4 and 5. I like the narrow string spacing i get with a 5, even if im not using the B string. When i go back to a 4 it feels awkward for a  few minutes, but then its fine.

Ive played many 5 over the years, but always seem to got back to a 4. This is probably why ive never really adjusted my playing for a 5, as i know I’ll be using a 4 again. When i started playing bass again (a couple of weeks ago) i was all in to the 5 string i have, but after walking some distance with it im now back to my Fender. At the moment it’s more because it’s a nicer, much lighter bass. The difference between 10.2lbs and 8lbs is quite noticeable when walking for 30 mins.

I guess thats it for me, it’s not the number of stings, but the Bass itself. If my 5 string was lighter id maybe stick with it.

Oh, and we have one song that needs a 5 string, which is the reason i was using it. Not a good enough reason though. I’ll play higher up and save myself some back pain.

That is the same one I have, other than mine is white and cuvave, used for the last n years now, and never had a problem with. I only got them because I lost my previous ones and my smoothhound was being repaired, but they have been so trouble free and reliable over the last years that I would need something to pull me away from using them. They also have the advantage of being very light, so they don't flap too much

I dont have an issue with how they work, but im not a fan of how they look and feel. I also haven’t got used to the on/off switch yet. I can changing channels on the transmitter by mistake while fumbling around. A bit smaller should also be nice, but at this price point i cant complain.

Five, four, one, 37, none of it matters. All that actually matters is.. whatever you play does it make people wanna party? Thats it. Personaly? Four strings have never let me down....

Totally disagree. Id say quite the opposite. WE have to be happy with what we are playing and feel comfortable with it.

It doesnt matter to the audience what we are using, and not having a 5 string is never going to stop the party.

Oh I’m not sure - just the WL20 for guitar/bass. As in not the L version (is that what you’re referring to as full range?)

I’ll be using it with a passive bass 99% of the time so thought that was best.

I’ve just remembered why i kept changing mine.

I did start off with the normal set, but at the time i was using a couple of TC Electronic pedals. The ones with the app that sends the changes via the instrument pup. I found the cable tone feature was attenuating the high freq and stopping this from working. So i got the full range set. Then i found that to be a bit ‘clicky’ when using a pick and a bright signal, so i ended up going back i the standard version.

    1st world issues 😂
