Im my experience a head makes far less difference than a cab does.
I love the BDDI (just brought another), but its often bemused me how its sold as 'just turn up anywhere and still have your sound' I get the statement, but dont think its that simple.
If you are looking at the Sansamp, be aware that the Programable doesn't have the mid control. This mid control can be very useful in these situations.
-
And now the NUX has gone back.
Back to the BDDI again. I just brought another v2. Exactly a year and 2 days after I last brought one😂
-
It seems fine on my M4 with external monitor, but not my M1 using the built in screen.
-
Maybe this is by design, but ive just noticed that when I get to the bottom of a page, and click on next page button, the new page needs a bit of scrolling up to see the first few threads.
Im on a MacBook Pro using Safari.

Recently ive been making use of Logic Pro's stem splitter (other programs/apps can also do this).
My first point of call is usually Youtube to get and idea of how it goes.
I get the track in to Logic, and then I separate the bass line from the rest of the track, and can then Solo it or mute it so I can play along with the track using my bass line.

So I used my Sennheiser 100’s again last night with a Behringer P2M as it was a sit down gig. It was probably the heat/sweat but I was struggling with the fit of one earpiece. I’m using the largest tip I’ve got, but I think I need a larger tip for my left ear.
Sound / mix wise, the gig had an in-house PA and engineer, and a quick turnaround between bands so I went with bass at unity, everything else at -6db and I had a great sound.
This might sound silly but have you tried a smaller tip? Ive always gone for the largest in the past. Ram it in and it will stay put, only I find it doesn't quite go in as far as it should. When I went down a size I found the tip would go a bit further in to the ear canal, and the fit was more secure. it also meant the IEM could sit a bit more secure in the ear.

I do all my home practicing on headphones, and never noticed any noise with my WS90's.
-
I guess it’s down to trying it personally. All the systems you mention are probably used by others without issue, so it’s going to be a personal thing.

Thanks for the replies, as it is presumably the tips that cause the sound attenuation is it really worth spending a lot on iem headphones or should I focus my money on getting a selection of tips? I have not used iems before so this is so completely new to me.
At the moment am looking at the Shure SE215 and the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro, I briefly considered the Linsoul KZ ZS10's but I found a mention somewhere of them being mid scooped which is a big no no for me.
As mentioned already, the size and shape of that IEM can make or break the experience. The tips make a difference but a few of us have found the actual IEM to be to big and heavy or just not able to sit right.
I use the same tips with my IE400’s that i did for my MEE M3’s, but a totally different experience. -
Dont forget to factor in form factor. Some of these tend to stick out quite a bit and could be knocked.
Ive had a few of those recommended and settled on the Legato WS-90. They are still quite large and cumbersome, but at least pivot. Some of the others mentioned here dont and look ugly when protruding from the bass (IMO)

Yep, i had the same experience. Started with the popular KZ’s but they were never comfortable and put me of using IEM’s for a while. Also settled on the Sennheiser’s after trying a few other brands. I have flat ears and most that i tried felt like they going to fall out, event though the seal itself was good.

I'm looking at iems at the moment and is a bit overwhelming especially being a bit neurospicy, can you really get decent sound attenuation from a set of in ears? I was looking at a set of Shure SE215 and it says up to 37db of attenuation, I am sceptical but hoping I am wrong
Also do you normally get a selection of different size tips? I am a little reluctant to fork out for iems only to find that they don't fit and are letting in a load of outside noise
Thanks
There are a lot of differnt size/types of ear tip available on Amazon etc. It can take a few attempts to get the best fit, but it’s worth it in the end.

Good choice. I sold off a lot of basses when we hit lockdown, but still kept my 60's CV. Agree about the neck. Ive had my neck on quite a few basses since I got it, but these days it's happily at home on its original body.
I do have a set of custom Wizard pups in it, and have changed the bridge as I wasn't a fan of the string spacing (20mm IIR, but prefer 19mm).
Other than that, it's all original lol.
I also had an original Sire 5 string Jazz, and that played well but was quite heavy.

Well the Laney has gone back and im really getting in to the NUX. Im surprised at how useful the IR part is.

We needed some slow songs, and ive played My girl for years, always gone down well. Stupidly I suggested this to my current band. Yeah, the bas line is simple, but ive never really taken notice of the brass and stings before. As im on keys I now have not learn as much of this as I can. Obviously I'll dumb it down as I cant play it all, but I really should have thought this through first.

I bought the Laney and I was massively disappointed in it and returned it. I also found the EQ to be very weak and subtle and if anything, it sounded very sterile and bland.
Yeah, i did see your post, but i had to give it a try. I got some nice sounds out of it for my use, but compare to the NUX it sounded bland and flat.

Thanks. I love the Tonhammer + SVT810 combo. Very punchy.

Thanks (and for your other reply). I now have both at home and feel the NUX is going to stay. I cant see me going direct to house at the moment, but i do use headphones all the time at home. The NUX just feels warmer and rounder, even without the IR on. It has a kick i couldn’t get from the Laney.
The Laney just seems a bit weak to me. The EQ is quite subtle. As you say, it’s probably a better front end for an amp.
I also like the fact that the NUX is simple to use. Very much like my BDDI. The Laney is easy to use but i found i was messing about with the switched and Mid controls a bit too much.
The NUX will stay.

What's for certain is that a decent passive Fender can sound as good as anything at any price. I prefer that raunchy Fender tone to most very expensive boutique basses.
Ive been left very cold by the expensive basses ive tried. Ive played a few Dingwalls and couldnt wait to get back to a Fender. Too sterile for me. Same with a very expensive bass that i cant remember its name, had about 100 knobs and switches and no soul.

Sounds like me. Had quite a few, sold quite a few.
Everything I think I need a stingray, I end up missing some warmth.
They can do a great job in a band context though.
Years ago i brought a MM Sub off a member here. It arrived the same day i got a Lakeland Duck Dunn (again). I took both to a gig and found the Sub was actually better for our older Motown stuff. In fact i used it for 2 out of 3 sets. I’ve always wanted to get another but still haven’t got around to it.

I struggle sometimes to make a Jazz bass work in a band setting. I play with a pick 99% of the time and I just find I can't sit in the mix as well as with my P bass. I still use a Jazz occasionaly, but it's a bit more work sometimes.

Good to hear about that experience 2.4GHz v 5.8GHz. I wonder if the costs are higher with the electronics, as Xvive are charging 10-20% more for the 5.8 version in the UK.
Yes, it does seem quite a bit more than the old version. quite surprised how expensive the Xvives are compared to the newer systems coming along. From experience (my singer) they aren't any more robust or less prone to drop outs (quite the opposite for the second bit).

Could you post a link to your Lekato model?
These are the ones i have as backup, and my guitarist also has a set.

Should I buy an amp or a preamp- which one?

Well in my experience with rehearsal rooms, any amp i took to use with their cabs sounded pretty similar. I did obviously hear a difference, but the cab would colour the amp.
It was only when i took my full rig did i get the sound i wanted and had at gigs.
