Well after all the curiosity about Morris and Bass, my mate who isn't on here sidles up and asks to borrow my Micro Cube to play bass on a tour with the local Morris Side.... It must be Spring fever. My next flight of fancy will be how do I discuss it on here if someone gifts me a Rickenbackker.....

In the unlikely event of the above scenario, I would quite like to be able to throw in a few jigs, reels or dances. Because, after all, I play bass to make people dance and sing, and these guys don't seem shy of dancing. So what is a fairly standard, 'standard' for Morris dancing? I could do with one or two up the sleeve that would get me by, please.

I am doing a slot at a mates birthday party. So I want a couple of songs to play solo and show off with. I've got 'A hard days night' by The Beatles sorted and melodied. I just want a couple more show off songs that will stand by themseves on bass alone. Suggestions, please.

I'm considering a 5. I really don't know that much about 5's or 6's. Now please correct / assist my assumptions here. Would a high B get me to the top line on the grand staff? Would a high C be a better bet and if so why? How would one go about converting a 5 from low B to a high B, would there be a need to adjust the truss rod? I assume the low B would be removed and the rest of the strings moved over rather than ratchet up the tension. Is there an easy way of getting a single high string, an equation of string sizing perhaps? I like the idea of playing two (or more) bass parts. What haven't I tought of in this cunning plan?

Hi all, Having found Ableton live lite just too un-intuitive I'm thinking of moving to Cubase. Mainly becasue my tame sound engineer can work cubase but can't work Ableton. I can get an actual person teaching me Cubase. It works with the trial version. Which way to go? Is the Elements version way better than the bundled version. Am I likely to run into problems using one companies soundcard on anothers programe?

Hi, I'd like to know what the correct words are to search for, please. Basically... I want to play some 6 string lead guitar riffs into my DAW, Ableton, which I got with a Focusrite 2i2. The guitar inputs clean, but I was wondering about how to add some virtual pedal or amplifier effects to grunge it up up a bit. I don't want to buy any real pedals or amplifiers because I'm just starting off with recording. (Although it is really satisfying to have the guitars and drums under my control.... mu wu ha ha...) The Bass is well taken care of, as you'd expect. So. er, what is it I'm looking for and is what I want already in my DAW? Many thanks, Biglump

It's the words.... The F+++++ing words!!!!!! It's like asking for exactly the right answer, or it won't co-operate. If I knew exactly the right question then I wouldn't need to ask it in the first place!!!!! I have a clip which just constantly plays and like Glenn Close in that movie it just won't die. ARRRGHHHH!!!!! Is there a way to erase everything back to factory settings?

Thanks, It's not an extension cab, but the purchase of a hefty Peavy combo thats solved my problem. Which means a redundant 5-15 ministack which I shall have to get round to advertising.

Strangely enough, I can now also play a tiny bit of piano. The double instrument thing isn't such a hurdle as it may at first seem. Middle C for the purpose of playing the bass cleff piano part is found on the 5th fret of the G string because the bass is a transposing instrument.
