  1. That’s never an arrangement for bass guitar. That’s a piano score isn’t it? Unless you’ve been told otherwise I wouldn’t play the part as written. It’s got an F below your low B on the 5 string! That wasn’t what was played on the original recording.
This could work as an exercise to follow a chart, but you can’t play the exact notes, it’s impossible. Is this on your audition? It’s more of a challenge to take the music, play something that follows the chord changes and make it sound ok!

  2. Best of luck. I also did three years at acm many moons ago and it looks like many of the same tutors are still there.
They’re very supportive and encouraging. Read the brief for the audition line by line and ensure you come prepared with what they’ve asked for. It’s easy to miss something and when the time comes it wouldnt be great to not have everything prepped.
Practice as much as you can and try to relax, play the tune and show you’re enjoying it!

  3. I think it often depends how long they’re kept in storage outside of the factory, how the warehouse maintains temp/ humidity and how they’re transported in between.
Back when I was in the mi trade we typically found the brand new models factory fresh (ie new US deluxe fenders) were usually better setup than the typical stock (US standards) which had been sitting in a warehouse for goodness knows how long.
Anything that arrived in the winter from the US was always in a state and needed a thorough overhaul pretty much regardless of who we ordered it from.

  4. Not sure if this has been posted (sorry it’s a long thread) but here is a great instructional video from a Reading based season bassist Don Chandler. There is a whole series of these, really well paced, clearly recorded, very insightful.
As a real novice to this genre I found this a great intro, there’s so much you can do with only a few notes!

Just as an aside, the Spice Girls recorded demos (yes, I know, demos) at Creative Control Studio in Bracknell.  They were based in Lightwater, just down the road.  I've used that studio several times with different bands.

This is true! Our mutual producer friend had a session interrupted by a team from french tv asking questions about the spice girls!

  6. So I could buy a custom shop p bass, jazz bass, a rick 4003 and probably still have change to get a secondhand nt warwick for the same money AND still have change for the bus ride home. I just don’t get the pricing model.

  7. That gallery experience was a long time ago but it made me  always want one of these! Maybe if I get back to playing in bands again I’ll get something along these lines. I just can’t see myself playing a gig at least for the rest of the year and I fancy some new monitors.

  8. New price £299 collected, £315 shipped.

This was originally in a behemoth of a 2x12 combo, I’ve previously sold the cab (thinking I’d get something smaller to go with the head) but have decided to sell the amp now.

It has that creamy, warm Aguilar sound and power in spades. It’s got holes for rack fittings if you want to go down that route.

I used this sparingly and never gigged it, other than a driveway jam with a neighbour. When I bought it I replaced the knobs with official spares as some of the the originals were getting on. Everything works, the only negatives are a noisy master volume pot, I imagine this will be as easy as a pot clean. Otherwise it’s a brilliant amp. Approx weight is 10kg. It’s 500 watts at 4 ohms.

I’d consider trades for some active studio monitors of similar value.

Collect from Sandhurst- please bring a cab if you want to try it or I can package and post.

Paypal (no friends and family) or cash please.

  9. Trex bassjuice. Very handy fuzz pedal. Has an on/off and boost circuit and crucially a blend control. Selling as I’ve got too many fuzz/drive options.

I used this all over my bands last three albums and gigs.

Listen to “movement five” on this Page for an example of this pedal:

not subtle and loves a really hot signal into it. I always ran a sans amp bassvt into it and it really adds a lot of flavour.

No box or manual, no battery compartment cover (I always used a 9volt psu, it has Velcro on the bottom and a few paint chips. Sounds good though!

A spanker would cost £180! Edit. Thomann are banging these out for 62 on a special at the moment. Price adjusted.

Collection from GU47 or I can post within the price. Cash on collection or Paypal (no friends and family). Ta!
