Excuse my ignorance but what’s an acc-126?

Doesn’t say what the 2 switches do in the description. Could be good value if the basics are assembled well.

Activier? Sounds like yoghurt. I’d love to see what was lower on the list.

Led zep, Bowie, The smiths, King crimson, kraftwerk, Motown was all on heavy rotation was I was growing up.
I love all of these and it’s certainly had an impact on my playing and musical taste.
I had a weird nostalgic moment listening the smiths recently when I swear I felt like I’d stood on some Lego. No Lego in sight, just a weird flashback to some point in my youth when my dad was spinning vinyl in the front room. -
I’d say I’m pretty average, but reckon I’ve played in some above average bands over the years.
Point I’m trying to make is that it’s not about the individuals, but how they come together that’s the important bit for the music. No one cares how good you are if the band just doesn’t gel.

Best reason to go DI only! Wouldn’t fancy carrying a bass rig around.

Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately purchasing plans are on hold for a bit as my aquarium needs a new filter and lights. It’s going to consume my disposable income in the short term.
I’ll come back to this thread and update it once I’ve actually bought something. 😀

Love the headstock. Might be the first time I’ve seen a matching scratch-plate headstock and it’s brilliant.

They’re pretty savvy on internet advertising. If you do a generic google search “I want to buy a bass”, they always turn up high or first.
Product is very cheap, checkout is fairly easy, lots of models/colours to choose from.
Schools buy a lot of them as well. I’ve never played a good one! But they are often in a sorry state when they turn up secondhand.

That 4 string is so beautiful. The neck through looks so incredible on its (ahem) backside. If I had that I think I’d display it backwards on a stand!

Bit of a greatest hits episode tonight. How good was Jill Scott & band?

I’m a fan of the brand. The bass vt is a staple on my board but doesn’t do this sort of sound well.

Crikey it’s over £300! Ticks a lot of boxes though.

The Tech21 Steve Harris is very good for this.
Interesting. I don’t associate him with that sort of tone, but that’s not to say the pedal can’t manage it.

Hi hive mind! I want to get a drive pedal that has two switchable levels and flavours of drive. I used to use a trex bass juice that had an on/off and a boost. Something similar but different! Ideally, a preamp that has an on/off, then drive 1 and then drive 2 gain levels would be splendid, but not essential.
Any recommendations? Seen a Goliath effects desolation which looks the ticket.

If only they could make these at the same price as the 40th anniversary squiers!

In my younger years , I'd be anxiously looking forward to meet and greets like this . That was then , and Living in London at the time I'd manage to get to them 99% of the time . One of my friends ( a big rush fan like myself ) highlighted the Portsmouth date but knowing south western railway on a Sunday ( with over 2 hrs each way ) I just said that I couldn't be bothered . Not very rock'n'roll I agree.😬
In my reply to his email, I did point out that if he was working in London on the Barbican date that he should go .
Having said that , we were both lucky to see Geddy at the Haymarket premiering the film .
If I did go, I would think that times are hard but it's worth paying for . Plus it's a collectors item if you're into that.
As I say , I did do a few meet and greets . Always seemed to be on Monday lunchtimes . This involved asking / begging my boss and work colleagues to allow me and give me more flexibility in case I was late back . Waiting 4 hrs for metallica in shades in showery conditions was not fun !
Meeting the various rock / pop stars was always a Rush ( sorry ) .
The 2 nicest people I met and queued up for were Bob Calvert and Jean michel Jarre . Was among the last dozen allowed .
Metallica ; Cliff was the best . Lars was confused by the test pressing I had of their first 12" single .
Meeting Mercyful fate was very odd ; I rushed into shades to get the 12" and Mike pointed the band to me over on the table .It was just me , and they all spoke in Danish . I got a handful of signed stickers and left .
Most miserable ; Alice Cooper ! The band were great , but he looked angry and didn't talk to anybody . I didn't realise until years later that he nearly died from hanging at the gig I saw at Wembley ! I guess that's why he was a tad grumpy .I'm sure Geddy won't be like that
I have Geddy's book of Bass , but if his autobiography is on Audible I'd prefer that .
I really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for posting and reminiscing. -
I’d love for Thomastik infeld to keep making their current products, but just in a way that brings the prices down!
Nothing wrong with the finished article, I just hate paying £60 per set of jazz flats!-

Twice!
A&R told us “there’s only one incubus”, reviewing then bands finest work in my early twenties. Reject & exit stage right. 🤣
Reaching the age of 40 without headlining the Sunday night at Reading festival. Oh well.

I’ve been trying to work out what I like the most about this. Blocks and binding? Scratchplate? Gold hardware? I don’t think I really love any particular design choice but all together it just looks killer. Im so jealous I don’t have £260 knocking around to grab one!

Looks like it’s been in a river! Going to be very satisfying to remove the dna that’s on it and bring it back to life. Got some rubber gloves?

The working guys I know are some of the friendliest, easiest to work with people with inexhaustible amounts of drive and stamina. I’d say this is waay more important than gear, although there is a minimum level needed for sure.
Networking is also the ticket to success and it’s a real skill that leads to the phone ringing.-

Decided I needed something new to inspire me to practice more. Ever get stuck in a rut and need something shiny to encourage you to get back to the bass shed? Well that was me and scratch definitely itched!
My orange b25 was ace at outputting meagre fart impressions at low volume so decided to up it a bit.
I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new amp on BC and FB for a while and this rumble combo turned up for sale a couple of miles down the road. I’m not gigging at the mo but wanted to get something that would work if the opportunity arose. I’ve had big rigs in the past and miss the weight (tone-wise) a decent size cab can deliver, even at low volumes.
Fantastic enjoyable, easy purchase and nice chat from the seller led to me purchasing this 1x15 200 watt combo. Pretty much mint condition and barely used.
It sounds great, is super light and works brilliantly at low volume. Initial preference is to run the gain really high, vintage switch in and eq mostly flat. No real tinkering to get a good sound.
I get a lot more noticeable variation in tone now when changing pickups/ right hand position.
It’s made practice fun again. I’m flicking through tuition books that I’ve ignored for years. For the first time ever my neighbour told me he could hear what I was playing and gave me a compliment. I think it was a polite way of telling me to turn down! Reminder to self to be reasonable with the volume.
So far so good! If I actually get the chance to play out the house I’ll update this thread with thoughts.

Prejudices When Choosing A Bass
in Bass Guitars
Posted
I hate where people remove scratchplate film but leave bits under the controls.
High action
New basses that don’t come with a case.
Small strap buttons
Plastic highly destructible battery box covers
Sticky necks/ other peoples gunk
