  1. You need to consider eq and pots - John east makes something suitable
  2. Yes, I would
  3. I had one once - nice thing
  4. Too tall also
  5. Not to labour the point but I recently got my basses out of storage a mere four years after we moved in. Making our home habitable for my partner and children has meant non stop DIY. I’m still playing the Warwick red round wounds they got put away wearing (basses, not kids) and so £14 a set for new flats looks pretty good, I don’t have any way to justify spending £50 on a single set of strings when we still need to find a tiler and pay him
  6. Perhaps because some of us have a budget, small children to feed and clothe, and limited practice time that makes amazing strings likely to lose their sparkle before they get used much ?
  7. What about these from same vendor ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLATWOUND-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Gauge-45-Power-Swing-Set-Light-Medium-Olympia-/332486029353?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

  10. They’re a fad, never last…blah blah emperors new clothes … rounds were good enough for my great granddad whilst he was holding out against the boers at mafeking… they’re in Shakespeare- he used them on his lute… probably … etc
  11. @TheGreek now you’ve got him really upset - he’ll come round to your house and relic a Stratocaster on your finest China dogs. ** **assuming he was wearing gloves so as not to make actual skin contact with a weedy stringed monstrosity
  12. Adagio on eBay are not super-expensive at around £14 to dip your toe in the water
  13. Well that’s fighting talk 🤭 the man said he needed a kick up the backside, not to be called a worthless egotistical lazy guitard

  16. I think of the O in offside as being like the steering wheel so it’s easy
  17. Is Hank Marvin playing a gold hardware strat ? i like b/b/ maple but didn’t know they came with gold
  18. Your English is absolutely fine, I’ve met native born speakers of English who would not get a vocabulary or command of grammar anywhere like yours even if they lived to be 1000. English is complicated, really complicated, as I am learning whilst teaching my children
  19. Not without molegrips
  20. You can use copper tape to hold it down
  21. I recall a feature on U2 in “making music” mag c. 1990 where edge says AC “uses a little compression and nothing else” (then)
  22. And they’ll make you wear silly clothes
  23. Guess that’s why 12 bars are popular …
  24. I was referring to monty python holy grail - “lady in the lake her arm clad in shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur…” if LZ can drag Gollum in I don’t see why prog mightn’t go a bit myths and legends
