1.
Hey people can anyone recommend the best slap bass album by certain artists. Im talking lots of slapbass lines.. Lois Johnson, L Graham..??
For an exhibition of the above the 1993 Japanese CD 'MO FUNK' by The Jazz Funk Masters featuring Louis Johnson has Louis slappin' an poppin' his way through eight Motown classics. Wonderful stuff indeed
2. Has anyone on the forum got (or has played) an Ibanez VWB1 Verdine White Signature? Cheers for any info.
3. The 4-CD box set 'The Pet Sounds Sessions' that was released in the mid 1990s has some interesting mixes and backing tracks plus an excellent book on the 'making of Pet Sounds'. The Bass players on these sessions (listed as Fender Bass & String Bass) were: Carol Kaye, Lyle Ritz, Ray Pohlman & Chuck Berghofer
4. I've had my Ashbory for a few years now and although i'm strictly a bedroom player i like it. Using SLIDE-RITE by GRIP-RITE helps.
5.
+1 for bilbo suggesting Percy Jones, well worth checking out his approach and applying it to the rock side of things, the other chap that's also worth checking out is Mick Stevens.
Totally agree with both re: Percy Jones. His 1990 CD 'Cape Catastrophe' is (for me) up there with the best Bass albums.
6. Kim Clarke of 80s U.S. Avant Funkers DEFUNKT must be up there with the very best.
