  1. One trip to Edinburgh later... Okay, I'm still on my way back! Gotta love Competition Burgundy. Thanks Dave!
  2. Wow Andy. That looks amazing. You'd better apply to run the European Marketing Dept of SoloKing.
  3. Yes, I have to say that my trip to visit Will at Bass Bros was well worth it. The most expensive trip of it's kind [ever], but definitely worth it.
  4. Yes, I was thinking it all looks like nice enough hardware, but not £800 worth.
  5. Looks like you're missing a finger or two as well!
  6. I think you're probably the default winner there! And for THAT bass it had to be worth it.
  7. I just found a very interesting supposed Pino bass for sale and did a little research. Anyone got any more info on the "Ox Bird" Bass he used with T-Bird pickups?
  8. It just crossed my mind... Mainly, because I'm sitting on a train, traveling from Derby to Edinburgh today to pick up a bass from another BassChatter. So, anyone done more than 500 miles in a day for a Bass..?
  9. At £33 this seems too good to be true, but I'm seriously tempted to try one to take around schools (if it turns out to be any good!) Bluetooth so you can play backing tracks or stream music from your phone too...
  10. Are Badass still making bridges these days? (I have a vague memory that Leo Quan went out of business of something about 15 years ago?)
  11. Hehe, good point. The S23 does still have the graphite rods and the Richlite phenolic fingerboard. Apparently they're very good.
  12. I'm liking "Stumpstock". I like it a lot.
  13. Looks like a late 60s/early 70s Teisco 'Top Twenty' Short Scale or the Kay version. My money is on it being the Teisco.
  14. Hope you enjoy it. They're supremely fast and great sounding basses for the money.
  15. Much more than that and the hostess' underwear will vaporise!
  16. "These are not the Tonewoods you are looking for..."
  17. Yes, these threads are definitely bad for your bank account!
  18. Going off on a slight tangent, have you tried adjusting the stock pickup closer to the strings? There's a sweet spot for Jazz pickups, usually about 3-4mm from the bottom of the string to the pole pieces on the bridge pickup, and around 5-6mm on the neck pickup. That can make a huge amount of difference to your sound before you start any modifications.
  19. That's the other application for me - A near-Status when I don't want to take a Status to a particular venue. Again, my only complaint with the Space Basses is the output is a little low - about equal to a passive Jazz bass, but that's sortable by turning up the gain.
  20. Well I can tell you the 5-string version was very light, and this is obviously a little lighter again. They sit on the strap at a similar angle to a Status S2 design. Very central and perfect balance. I will say that the narrower neck is even faster to whizz around on than the five, which was already very fast.
  21. Thanks for that, Tauzero - I'll have a look at that. I've been using headless tuning systems for over 35 years now, and I've never had one fail. But the smooth motion is very appealing, as they do stick a bit from time to time.
  22. Whassat, then..?. 🤔
  23. I had one of the last Dimension Elites in the trans Cayenne finish for about eight years. Only traded it in, as I needed the trade-in collateral when buying my KingBass Mk-II. The Dimension HH was a great bass and a MusicMan HH slayer. Hopefully Fender will do a reissue sometime.
  24. After taking myself outside for a good talking to, I decided that letting my Cort Space 5 go was a mistake, and I missed having it around as a backup/teaching bass that mostly lived in the boot of the car. I liked everything about it, apart that I had to have a 5-string at the time, so I traded the pretty bitsa Jazz bass with the EMGs, as I've got two working and earning Jazz basses which are both permanent fixtures on the fleet, and got an as new Space 4. Simples. 🤔 So overall, it's a break even deal and all I've lost is a 5th string. Hopefully the last NBD for a while. (He said!) Pictured here with it's SoloKing brethren.
