  2. I'm about to buy the DG Microtubes 500v2, but I have some concerns regarding its reliability. I read some topics about its overheating problem and other "just a pop and stopped working" stuff. I'd play the head almost always on stage a lot with a miced 810 cab, and as I remember according to the topics, these problems occurred when the di or headphone outs were used. As a paranoid musician, I always have some kind of backup plan, but it is still a bummer in a live situation. I just want to ask any former or current owners of this head if you had any kind of problem with it. I don't really need those extra few perks of the 900 version for the extra money, but if somehow it's more reliable (i don't know if it's possible since the guts of the amp are the same) i'll go for that one. I can also imagine that a more recent firmware update solved these kind of problems. Any advice would help. cheers

  4. My workhorse is a Player series Fender. I bought it because I did not want to commute with the more expensive older basses to rehearsals. I read somewhere back then that these Player series are almost as good as the mid 00's-10's Usa standards. I owned and played quite few from that era so I had a good reference. I can tell you, it's as good as the 2010's usa sandard series. I can highly recommend it if you don't want to bust your bank.
  5. Since it doesn't have any marking on the fretboard I can only rely on my ears despite the side dots. It also deceptive to my eyes (and i think to others as well) visually when I look down. So ears only on this horse.
  6. I'm happy with the natural finish. Who'd stripped it did a great job. It has a satin some kind of wax layer and that's all. Besided I have 2 other sunburst P's. All in all you're right
  7. Good point, although as I said before it's not all original by now. It was sunburst originally and now it has a natural finish. That's how I bought it.
  8. Exactly one of my thoughts. A same era neck itself is almost the price of the bass i bought it for.
  9. Yeah sure but it’s also like when a shrink says I already know the answer and the decision has been made long before I asked the question. I’m more like in the “it’s a tool and it should serve you to do your craft” team.
  10. It’s not that I don’t have a fretted bass. I’m grateful to have 3 other perfectly serving fretted basses. But that P has a totally different sound than the others and it would serve me better with frets in the music I play. But it’s interesting how devisive this topic is.
  11. Yeah I guess that’s why I’m hesitating. It’s an all original neck and I’m hundred percent sure I’d regret it. On the other hand if I have it done, I would not sell it ever. I’m standing on the edge with this.
  12. This the bass that I’ve been playing on mainly for years now. Built like a tank, sounds like machine. Hundreds of hours live gig amd studio time. The most comfortable bass I’ve ever played. It’s a G&L sb1.
  13. So I’m happy to own a 78 fretless P bass with rosewood fingerboard. It’s not original anyway because the finish was stripped down in the past. What do you think about it? I know there are plenty of aftermarket replacement necks but I love the look of the original.
  14. I don’t know why am I keep looking at these, since I already own one. Best precision bass ever.
  15. Hello, I'm planning to buy a modern smaller head and the new GK legacy series are looking good. Since I only use old solid state heads for years now (various Sunn, Acoustic and Peavey models), and the only one I haven't owned or tried yet is the classic 800RB, I'm curious if anybody compared the new heads to the old 800 RB. I read some other threads about the power ratings of the heads that the 500 model is not really 500W, the 800 is the real deal, but my current vintage SS heads are between 100-200W and they are loud as hell on my 810 cab. The simple answer would be 'get the original 800rb lad', but you know, this new one just looks great. Anyway if any of you have any experience with the old compared to the new one, just shoot it below.
  16. It might be a dumb question since you want the money from it for expenses, but interested in any trade? I tried it
  17. Hi, I'm selling my Dan Armstrong Ampeg plexi bass Japan reissue version from 1998. All original. This is the smoked version, with all the accesories ( Bright bass, dark bass switchable pickups, truss rod wrench, thumbrest). This all come in a custom made heavy duty flight case. Specs: - Short Scale - Smoked acrylic body - Rosewood fingerboard - 3 pieces maple neck - Rosewood bridge with brass saddles - Original shielded pickguard - Volume, Tone knob - Bass boost switch Price: 1300 GBP (OBO) I would trade it for a G&L SB-1 (1985-89) or old Fender P (79 or earlier) I'm located in Hungary, shipping is no problem. I tour in the UK from the middle of April (London area), so I can bring it there.
  18. Sent you a dm.
  19. Thank you for the answers. First I'll try the DI box before the pedals (now I don't really use any, the tone of the beta bass is rad enough. I just use a tuner). If it works great with the simple di box, I'd save myself from the sansamp which price is a kind of robbery.
