1.
I had a white one for a while. It was a very nice well made guitar but despite the MM style pup it is very much a jazz. If you like P basses you are best to stay away IMHO. It didn't work for me.
This was what I was worried about to be honest - this and the resale value not being great lead me to decline the trade offer. Ta everyone for the advice
 2.
The TM supreme is the higher spec.About £400 at least of upgrades compared to a regular Cali TM.
Any idea what the upgrades are? The Sandberg website is not very forthcoming about the differences.
 3.
Is that the Cali II version? I have a passive TT and have just ordered a VS in a custom colour. I think they're great basses, phenomenal necks imho.
California 1 by the looks - i think the 2 has a slightly different body shape. And yeah, i keep hearing great things about them. Still, have decided to say no for now. Like i said, if it had been a VM i'd have been all over it. Thanks for all the feedback people!
 4.
Lemme see now...£27.53, cash waiting.
I guess I asked for that!
 5. Yeah, kinda what I expected price-wise. They do look nice basses - if it had had a P pup, i wouldn't be hesitating! Thanks for your input Mudpup
 6. Hi all, I have been offered a Sandberg TM4 Supreme in a trade. I've always fancied a Sandberg, but one of the VMs - I'm more of a P man than a J - so not sure whether to go for it or not. Anyone here have any idea of the approximate resell value if I don't get on with it? It looks quite pretty:
 7. Not a solid state, but I've gotten really good results from my Vox AC10 C1 - small, lightweight (12kgs), and lovely sound. If you do need any extra volume (although I never have), you can plug in an external cab. Always fancied a jazz chorus as well - a different sound, but worth checking out i reckon.
 8. Fender Precision MiM from 2007. Been my main gigging bass for the past 3-4 years, so a few small scratches, but nothing major. Sounds great, plays really nice and looks awesome! Strung with a brand new set of D'Addario rounds. No case or gig bag, so would prefer local collection in / near Cardiff. More photos here: http://www.23hq.com/.../album/27812640 Thanks for looking!
 9. I had a similar thing happen with my A string when I re-stringed yesterday. Kinda tricky to explain, but I changed the winding of the string so instead of the string going into the tuner at the bottom, and wrapping around above it, it went the other way. Stopped the buzzing straight away. Check out the photo below. Not sure if there is a correct way of winding strings, but I've always done them like the E string in the photo. Is there a right way to do this?
 10. Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions.
At the time it was a Sans Amp Bass Driver as not much else was available years ago. I still use one of those when I want that particular sound, but only occasionally as they can be tone suckers. These days I mostly use an Aguilar Tonehammer when I need one, great pedal.
Heard good things about the Tonehammer. Do you have any experience of the amp? Wondering whether the head would offer the same tone shaping/colouring that the pedal offers, or whether the pedal goes a bit further.
Is the problem on stage, FOH or both? I find my 4003 can lack balls for the on stage sound unless I'm in front of the cabs and the guitarist has problems picking me out in the onstage sound. Out front the sound is fine, sits nice in the mix. I usually go middle position with both pups full on in terms of tone and vol.
You're right - out front it seems to sit fine, its just on stage and at practice that I struggle.
A passive bass with a mid scoop may benefit from boosted low mids.
All this seems to be pointing to an EQ issue, with possibly particular preamp or maybe a different amp (or even a different band!) needed to get around it (I have tweaked my pf-500 amp to bits without much joy). I think I might take the bass out to some shops and try a few different pre's and heads, see how they effect the sound. Will let you all know how I get on. Appreciate all the feedback people - lovely forum this one.
 11.
I had a similar issue when I needed to use short scales for a few years. I used preamp pedals to sort it out and although the tone never came close to my P Bass, it got me a better tone I was happy with.
Hm.. hadn't thought of that. Definitely a simpler solution to swapping out the pups. What preamp pedal were you using?
What is it that isn't sitting nicely? I've used my 4003s with my 80s covers band, a blues gig and a Pink Floyd gig and it seems fine (a little push in the mids on the amp's EQ and the neck p/up just backed off ever so slightly).
Its just that my P fills up all the low end space, and lets the guitars sit nicely on top. I find the rick occupies a similar space to the guitars, which works well for some of our noisier songs, but Im wanting to pad out the low end more for others.
http://www.retrovibe...ts/pickups.html Ive got a set of high gains in my greco faker, sound a lot more ballsy than my proper 4003.
Didn't know Retrovibe were doing pickups now! Had one of their basses a while back - remember getting on well with it. Ta for the suggestions!
 12. Hi, I've been struggling getting my Ricky 4003s to sit nicely in the mix when playing with the band, so have come to the conclusion that the bass isn't for me, and that I'd be better off going back to a P-bass. Thing is, I love the feel of the thing! Really like the neck, think it looks lovely, and I am more than happy with the sound when practicing, just been struggling with getting the sound to sit in the mix with a band. I have tried flats - again, nice sound when practicing, but didn’t sit in the mix with the band. I was wondering if there are any pickups out there I could pop in it that might give me a warmer, fatter sound? Im playing through an Ampeg PF-500 into a BF SuperTwin, and I play a range of stuff from reggae to motown to c86 style indiepop, using both plectrums and fingers. I’m guessing the answer is just stick with my p-bass, but thought id ask here before moving it on, just in case. Thanks for any suggestions/thoughts! Stephen
 13. Peter just bought my Strymon Ola. Quick payment, great comms and super easy to deal with - thanks very much Peter!
 14. Only 4 pedals left bump!
 15. Ale bought a phaser pedal from me - super quick payment and really easy guy to deal with. Thanks very much Ale!
 16. Thank you Grangur! It is a lovely sounding amp, great for the studio, but also works well as a small, lightweight gigging amp. Gets even more grunty when plugged in to an external cab for those larger gigs!
 17. Just so, so nice. There are days I question my choice of lifestyle over money! Good luck with the sale!
