  1. Quality basses these. I have two. Hard to think of a better made instrument under £500.
  2. And a good price. The j pu isn’t too shabby either. 😀
  3. Mark designs and commissions great instruments. I bought a Neutrino 6 stringer on a whim a few years ago and although it got smashed up big time in transit I managed to fix it sufficiently for home practice and its a joy to play. GLWYS
  4. Yamaha SA 1100 guitar. Made in Japan in the 90s.** £500 incl posting to mainland UK. Now £450 incl posting To mainland UK All works as it should. Some dings and scuffing to top of the headstock and some fretwear in first position. White binding has yellowed a bit. See photos. There is one of these currently for sale on Gumtree for £1k so price set for quick sale. Includes tatty hard case which will protect the guitar in transit. Thanks for looking. David ** A fellow basschatter has alerted me to the possibility that this was made in Taiwan as while it has a label saying made in Japan inside the f hole it doesn’t say it on the back of the headstock. Unfortunately the serial number doesn’t appear to shed any light either as it follows no Yamaha known numbering scheme that I can see, although this is not too unusual, apparently. That said, there are a few SA1100s for sale around the world atm, none have made in Japan on the back of the headstock either and all are considerably more expensive than mine. So grab a bargain!
  5. 8lb so under 4kg according to my scales. I knew someone would pick me up on that. Sorry. Lazy eh. This is on hold for now but it’s beautiful twin fretless is still around😉
  6. Yamaha TRB Series I 5 string fretted for sale. Made in Japan, 34 in scale, 19mm spacing. 45mm at nut. Weight 8 lbs/4 kg. Active adjustable mid and total output internally. A few small dings and light scratching and one larger bash as photographed. Some moderate fretwear. Damaged hardcase included. Collection preferred. Postage would be extra at cost. Thanks for looking. David
  7. I don’t know. It certainly has a lovely swirl. ON HOLD
  8. Thanks! Yamaha quality is undeniable. I have 7. I am only selling this because I can’t do it justice and have too many and I don’t see the point consigning basses to the loft. Factoring in the brand new TI flats which are wonderful, I would have thought this now represents excellent value for a series 1 TRB in good condition?
  9. Fantastic basses, these. Quality hardware, including a metal nut and pu’s that deliver excellent p, pj and j tones at the flick of a switch. Can’t go wrong at that price.
  10. Tascam Cd bass trainer with psu. Full working order. No box but will pack well. Price includes U.K. postage. Thanks for looking. David
  11. Full working order and in good condition. Includes the Zoom 28 meg Sandisk. No box or DC power plug but also runs on batteries. Will be well packed. Don’t ask me anything about functionality as I wouldn’t have a clue. I have never used this. Price includes U.K. postage. Thanks for looking. David Now £20 ono
  12. Yes and it’s a lined fretboard, I guess I should have made that clear. If you zoom into the photos you can see.
  13. All original. I forgot to add that the neck profile is super flat and different to the fretted version. I have one of those as well. And the action can be as low as you want. This bass must have spent much of its life in its case as there is no tarnish on the hardware.
  14. SOLD BIG PRICE REDUCTION £500 collection Now willing to post this and will include Uk mainland shipping cost in price. I can courier on Monday and you could have it on Tuesday 19 July. I may change my mind and keep this so if anyone is interested please do get in touch over weekend. This is no longer on hold as the intended purchaser didn’t show and hasn’t been in contact. If you read this, I hope you are ok! Price reduced to £600 as I have my eye on something and have negotiated a one in = one out with she who must be obeyed😆 Yamaha TRB 5 string fretless. Series one (with cutaway). Made in Japan. Serial number 4N1 3074 which I think means it is dated 13 May 1989. Can’t guarantee that though. A few minuscule nicks and a slightly larger dint on the lower horn (see picture). Some scratching to the fretboard due to a previous owner using rounds, but for a 29 year old bass, this is in great condition. 34 ins scale, 19mm spacing, 45mm at nut, 80mm at 24th fret. Weight around 8lbs. Ash body, maple neck, rosewood board, 2 band active, adjustable mid boost and total output. Strung with new TI flats. Comes with the original Yamaha hard case also in great condition. You won’t see many of these early models up for sale and the value is increasing and will likely continue to..because they are awesome. I am only selling because this bass deserves to be played by someone much more proficient than me, and because I have amassed more basses than I have room for now and am under strict orders to cull😢. That said, I am in no hurry, so I don’t intend to lower the price and I doubt this will be bumped a lot. No experience of trading, so it would have to be someone reasonably near, and actually, I am only after a decent fretted 5 string, JV jazz, or a good combo in mint condition. So much prefer a sale. Same goes for collection although posting isn’t completely out of the question, but cost is not included in the price. Thanks for looking. David

  16. Pierre, do you know if Adrian’s team hold spare neck replacement stock. I need one for an Elwood custom 5 string that has a busted rod. Thanks! David 44 791 868 2028.
  17. Gently. Don’t force it as I did😢 btw, Adrian hasnt responded to me yet. I sent him a couple of emails but only have the general email address. Does anyone know the best number for him? Ta.
  18. Would agree. Check out Johnny Long’s run through. I was very keen on this but too far from me and shipping was complicated due to no hard case. I am sure this will be so much fun to play.
  19. Thanks both. Appreciated. I always thought you tightened truss rods clockwise but I guess not. I wonder if I was just unlucky ( as well as being a numpty) with the neck. They are quite a soft wood so must be prone to more movement? Has anyone else had problems with low action consistent across the fretboard with Elwoods? Such a shame because as everyone says, the sound, feel, look and quality for the price is great. I have emailed Adrian. Let’s see if he has the Christmas spirit. .
  20. So here is a tragic story. Acquired a lovely Elwood from this site about a year ago. Action has never been right. Mid to upper positions appreciably higher than first position. I hate that. Neck isn’t straight. Truss rod tightens anti clockwise and was already maxed out when I bought it. Bridge saddles can’t go any lower. So being the idiot that I am, I took the neck off yesterday, loosened the truss rod then re tightened and, bang, the nut came off with an inch of rod with it. ? I will contact Adrian tomorrow, I guess my options are limited to ordering a replacement neck unless miraculously someone can fit a new nut as the break is so close to the nut..unless it’s a welded unit. if anyone has any experience of a situation like this, knows a great fixer in the London area, knows what the nut size is, or has bought a replacement neck from Adrian, I would be eternally grateful for any advice you can provide. These basses have a lovely sound and nice feel so I do want to sort unless economically stupid. Thanks, David
  21. I have one, the neck is fantastic on mine. As Bassassasin said, if the money is right, go for it. I paid 400 which imo was slightly above market but these don’t come up that often unless you import from one of those Vintage Japanese websites. This specimen should cost you less.
