Are there any usable out-of-the-box patches from the bass perspective?

There is plenty of people doing bass patches for HX stomp, are there any downloadable(free or paid) patched for Ampero 2 for bass?

Honestly not sure on that one... I've seen a guy on YouTube offering patches that sound good in his demoes, but for me half the fun is experimenting with amp models etc.

I know the guitar presets sound tremendous, so I can only assume there are at least a couple of decent bass ones

Hey. Question to those who have and use Ampero 2 Stomp.

Is there a way to enable/disable specific effects in the chain with one stomp button (potentially some extension)?

I just tried Zoom B1 Four and while you can do it by pressing one of the flat buttons, it isn't very convenient or accurate.

There is an option called "ctrl", which is a very basic snapshot function in that you tell the unit which blocks to turn on and off with that 1 ctrl footswitch.

They've said snapshots are coming with the next update though, which is a whole other level of functionality!

  3. Spectracomp up for grabs... images to follow after work tomorrow 👍

Let go of a cali76 a while back but thought I'd give the compression thing one more go before deciding its not for me. After a good go at persevering with it, turns out compressions just not for me 🤦‍♂️.

Good used condition, works fine and reset to factory... no box etc and velcro on back (hence the low price).

Happy to meet or deliver locally, also happy to ship at buyers cost.

  4. One and only price drop - £750

Ibanez med scale headless bass with upgraded gigbag and knobs, with mono strap and fretwrap included (original knobs and gigbag also included)

Good condition bar small nick at headstock (common on these) and a bit of chipped finish at the strap peg.

Most ergonomically comfortable bass I've ever played, super lightweight, mega comfortable neck and balances like a dream. With a mega punchy sound. Has 3 band active eq and active passive switch.

Knobs are a custom made resin knobs which reacts to UV light (made by woodland cast in Canada), gig bag is a Shergold deluxe padded guitar bag (perfect fit) Mono strap is a black L mono Betty strap and fret wrap is the perfect size for a 5 string

Selling as was bought for a project that didn't pan out, and I'm a 4 string guy at heart

Can look at shipping at buyers cost but would prefer local collection or will delivery locally for free or try to arrange a meet

  5. The larger flagship Ampero II Stomp is a phenomenal bit of kit, and if Hotone's standing wasn't in the lower budget chinese arena I think it would be a HX stomp killer (or at least challenger).  If this is even close to that quality then it'll be a tremendous bit of kit!

  6. If you have an EQ pedal, try a small boost around 60hz and slightly larger boost around 150hz.. I do this with my jazz bass and it makes a huge difference. Personal preference of course so YMMV.  That being said, I had an active jazz recently that I couldn't EQ the thin/brightness out of.  Sometimes it's just in the wood as mentioned above.

I play mostly 5ers. Have been a Stingray5 guy since forever, but also owned several other 5 strings. Most expensive of them were an EBMM Sterling5 HS (doesn't count, still a Musicman), a Fender Am Dlx P5 (worst "expensive" 5er I've owned) and a Maruszczyk Jake 5a+ (& was indeed about to buy an Elwood 5er a few months ago). Also have played countless Sandberg 5ers, which I find barely OK for their price. I'd take the Sire V3 5er over any Fender/Maruszczyk/Sandberg 5er I've played, no doubt (also I hate DEADlano pickups). Feel really stupid for not getting a Sire years ago.

Admittedly the Delanos and pre-amp left me wanting on the Sandy, and thus they were pulled and replaced by a local builders custom picks ups and passive circuit.  Build and playability are amazing on it though, but again not worth the £1300 compared the the sire by any means...

Aha, thank you! Yes, I got the 4 string version too so I’m hoping that will be light enough for gigs etc.

interesting on the pickups, I do love a fat type of pickups due to my precision bass background and the genre, so that’ll help massively - good to hear the ‘Fat J Revolution’ pickups the V5R comes with aren’t just marketing but a hint at the character 😂

Completely agree some Fender can be mental heavy and tbh 9.5lbs/4.3kg is not a demand for a super light bass anyways… I asked Thomann if they could weigh it but no charm.

… if it’s bloody heavy I can order another one to have my pick and then return the boat anchor if any of them is haha

    Thanks again!

    Ander.

I hope I haven't "over egged" the fat pick ups mind, I'd hate to cause disappointment!  I just feel that to me, it's got a bit more body to the tone than the other couple of Jazz basses I've had in the past, it doesn't quite have the same fullness as a P (although, I don't think that's the point of a jazz). Either way, I'm sure there'll be a lot to like... enjoy your NBD when it comes!

Gah!!! I love it, this is seriously so sexy!! I hadn’t seen any around here on that colour/spec for the V5R.

what’s the weight like? Have you felt any need to change the pickups?

I’m thinking it could become my main gigging bass, the stingray special is likely too precious to expose to crowds in a punk rock gig sometimes…

my only real concern is the weight, I hope it kicks under 9.5lbs.

    Ander.

It's not as light as the Sandy (which is very light) but it's certainly lighter than the Fender MIM deluxe jazz I had before it!  I wouldn't consider it heavy by any means, but it is the 4 string so YMMV.

Not majorly exposed to jazz basses, but don't feel the need to change the pick ups. To me it's fatter than the jazz Deluxe in passive mode, but with a gorgeous high mid punch with both Pups on full.

Your SR special is a dream bass for me!  🤤 but this will definitely feel a safer bet for gigging for you and it'll still do punk rock perfectly!

  10. Seriously impressed with mine... headstock takes some getting used to, and a couple on minor QC issues (blemished scratchplate and blemished tuner) that Andertons were very quick and painless with putting right, and I wouldn't expect to be the normal order.

Other than that though, killer bass and one of the best necks I've ever played. Every gig now is a challenge whether I chose this or my Sandberg California II VT4 (which is my ride or die for playing comfort) and the sire comes out on top at least 8/10 gigs. I could've bought 4 of the Sire bass for the cost of the Sandberg, too!

  11. I made the switch to IEMs (rest of the band use wedges) and going FOH a couple of months ago... I miss my amp, but it makes a huge difference to the load in, load out and stage aesthetic.

We play 90s/00s dance/rave with some 80s/90s pop and indie thrown in, and whilst I hear and feel the difference, the sound is definitely more even from the P.A. with plenty of low end (although less immediate authority than my amp), I've realised the audience doesn't notice the difference, and that's where it counts.  I was tempted to sell my amp, but you never know when the need will arise.

Hopefully the last edit I make! (It won't be). New (to me) Cali76 is a game changer for me!

*Hotone soul press used as an expression pedal, which controls overdrive gain, a volume pedal and a bass wah within the ampero stomp.

*Ampero stomp used for Ampeg SVT preamp into slight studio reverb with global eq providing targeted mid bumps as well as LPF and HPF. Also used for drive, various song specific eqs aswell as, envelope filter, stacked compressor, phase, and stacked drive and fuzz.

Side note: what a dark horse the ampero II stomp is! Fantastic sounding modeller, with brilliant user interface. Their own model of bass drive (solid steel) sounds bloody marvellous, and I usually hate digital drives. Special shout outs to their green phase and moog envelope filter models too... personally find this to be quality over quantity,  but what it does I'd argue it does best in class (2 x hx stomp owner here for comparrison).

  13. As mentioned on a similar thread, I'm having great results with the NUX C-5RC wireless set!  I'm amazed they don't get more mentions.  Small, rechargeable, protective case that is also rechargeable and charges the units when stored, cable tone, no noticeable latency... cracking bit of kit for less than £150. Love mine!

  14. I went the Hotone Ampero II stomp route after having two failed attempts at the HX stomp... the touch screen and rotary knob combination works like a dream and it's a real dark horse when it comes to sound quality with more DSP on tap than the stomp (although certainly more limited functionality up to now).  I think if i'd have been aware of this unit, I'd have given it a shot over the Ampero in honesty, it seems to address a lot of what I see as shortcomings on the Ampero (4 x FS vs 3, Clear indication of what each FS is doing being the main ones after a quick look).  What an aesthetically great looking bit of kit, too!

These look good, but I guess I was hoping they might deliver a significant improvement in latency for the 2.5x price premium, but apparently not?

    • Nux C-5RC 5.8GHz, Latency 5ms, Range 30M
    • Lekato WS-50 5.8GHz, Latency 6ms, Range 100M (I'm guessing pinch of salt time for that)

I've no idea, Al! I chose the NUX as I'd had a generally good experience with the 2.4 system. I LOVE the rechargeable case that charges the units in storage, I enjoyed the cable tone and ease of use, and hadn't noticed or felt any latency, which is good enough for me! 🙂. The case was as much a deciding factor as anything though

This doesn't really make any sense with me? The 2.4 range which is widely used by routers, only has 3 truly intermodulation free (no overlaps) frequencies in the range (channels 1, 6, 11). It's when people start putting in wireless systems that make use of the other channels (like mics, IEMs etc), that the chaos starts. Like all of these things, radio require careful consideration when deploying... so for example, 3 routers in close proximity, for example for different companies, should be all on different channels. Dont be surprised if you then do a gig in an office block where 2.4 starts going crazy... for everybody (assuming fairly close proximity there). So if you turn up at a gig where there is a lot of contention in the 2.4, you've got the beginnings of understanding why. Likewise, upping transmission power could make matters worse when there's multiple bits of wireless around.

Like channel 38, 70 and 2.4. and 5.8, all of this is a bit of a free for all with no strict management. However, when you get into the realms of site licenses or leases, things are VERY co-ordinated.

I definitely wouldn't expect to get sense out of me! I just know it's the only drop out I had with them, and it happened after I had to move closer to the standing led light batons we use due to repeat stage invasions. There's every chance I've put 2+2 togethe and come out with 5... But there you have it! I wasn't using the IEMs at the time either... I'm a sucker for sales jargon, and NUXs website made their 5.8 system look better than their 2.4, so I was sold 🤣
