1. All present and correct. Actually I was just looking in the control cavity for factory stamps and was surprised at the really neat job done. Everything labeled and wires held with cable ties.
2. I can't fault the ebanol fretboard on the Curbow. Good luck with the Squier.
3. Was browsing eBay at the weekend and took a shot at one of 2 Neos for sale. Was surprised at being the only bidder and for just £165 it was on its way to me. After a couple of hassles with last few purchases it was a breath of fresh air to deal with someone switched on. Seller emailed me straight off with when it would get posted and why he sold it (he prefers short scales), we discussed strings he likes chromes,me nylons. Anyway the good part its a better, apart from a silky smooth neck and a lovely finish (Spalted SB) I reckon it could punch its way through a lead blanket. 75F up here today and I wanna stay in and play bass:-) Ain't it a beaut
4. Better carrying a bass on the train than a kayak, even an inflatable. ;-) That's some dilemma you've set yourself. The Benton or the Squier or solve it by buying the Benton try it for the week,if you like it great if not send it back and try your luck with a Squier. You picked a great time to be in Edinburgh, sunshine every day.
5. Nothing really outstanding AT. There's a fretless Vintage V9 in Musselburgh but it's kinda dear £180. And a coffee table RavenWest in Walnut for £200,this has been for sale for ages so might be up for negotiation. Both on Gumtree 5 mile radius of Edinburgh City centre Better luck with the kayaks. Sevylor 240 explorer oars and pump £50 07841502971 just went up a few hours back. Anything else I'll post it bit of a bugger though laptop fried last night so trying to use a tablet. Enjoy Auld Reekie
6. Are any of these photos any good ?
7. Got a set of strings. Paid late Wednesday night, were posted Thursday, arrived Friday. Couldn't have been easier. Cheers K.B
8. Something is very wrong there. " Collection in person only " who'd be brave enough to do that.
9. I just got a set of RS66LH+ drop zone plus 85 to 175. Already having trouble thinking what I'll put them on. F# what the hell was I thinking.
10. Do try & keep up! I really must try harder. Sorry J
11. Can't believe he's asking £150 for that Hohner. There was one sold beginning of the month for £64. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/121347417252?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649&clk_rvr_id=648657162201&afsrc=1
12. I just used the screws off the old strap buttons so no drilling. Dirt cheap of Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400483583372?var=670091302839&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 But coming from China means they take a while.
13. I think that's a brilliant response from Mark about the Scottish deliveries. We start talking about it over the weekend and Monday the 1st chance he has to deal with it he does. Rest assured you'll be in the running on any other purchases I make.
14. Know what you mean YellowCar. Swithered for 4 hours about buying a bass only when I went to pay did I see " This model has been discontinued "
15. Always thought it was strange that there's fairly regular posts about QC issues with Rics,Gibsons and Fenders.No-one takes a blind bit notice but a problem with a £100 bass, nearly headline news. Anyway I'm with Discreet the white one looks far better.
16. The Harley Benton Progressive's are ugly no doubt about it. Had a look on Ebay.de and I've seen these Darlin basses before, I think it was through Ali Baba http://stores.ebay.de/asien-harmonie/Saiteninstrumente-/_i.html?_fsub=5468454014 and the Edel's have been on the go for a while http://stores.ebay.de/gitarrenschmiede/_i.html?_nkw=Bass&submit=Finden&_sid=369529926 Search was set below 350 euro. Still nothing like the choice the Americans have. These two by Spear are quite interesting http://www.ebay.de/itm/Aktiver-E-Bass-SPEAR-S-2E-4-Saiter-Ebenholz-Decke-Top-Design/290736133733?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222003%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22567%26meid%3D7472305508151770407%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9764%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D331199054376&rt=nc http://www.ebay.de/itm/SPEAR-E-Bass-V-DXE-4-Ebony-Top-active-NEU-Fachhandler-/331199054376?pt=Gitarren&hash=item4d1d008228 though more than 350 euros. IBWT I think with over 1000 employees Thomann will have someone in the know, They've been going for 60 years.
17. That looks like a dangerous place to enter. If you've no willpower like me that is.
18. Thanks for spotting this one AT. Was looking at Rondo the other night ( fretless, 5'er short scale with quilted maple $325 ) and saw the Douglas HB all the while cursing the lack of Rondo here. I actually prefer the Douglas look but hey beggars can't be choosers, so if I'm after a hollow body I know where to go.
19. Never used GAK and like Uncle I saw " Free Postage except Scotland " so would never use them. Got my Benton and Ibanez Mikro from Thomann £7 and it was here in 2 days so can't fault them. Buying from a small shop's a good policy though.
20. CamdenRob the yellow does look cool eh. Badboy for a fretless contact Dave @ ProBass . He'll have the answer.
21. Aye it was a hassle and no reason, all monies were paid a minute after I hit the BIN. All they had to do was pack them then hand them to the courier.
22. Mcnach I did get the basses. Both arrived last week as described and I got two good basses but the hassle took a bit from the NBD joy. As soon as I cancelled the sales the sellers were in touch. One wouldn't give me the tracking details even after 4 emails, was surprised when MyHermes delivered. Seeing as I got my stuff felt I was maybe a bit hasty so left positive feedback with hindsight I shouldn't, neither has left feedback for me. On a side-note Ebay got in touch when I cancelled saying I might get listed as a Non Payer. So I replied and explained what my reasons were and if I got a black mark couldn't care less as I wouldn't be using them again. Was told they'd looked at my record and my concerns and said I was right to cancel,If I was marked for Non Payment they would cancel it Won't be dealing with private sellers on Ebay if I can help it in future.
23. I posted a link in the Ebay thread for a Peavey Grind 5'er. It was made in Vietnam so has the Scooped lower horn. Sitting at £50 + £12 postage ends Saturday. I've same but 4 string never notice the scale length just a great Bass.
24. Check the Ebay thread Lads. I posted a link to a Grind 5'er today.
25. If anyone's interested there's a Grind on the bay. http://www.ebay.co.u...%3D321415755428 Sitting at £49.99 the now, £12 postage ends on Friday. By the looks of it I'd say made in Vietnam. Don't think the " Scooped Out " lower horn made the trip to Indonesia and China. Had the pleasure of getting the 4 string version of this last week, Vietnam Scoop model.Absolute peach of a bass, Faultless quality in finish and build. And a dream to play. Somebody's going to get lucky with Guys. K.B
