1.
I'm going to start one of two new threads:

    1) What's the shortest time anyone has held onto a new bass

    or

    2) What's the longest anyone has owned a bass for.

    :)
Q1 - I've owned a bass but never had it in my hands and sold it on via a 3rd party - does that count ?

    I did once own a 69 Precision for a day !!

2 - In my case I owned a Jaydee for a couple of years !!

  2.
This is one amazing example of a Custom Shop Jazz. I played it when Birdy owned it and brought it round. Somebody will get a fantastic bass.
Cheers Funky !!

It's THE 70's Jazz, 70's vibe with Custom Shop Build Quality !

When I bought this bass I moved from a USA 1975 Reissue and a bloomin good example too, the difference btw the 75 and this bass was not subtle !!!

    Cheers

  3. Hi Guys,

This is the most fantastic bass i've ever owned, and i've owned it twice now so that tells you something...

Fact is my stupidly large and impossibly clumsy hands are just better suited to wider necks, i've just bought a Stingray and i'm so much more comfortable on that than I am on the slim fast neck of the Jazz !

I'll get some pics up tomorrow when the light is better.... but for now here's one of me using it live

here's a link to the fender site as a starter for 10

    http://www.fender.com/customshop/instrumen...rtno=9270000288

Looking for trades / swaps / px on the following as a starting point :

ASH Maple Natural Stingray (may consider other finishes but a maple board is a must)

    Bongo HH

Spector NS2 NS4 or Euro LX

    Status Headed Empathy

Open to other suggesions but neck profile of a Stingray / Precison is what i'm after

I'd also consider trades / swap on a decent amp (compact / powerfull type - poss Neo ?)

The Jazz had a RRP of £2600 but you can't buy one anymore....... I paid £2200 for this a year ago. I do live in the real world and understand the posh bass market is a little depressed which is why I'd like to trade rather than sell at this time. However sale price would be £1300

The Bass is certainly a future classic

Ping me a PM with any offers suggestions.......

    Thanks a lot...

I think in terms of build quality and playability they are very similar although I think the Sadowskys are slightly consistently higher quality but when you get a good CS one you get a good one!

They differ in terms of sounds as the Sadowksy doesnt do the passive fender as well as the CS and the CS doesnt do the aggressive cut through as well as the Sadowsky in my opinion.

Horses for courses, both cracking basses!

    Steve
Owned a few of both varieties in my time....

Buy a Decent Fender Jazz and a Sadowsky DI Box ! Live Happily ever after in the best of both worlds !

  5. Hi Guys,

I've been gassing for a Ray for a while now, there's been a couple of nice modern Ray's on here for like £650 - £700 while for a pre EB we're talking £1500 + leaving aside the historical significance and investment potential, and thinking from a playability, tone & feel perspective are the Pre EB Ray's that much better ?

I know individual instruments from both era's will vary greatly but in general what are your experiences ?

    Cheers

  6.
I was a bit pissed one evening and decided to offer him $800 for it! Then I offered $805. He sent me a nasty email calling me a loser and a "douchebag" He told me that 800 bucks wouldn`t buy the air around this bass so I offered him $850 for the air!

I asked him what "douchebag" meant and suggested that it might be someone that tries to sell something for far more than it`s worth!
That's given me my first laugh of the day..... Thanks ! :)

  8.
Good Idea! Its a different beast to your 1970 Custom Shop. Its lighter but with a much darker tone and is particularly nice when passive. PS the NYC is on its way also, I am a born again Nordstrand enthusiast at the moment :-)

EDIT: On a serious note I wouldnt change anything on your Fender. As its one of a 100 its collectability in the future would rely on it being stock with no broken solder joints I reckon. If you leave it as it is it will be worth a few bob in a few years!

  9. I used a DB728 & 680 with a pair of GS410's as my main Rig for about 4 months...... See Avatar)

for sure the best bass tone on the planet !

But the Weight !?! That 728 made an Ampeg SVT seem like a lightweight solution !!

Mine Went to a Guy in Italy for a stupidly low price, wished I'd hung on to it

  10. Easy..... I'd have Marcus Millers 77 Jazz bass !

The tone (I know 80% at least is in his hands) that defined some great Albums from Luther, Sanborn and a whole load more.....

I fell in love with Bass listening to Marcus, without even realising til years later it was him !!
