"... to keep your account safe from anyone else logging in as you". Thanks for the initiative Ped but now I'm curious. Has this actually happened?

I saw a well-known & busy covers band on Saturday night, playing 40/50 pub gigs a year. Noticed that the singer was using the same Lekato system that I've just bought to experiment with so I asked her about it. She had nothing but good to say about it and it sounded absolutely fine to me BUT I did notice that the receiver unit was plugged into a mini-mixer of some sort on her music stand so the transmission distance was really very short. Now that's actually quite similar to how I'd plan to use mine (for when I'm playing keys, not bass) so I'm happy with that, but how the unit performs with a 30/50/70-foot transmission distance I can't tell you. It works fine over those distances in my back garden, but that ain't a busy pub/club with routers & extenders and dozens of mobile phones in use.

How on earth does that strap button work on the upper horn?

We played Amersham Heritage Day last year alongside a big band, with a large gazebo for each set-up to speed up the handover. Just as we finished our first set and the big band was about to start, we got hit by a thunderstorm of Biblical proportions. Pretty much the entire crowd leaped up and tried to shelter underneath the two band gazebos, both of which - of course - were filled with delicate and expensive gear. Oh how we laughed ...

There's no shortage of people on Basschat with way more band experience than me, but ALL my experience has taught me that there is simply no substitute for personally owning all the gear you use. In the (three) bands I play in, each member owns their own instruments & backline, a couple even own their own mics and stands, but pretty much everything else is owned outright by @Silvia Bluejay and me. Sure it costs more money that way, but there has never once been any sort of argument - or even discussion - about shared kit, who owns it, who's not putting in enough money, etc. We could start those rows tomorrow by announcing that in future we would be taking an extra 'share' of the gig money as a fee for supplying the PA, an extra 'share' for the sound guy (who is, of course, Silvie), and deffo an extra 'share' as our finders' fee for bringing in every single gig played by all three bands. But we're not going to do that, are we Silvie? Silvie???

I'm sorry @Bassfinger but IMHO you need to pick your fights, and this is one to walk away from. The best you can hope for is to get your money a few weeks earlier while possibly picking up a fair amount of bad publicity amongst the musos you know ... can you imagine how all this would be spun by four or five others in the band? I can see that you're well pissed off and I imagine that I would be too, but I suspect that you'd be pissing into the wind on this one. Best just let it go.

Spot on. Assuming that your bandmates are reasonable people, you need to ask them to agree to a technical rehearsal which is all about your sound - they have to set their rigs to how they'll be at live gigs and agree to NOT twiddle the knobs while you're trying to establish the settings you need. Given that they'll be giving up an evening plus the cost of the practice space it's best to get them onside first. You will deffo need to take a simple but reliable handheld recorder ... my preference is the Zoom range (H1, H2 or H4). Have it set up for recording the sound in the room (i.e. don't take a DI from your rig or a feed from the room PA) and keep referring back to it during the session. Sometimes the sound in the room is surprisingly different from what you thought you were hearing while you were playing.

Yup ... in my early days on bass I had an Ibanez Precision (70s) which sounded amazing but weighed over 11lbs. It did my back and shoulders in if I played it standing up, and when I played it sitting down it cut off the circulation below my right knee. 🙄

Nothing that can't be fixed with a couple of 2" woodscrews and some offcuts. 😉

You'll need to have them available in five or six sizes, and then all your potential buyers will ask ,"Do you have it in blue?" ...

Get in touch with Eric Silva in Brazil: https://www.facebook.com/Ericbaixo His strap company makes superb leather guitar straps, their service is fast and efficient. and his prices used to be pretty keen. His English is very good. Apart from normal wide, padded straps, he also makes excellent twin-shoulder straps which I use on my three heaviest basses. The twin-jobbies also pretty much eradicate neck-dive. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=646408149307126&set=a.182025455745400 That photo is old enough to show me with my Covid Lockdown Pornstar tache ...

Alternative to tascam bt phrase trainer ?

Hmmmmmm ... it's PC-based rather than Android or stand-alone, and it also appears to be embedded with YouTube who are currently making all sorts of threats in my general direction for my failure to start paying for something that has been free for as long as I've been using it. -

Thanks Sam. Reviews are ... erm ... mixed (to put it politely) but it's a freebie so what have I got to lose? Installed on my phone and I'll give it a whirl. -

Incidentally, the latest firmware update for the GB-10 is dated 1st Dec 2010 so that won't help. 🙄
