Up for grabs ive got a Squier VM Precision neck that never quite made it onto a project i had planned to start I bought this off of a well known auction site some time ago, the previous owner had sanded the back of the neck to bare wood and, despite being honest about its origins, added a rather unscrupulous decal onto the headstock to try and pass it off as an mim part, String tree will be included but ferrules for machine heads wont, i have a set of generic machine heads that i can throw in for another 10 fine english pounds Neck is in good nick, truss rod works as it should and frets are showing a fair bit of life left price includes postage within UK

thanks for the advice guys, something well worth chewing over, I'm not especially after a relic or roadworn look, I'm more looking at options so as to match the lacquer tint that was/should have been on there, water based stains could well be worth a look into though so thankyou for that suggestion. I'm wondering if something like this would get the same effect?! https://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/product/tinted-gloss-nitrocellulose-lacquer-aerosol/

This is mostly what I’m wondering, do jazz necks hold that much of a difference?! Are there any other similar necks that would be worth considering that you know of?!

I have unfortunately, all the way up to all the way down, still struggle, just can’t work it out

Essex, about 20 minutes out from Chelmsford

Will have to try find one first.... music shops within 25 miles all cater for “standard” instruments

Thanks for the suggestions fellas, I had considered a short scale but I’m reluctant to as the precision I have is my first and only fender and it’s the one I’ve cut my teeth on as a bassist so to speak, the body is starting to get marks, scratches and dings on it that kinda make it mine so would ideally like to keep it hence considering just the neck change would a short scale neck work? How short a scale should I be looking at? Would a typical precision short scale neck have the same widths and thicknesses?!

Hi all, after some much needed advice here ex guitarist turned bass player who picked up bass about 10 years ago, I learnt to play the bass on Ibanez sr800 and sr500 basses, decided that I wanted a precision instead, sold ibanezes and bought a highway one precision, this is and has been my only bass now for 7 or 8 years of regular use Having small hands, im still struggling with the size of the neck, I find it a stretch between frets, I’m still stumbling between strings due to the thickness and width of it and fatigue, I still get real bad left arm/hand fatigue (despite changing the position/height of the bass more times than I care to count) so in a move I know I’ll regret, I’ve put the neck up for sale / swap.... I THINK I’m looking for a jazz neck (precision lyte neck is something someone mentioned to me also) as I hear they are nicer on small hands, aesthetically, I’d like to keep the fender look so is there something that anyone can recommend I should be looking at any advice greatly appreciated

In a move I know I’ll end up regretting I’m looking to sell the neck off of my first (and only) ever bonafide Fender bass I bought this bass after learning to play on (and then selling to fund this) Ibanez basses and quite frankly, love the bass, love the tone, 8 years later, still struggle with the neck and my tiny hands! looking to ideally swap this for something a little less wide and little less thick, admittedly never having tried a jazz bass neck, after much reading, I THINK that is what I am after as I hear they are much nicer to small hands My neck is in as new condition despite being played religiously for the last 7 or 8 years with flat wounds, Frets are fine, truss rod (at heel end) is fine and working and all is as should be This currently resides on my highway one precision and is a 2007 model so it has the dual reinforcement rods which I believe is an upgrade to any made prior to this I’ve no idea what this sort of thing sells for so am happy to be nudged if the price I’ve put is a little on the steep (or low) side. Ideally would like a swap as this is my only bass and gets regular use so I can’t be without a neck for long, happy to listen to trade / part ex / swap offers Inclusion of machine heads in the sale isn’t automatic but can be negotiable any questions (or corrections to info given) throw them my way and I’ll see what I can do to answer as best I can -

@ikay Apologies for hijacking this thread but I’m in the middle of building a slab body version of one of those basses, could kindly tell me at all what thickness the body is please?! I’m currently working off of 42mm but am unsure if this is completely correct thanks in advance
