Same here, I purposely ordered the ones listed as IN stock. They weren't, although full marks to them they emailed me to tell me and I got a refund straight away. Tried again two weeks ago, still out of stock. On ebay they cost a fortune unless you're happy to get from USA

If I had not chased, I would have heard nothing from them. As it is, all I have had was a promise to call the supplier but that has not happened. I am actually quite whizzed off with BD as I have always bought my kit from them and defended them against comments of bad service. Sadly I no longer feel I will do that.

  2. Be wary of the Bass Direct website. I ordered some ultralites 5 weeks ago on the basis they were in apparently in stock. They were not and I am still waiting, even though they took my money on the day of order.

I suggest calling the shop to check on a) are they in stock and b) delivery times if they are not. They are being totally non committal with me as to when they will come in.

Be interested to hear if folk think the Claret is worth the extra?

Following the gradual deterioration of my three month old Scarlett 4i4, I vowed not to buy Focusrite again (I have had three of their Scarlett units). I have never been truly happy with the lack of volume and ease of which the gain blows out on my five string Bs (either connecting straight into the interface,  via a small mixing desk, via an MXR DI+ M80 and/or via the DI out on my amps). My Audio Technica mics have no issues. Frustration pushed me close to throwing much cash at a UA Apollo Twin but was mentally was struggling to put that much coin into an interface that was going to be used 75% just for music listening, 25% recording and an hour or so a week for Skype bass. I then thought MOTU M4 but that is not yet available and a couple of YT vids have brought up quality issues, so best wait for that to bed in. I also need something with inputs and preferably controls on the front. I also prefer separate phantom power for channels one and two. The solution that arrived today is the Clarett 2pre.

Re the 4i4, it still appears to work audio wise (it survived a Skype session yesterday) but the lights on the front are all coming on at once or in various disco formations, including blending light colours (who knew the gain lights could also show blue and white!) and sometimes no lights were being shown at all. Yesterday out of sheer frustration when Focusrite Control started to not work (possibly a mac issue) and I could not adjust anything due to the all electronic controls, I gave up and bought the Clarett.

I was not expecting much but the headroom, sound quality and clarity (forgive the pun) is streets ahead of my 4i4 and previous Gen 2 2i4. I have only been playing around with it for a couple of hours but there really is a mahoosive difference to my ears compared to the Scarlett. So far, very much yes to being worth the extra coin.

Aww excellent... We also have a Polly, 5 month old JRT. We lost Roobarb in May aged nearly 15😭

I'm still after a Harley, still nurturing my mid life crisis!

Lovely to hear from you again!

What a great shot of Polly!  So sorry to read about Rhubarb. A wonderful character. I don’t ride much nowadays. Perhaps 300 miles a year. I keep saying I should sell the bike but it sits in the garage ready for that 2-3 days when I feel like an escape.

    Hi M,

No, not stopping permanently but need to free up some cash. Will have to get something smaller (crappier) and let the PA do the work. I'm keeping the Stingray, that'll have to be prised out of my cold, dead hands! 😆

How's things with you? You still playing and biking? (I haven't even got a bike any more! 😟) How's Bob?

Good news. Yup, still playing and biking but now on a Harley and very rarely. Bob is on good form and now acting as a grumpy old man to Polly, our new (3 years now) spannel.

Yes, I agree. If that means I have to remove my one (which I don’t think is excessive - please tell me if it is), then I shall do so.

Yours is not a major offender, some of them are, in my opinion, ridiculous. I have turned yours off, however, not because it is too large, but because it has worked well  in getting the message across to a regular like me.

Thank you. I confess to getting mildly peeved at those members who insist on full size photos in their signature. I was reading one thread at the weekend and gave up when one line posts took up the whole 27" screen due to the signature photos. Personally I think their should be a physical limit applied

  8. Great bass, truly good value. Congrats!

I have the fretless version (albeit in the correct off white colour :D), but do have issues with neck dive / balance and pressure on my damaged collarbone. I am with Rich on the tuners. Sadly my Ultralights have still not arrived (despite being paid for a month ago). I can only play it for any time sitting down at the moment.
