  1. Money, it’s a gas. Hmmm,  whilst I accept gas may have an intrinsic value and money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, I do not accept money can currently be a substance possessing perfect molecular mobility..

  2. One for the older crowd.
It is highly unlikely you will teach the world to sing,  no matter how many people use Zoom. Even then “in perfect harmony”?  No not going to happen.

Whilst we are here, note I do not live in a yellow submarine. That song is therefore also a terminalogical inexactitude.

  3. FYI I have just received a new mic cable from designacable and it came with a card.

The card promises 5% cheaper pricing than other marketplaces (I ordered via Amazon) and free UK delivery on all orders over £ 7.50.

Worth also noting for some, they also do click and collect from their place in Nottingham.

If OBBM cannot supply what you want now, perhaps worth looking at www.designacable.com

Just want to be clear first and and say that I'm not claiming to know for a fact that it is illegal or otherwise.

But in that house example, it's obviously a very different scenario so the ruling in that specific case doesn't itself indicate that anything there is to be known about an item being sold privately is up to the buyer to find out. It could be that that very specific piece of information wasn't deemed important enough to require telling anyone since most reasonable people wouldn't care.

It would be different if it was an important piece of information about the house itself, e.g. The walls are made of a material that you can't screw or nail anything in to. If the judge had deemed something like that to be still up to the buyer to find out then it would be an appropriate example (or if the bass situation was that it used to belong to a paedophile or something rather than having part of it changed).

The house may be poor examples but it does not change the impact and effect of caveat emptor.

So even the Harley Benton example is legal?

If the sale was by a private individual, fraud etc may possibly come into play, however under caveat emptor which is a part of English Law, yes, you the buyer are responsible to spot it was not a Fender. It is your fault. If this was a sale by a business, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) would come into play alongside various consumer protection laws giving you the protection the buyer would want. I do not believe Distant Selling Regulations apply to a private sale either, but am prepared to be advised on that.

Two examples taken from the internet are:

"An early illustration of this principle relates to the 1523 sale of a horse which could have been either tame or “wylde”.  In the second case the seller would not be responsible, as: 'caveat emptor beware thou byer'.

A more recent example is the 2004 case of Sykes v Tyler Rose. A couple in Yorkshire discovered via a TV documentary that the previous occupant of their house had brutally murdered his adoptive daughter there. They took the seller to court, claiming that they should have been told this before the sale. The judge was sympathetic but rejected their claim - it was up to them to find out about the house’s history if this was important to them."

    "Buyer beware" ?

I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that front. Has stated in the following link:

    https://www.gov.uk/marketing-advertising-law/regulations-that-affect-advertising

The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example:

    Including false or deceptive messages

    Leaving out important information

    Using aggressive sales techniques

Has @thegummy says, "Are you saying they could call it an American Fender, it really is a Harley Benton with the logo changed and it's still up to the buyer to notice at the time, otherwise that's perfectly legal?"

If it was bought through eBay and paid with PayPal, they could very easily find in favour of the buyer. If he can prove that in the original listing there was no mention of a pickup change and the bass was advertised as stock, then this is false advertising and a refund would be issued; presumably the bass would need to be returned to sender.

That is for business sales. Private sales are subject to buyer beware or “caveat emptor” to use the legal expression.

    Lined fretless is cheating.

Gary Willis says the same. Unlined does look cool though.

I have to say that for me having a lined fretless is pointless (although my fretless is lined) as I simply cannot see the lines on the fretboard at all. I can only see the side of the neck.

Still using my Exposure VII and VIII from the same era, I hope your Bergantino is still going strong in 30 years :)

I suspect not of anything newly current right now but a nice thought.

  9. I am still using my original Audiolab 8000 bits from approx 28 years ago plus Wilson Benesch Orators from 19 years ago (edited as my wife correctly pointed out it was 2001; the year I had a heart attack - I came out of hospital, picked these up the following day, collapsed due to the strain of lifting them (48kgs each) and went straight back to hospital that same day for another two weeks). Always loved the Mission Cyrus stuff however.

Enjoy the Berg, @Bobthedog, let us know how it handles the outdoors! Are you on a stage or on the grass? I find that something magical happens playing loud on soil- the vibrations just travel through you in a different way!

Will do. I think we will be on plywood or similar covered pallets.

Ahhhhh yesssss!!! Superb! I have the B|Amp and I love the thing. It’s going nowhere!

There’s so much available “under the bonnet”, a real tweakers delight, but plug and play is a breeze. Congratulations! Be sure to register your amp as Jim Bergantino sends out any (software) updates and tweaks personally!

Just dialled down the bass and upped the mids and treble and currently in Bill Withers heaven along with the Dingwall. I have registered as am very keen to get the latest "fat valve" update. :D

  12. New amp day for me, mostly driven through boredom as I was not totally unhappy with my previous main head. I wanted a change, however, and so here it is:

    IMG_0366.thumb.jpg.a64eb4e6769f4094744d82eebb1cb70c.jpg

I have yet not had a chance to really play with it and it will take some time to dial in what I need through my BF Big Twin II. My Glockenklang Blue Rock was a little "stiff" in feel, but boy could it play a good clean sound and quite loudly when asked for; this is definitely a muddier and more bass heavy, albeit a bit more alive, which is what I am after. The Glock is also a much better build quality but also much heavier due to the huge power parts. This is physically much smaller. This is 1200 watts the Glock was 1000. Both at 4 ohms. My next gig will be a post lockdown picnic for the village, in a field with no PA or FOH. This should be able to be heard!

The sizes given (3/8" and 1/2") are the shaft sizes, not the hole sizes.

Here's a diagram of both, with all the dimensions: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1574/0577/files/206.PDF

So the 3/8" key wants a 9/16" diameter hole, and the 1/2" key wants a 11/16" diameter hole.  What size is the Sire hole?

Thank you. I appreciate the sizes are the shaft size, it was working out which ones I need. I will look at the hole size and go from there.
