1. Hi, Just bought a second hand Fender Precision Highway One - currently fitted with some 45-105 Fender Nickels in need of desperate replacing. Any advice on what strings - I want an all-round rock / blues / classic sound Don't fancy flats so roundwound advice. Also the soft bag that came is falling apart so any advice on those welcome. Ta D
2. So met up today with fellow BC member who advertised on the forum Deal has been done: Fender Precision Highway One - £350 According to the serial numbers it is from around 2008 - happy man. Just needs new strings and a decent gig bag. D.

4. Thanks for meeting up today Zak. Lovely bass and pleasure dealing with you. Happy man.
5. Enjoying this... I might buy a used highway one precision. Hopefully a pic tomorrow.
6. Post christmas fun... Just wondered what you would buy, might bring some fresh ideas to my mind. Happy new year. D.
7. Mooie bass, helaas een vijf snaar. Veel geluk met de verkoop. D
8. Hi, Looking to join some like-minded people to play/jam togehter on a regular basis. I used to be part of a band when I lived in Holland, this was 12 yrs ago but I miss having a night out to mess about with music. I am no bass monster like Flea but enjoy putting a foundation down with the drummer. FUN is the aim. Here is link to some of the songs we did. Keep in mind this is not a proffesional recording but straight onto minidisc (remember those) from a mixing deck. http://soundcloud.com/dennis1971-1/sets/silence-for-the-base/ Covers played with the previous band included: alive/better man - pearl jam, everything zen - bush, learn to fly - foo fighters, strutter - kiss, machinegunman - pride & glory, sold my soul - zakk wylde and many more. Next to covers we played about 15 of our own. Flexible in genre and style of music. I am 42, have kids and work so juggling is part of life. I am looking for people in the same situation and if we end up doing some pub gigs great. Aim: Just to have fun once a week - no pressure and jam in a band setting instead of alone. Flexibel in approach, no intentions of being the next big thing. If a gig comes out of it great, if not fine too. I live near Thame (oxfordshire) so ideally want to join up with some people around here. Too far away and meeting up for a jam is going to be difficult. Jamming on Wednesday or Thursday is the aim. (Mon / Tue I have commitments). 9. Thanks all, waiting to meet up with the seller of a Fender Precision Highway one on this forum (£375).
10. I wish I could, neither of them available in shop. Played an american special which was lovely but out of budget. Luckily they are happy to order one and I am not obliged to take it of them but want to make the best possible decision..... Did play the CV jazz which played fine, but I prefer the Pbass sound.
11. Pro's / Con's? Came close to making a decision in the shop today and decided against the CV '50 precision since I preferred the later style. So I was veering towards the CV '60 precision until shopkeeper suggested looking into precision standerd (MIM). Price wise these are within budget. What are the major differences? What would you choose and why? Dennis
12. Getting more and more tempted to order one of the squier cv'50 precisions in butterscotch......
13. Are these as versatile as a classic vibe '60 model, with the split pick up? Might be joining a band that plays indie-rock, this will be the only bass for a while.
14. None in my local shop but they look cool. Anyone had experience with them. I played a squier VM tele bass today and the neck was great but I wasn't sure if the sound was a bit one trick pony. (vhttp://www.fender.com/en-GB/basses/precision-bass/vintage-modified-precision-bass-tb-maple-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/) Hence the question in the title. Thanks
15.
Yeah, can't go wrong with a decent 2ndhand P-bass, if you want 2ndhand, and as long as you try before you buy. But if it doesn't have to say 'Fender' on the headstock, you could consider getting a really excellent brand new instrument that is very well suited to the sounds you are into: the MTD Kingston CRB. You can get one for £429 from Bass Direct. That's a hell of a lot of bass for the money there.
Never heard of these before, video sounds good. More options, just what i need
16. Thanks for all the advice gentleman bassist. Much appreciated. Well aware I am looking at many different options, but he thats half the fun sometimes. Had a jazz mim in the past and played lovely but wasn't the best sounding, played a reverend decision last week which was pretty good, also played squier cv precision '50 style which was good, american pbass special was a lot nicer than I was expecting. I don't seem to struggle with the different necks that much, do dislike the thick lacquer on some. Thanks again for the friendly advice.
17. yep, hey are good but I found the BB5 I had a bit too clinical. I never connected with, might have been the fact it was a five string. Prefer a passive bass also, enough knobs on the amp to mess with the tone I don't need more on the bass. :-)
18. Just a bit hesitant about buying online without ever having played one, same goes for the 2nd hand market. Too busy family life to go out to a larger shop so I will take a gamble one way or another and just buy one. (My local shop is vintage & modern in Thame) Is mostly Fender.
19. These any good: http://www.musik-produktiv.co.uk/g-l-tribute-sb-2-bordeaux-red-rw.html
20. I seem to be coming to the same conclusion, and I did like the precision I played in the shop last week but cannot stretch to the money for an american special. I would also feel obliged to stretch to he american standard if I am spending that much. Which I won't... damn that is confusion even when I read it. I did lke the suggestion of the Lakland but haven't seen one for the right money. Been toying with the idea of buying a Precision MIM or Squier CV NEW but feel that second hand would give me more umph for the money. I also saw a Pbass highway one 2nd hand for sale, what is the opinion on those? I wil have search for the made in japen precision... I like the one you linked to badboy1984
