1. Hello all, Thought I'd chance my arm here to see if anyone would like my cracking 1995-96 MIM Fender Strat g****r. Finished in black with a cracking custom plate by www.originalscratchplates.com & genuine Fender replacement black covers & knobs. Pun intended, naturally . . . Plays VERY well, lovely low action & all works as it should. Timeless black body & a really nicely aged colour to the neck. A few dings & dongs but nothing that isn't to be expected for a used Strat of this age. Will come complete with the original white scratchplate & switchgear if you'd like them, plus you're more than welcome to come & have a noodle before parting with any money - I'm near Bedford & I'm pretty flexible on timings. It's priced for collection but I'm happy to securely box up if you wish to arrange your own courier. Cheers Tim

It falls to me to start Dave's feedback threat. I picked up a Fender Tele MP bass from him yesterday - all exactly as described & a no-hassle purchase with minimum effort & maximum result. I can highly recommend Dave to all fellow BC'ers & wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Cheers Dave! Tim
3. Perfect - thanks very much BigRedX - that's made my day. Right, where's the soldering iron . . . Happy Saturday Tinkering About T
4. Hello there all, I recently nabbed a cheap Hondo Alien - as I always fancied one to noodle on & find them visually quite amazing - it plays fine & does what it's supposed to really . . . however, part of the reason it was cheap was that the pickup tapping switch was missing. I *believe* the original used a 2-way switch & there are x4 wires coming from the twin jazz-style pick-ups - does anybody have an ideas as to where the x4 coloured pick-up wires (black, white, blue & red) go on the x6 poles on the 2-way switch I've just acquired! Happy to post pics if that'll help. Cheers Tim
5.
I want the pick guard in the OP
Anything's possible lojo!
6. Some wise thoughts here - I'll never forget the first time I played with a 'proper' guitarist who insisted everything was turned up to 11 - boy did it get my ears, plus I had to crank my amp up so much it made the snare & hi-hat play all by themselves . . .
That's a lovely colour of a P you have there mate. Love the pick guard. How did you do it?
Thanks ubit, I maybe falling foul of the Mods here due to plugging, but I run a custom scratchplate company - there's a Basschat competition & a description thread in the Affiliates section. This message will self destruct in 3-2-1 . . .
7. I knocked this up whilst playing around this morning - made me chortle - well, it is nearly the weekend . . . "Turn that bloody guitar down!" Happy Thursday all Tim
8. That's mighty kind of you Oops - thanks very much. I use eBay for my Batman comics - haven't had a problem buying as there's many outlets out there. A general search for 'Steampunk' in the Books, Comics & Magazines section gives over 1500 options - including calendars & tarot cards! FWIW I've found that comics (printed on newsprint) lose their colour definition when finished - they look rustic & relic'd - whereas annuals (printed on gloss art paper) keep their colour perfectly - I'm sure either would work for Steampunk. Cheers Tim
9. SOLD! Thanks for all your interest but it's just been collected by a nice chap from London - it sold on another site for £600 cash, although it was up for more on there than here - as I know you fellas like to keep a handle on sale prices . . . 😃
10. Thanks CH161. It was tempting FunkyFresh - but unfortunately Mrs TimAl's only just arrived in a trade for an old Rockbass . . .
11. All PMs replied to Plus on my rather ancient bathroom scales it comes in at exactly 4kg - which Google tells me is 8.8lbs. Unfortunately I will not post overseas myself due to the cost of insurance plus my reticence at using couriers for such fragile items alongside potential customs issues - HOWEVER, if you wish to arrange your own courier I will happily bubble-wrap & securely box-up in a sturdy guitar box.
12. Thanks again guys. Also thanks for all the offers & trades, ranging from £300 to a kidney & partial 'use' of a girlfriend . . .
How does it compare to the pre-EB?
Oh blimey - it's so subjective isn't it - but to my ears the pre-EB is more 'natural' & slightly 'warmer'. The EBMM has more mids & is more 'aggressive' but then again my pre-EB has a maple neck so it's not really like-for-like. I'm quite shallow so the look of a maple neck plus the 'history' & heritage factor were a big player for me - but really there's very very little in it, although the pre-EB weighs a ton, if not more . . .
13. Thanks guys - v kind. Pictures are part of my day job, so I've got some decent lighting that really does help. S
Does it have its mm hardcase mate?
Sorry andydye, it doesn't come with a hard case I'm afraid.

16. Hello there Zenitram, I'd love to take this if it's still available. Thanks, Tim
17. Thanks fellas - very kind words. This one really does play & sound as good as it looks . . .

There's also a bespoke engraved black stealth-like Batman scratchplate, but I've kept the headstock original to show the pedigree. The donor was a 2005-06 Fender Precision in Pacific Blue, so please note that this is NOT a new bass so it does have a few dings & dongs & has been finished by hand so there's the odd crease where the paper has been wrapped & stuck to the edges of the body - which is only natural! - but nothing at all that affects its visual appeal or playability; I'm sure this would really be more likely to hang on a wall than your 'go to' bass but I must say it's up to the job of gigging as it sounds just as a genuine P should. The action is medium-low at around 3mm at the 12th fret, & it weighs in at just under 4kg / 8.8lb on my particularly ancient bathroom scales - but certainly doesn't feel too heavy to me. I'd also positively encourage you to come see it in the flesh, so to speak, to make sure you're totally happy before parting with any lolly, as I appreciate this not a cheap bass - I'm just outside Bedford & work from home, so am pretty flexible with timings. If that's not possible for you I'm more than happy to securely bubble wrap & box up if you wish to arrange your own courier. Payment by PayPal 'Gift', bank transfer or good ole fashioned cash in hand - plus no trades, swaps or magic beans please. All comments - both positive & negative - are most welcome. 19. SOLD! Subject to the usual blahs . . . @ Karlfer - you know, I did toy with the 'usual' text-based headstock but found that particular image fitted pretty well so thought a bit of colour worked wonders up there. Talent smalent - all learned from Blue Peter . . .
20. A good ole fashioned Monday morning Seriously, I'm happy to consider any offers before it goes on the dreaded bay this week. Happy Monday all, Tim.
21. Thanks fellas. fretmeister - guilty as charged! Happy to correct it if it's a deal-breaker though . . . LOL
22. All good thanks gents - thanks very much. Just a little Saturday bump . . .
